This movie was great...what hollywood should do more...very entertaining. We went to dinner after the movie and a few of the movie goer's also turned up same place; all had glowing comments about this movie. Meryl Streep was FABULOUS...girl can sing, really sold her part. I thought the whole cast was great and the greek island shoot was wonderful island candy. Don't sit at home go see this and you too will be singing all those ABBA songs again!!!!

Loved the campy musical numbers, and the Greek scenery was to die for. Went with a contingent of Greek friends and we enjoyed the Greek extras. Meryl was fabulous and now she can add singing to her resume, Pierce is musically challenged but he makes up for it in the looks department.

We all knew what a talented, versatile Meryl Streep has always been. She kept her former operatic training a secret until now. And even though she claims not to be a good dancer, she IS. Wow! What a colorful, fanciful setting. Great graphics. Pierce is delightful. His singing is not that bad, really! But I roared with laughter at his antics, and the disco dance in full costume, with platforms, at the end. Silly, with a plot to match the song lyrics instread of vice-verca, it's perfect, light summer entertainment. No need to concentrate on a complex plot line.

This was the most fun I've had at a movie in a long time! I've been a fan of Meryl Streep forever and this is the best role I've seen her do in years. It was a wonderful musical that made me laugh and cry. If you want to see an uplifting, light hearted, fun movie this is it.

Meryl Streep is fabulous and the movie is infectious joy. My audience clapped, sang, and danced in their chairs! All of the characters are charming and the setting is gorgeous. I just have to say that you aren't alive if you aren't moved by the fact that 200+ movie goers sighed at the same time when Pierce Brosnan came on the screen. This movie will make you smile and dig out your old ABBA cd's.

I admit I am probably not this movie's target demographic- male and under 60 but I was happy to go with my wife to see it as Iknew she really wanted to see it. First off- if you do not like musicals, ABBA, or seemingly serious actors breaking into song be forewarned that you will probably not enjoy this picture. The good: Amanda Seyfried can sing and act. The gorgeous young actress does well paired against the older experienced cast and can hold a tune. The gorgeous Greek scenery and the Greek chorus added some nice highlights. The bad: Why Pierce Brosnan thought he should do a musical is a mystery and really as far as film making goes the editing was atrocious. The end credits are funny if a bit wince inducing. The bottom line: It is what it is- a light musical made by some big name actors who wanted to enjoy 6 weeks on a gorgeous Greek island.

I smiled, laughed, and lip-synched throughout the movie, but must of all, I had fun. If you enjoy the music and can overlook the singing weaknesses of some of the cast, this movie will work for you. Those expecting a Broadway-quality show with professional singers and dancers may be disappointed. First and foremost, this is a musical. The story is secondary to the songs, which is difficult for some people to accept. At times, the songs and the story do not mesh, and the lyrics sort of pop out from no where.
Streep's performance as Donna is admirable and surprisingly strong. Seyfried is nicely cast as Sophie and also gives a solid performance. Brosnan, however, seemed uncomfortable in his role and totally out of place as Sam. I felt no chemistry between Donna and Sam, and Brosnan's singing was much weaker than the others in the cast. Still, I give him him credit for going out on a limb with this role.
The audience was overwhelmingly female during our 7 p.m. Friday night showing, which should be no surprise. Just from general observation, I'd say most of the women enjoyed the movie, and the few men appeared bored and relieved when the movie ended. I'd say most had been reluctant dates for the evening, including husbands like mine.
I'd like to see the movie again, but only as part of a girls' night out. Send the boys to "Dark Knight." They'll thank you later!

Mamma Mia was great - it was lighthearted, funny, silly, the music was awesome! Pierce Bronson can't sing, but boy his acting more than made up for that! I would recommend this movie if you need a good laugh and just want to enjoy a movie for a change.

This was a great film. It was really great to see how the film translated on screen. I saw the play years ago, but I think the added scenery made it worth the ticket price. The songs are great and I wish I could have sung along in the theatre. If you love ABBA or musicals, then this is a perfect film for you.

I left the theatre feeling happy. It is such a fun movie. Who knew how many ABBA songs I knew, but had no idea I knew them. I heard one critic say he hated the movie b/c Pierce is a poor singer . . .I think the critic missed the remaining 1 hour and 35 minutes of he 1 hour 40 minute movie. I think the acting, the purpose, and the beauty of the movie far out ways a few "off" notes.
