The movie has a couple great subtexts, too: teaching, parenting, individuality, and greed. And is Harrison Ford hot? Yes. Is Shia LaBeouf a cutie? Absolutely? The humor, the thrills, the familiar faces -- they're all there. And of course when spunky Karen Allen walks on screen, the stage is set of a reunion full of sparks and surprises. Today's female action heroes have Karen Allen to thank for setting the stage for their successes! Now where can I buy a fedora?

I am a huge fan of Harrison Ford and the Indy movies. I was so looking forward to seeing this newest installment ever since I heard filming had started. Boy, it's not what I expected. Way too much special effects. It wasn't needed in the last 3 Indy movies, why now ? There didn't seem to be much of a story line. The earlier movies were based on historical items, what happened. It was like, lets put together another Indy movie and see if it works. I presently have all of the Indiana Jones movies on DVD's. I can truly say then when this newest 'adventure' comes out on DVD, I won't be in any hurry to get a copy ! I'm just glad the 2 previous movie sequels were great. It's too bad this latest one has ended the series with a wimper !! Sorry Harrison. This one just didn't have the 'magic' the other three did.

DON'T expect scientific accuracy or even reasonableness. Don't expect plausibility. However, despite those aspects being annoying at times, it was a fun movie to watch. Fine for children (rare these days).

Yes, the first three are classics. I'm with you on that. But think about it- a REAL adventure movie is out for once! Yeah, the "Pirate" movies arrrrre awesome, but they wouldn't compare to the movies that invented the "popcorn movie"! The whole Cannes thing where everyone was cheering before the movie and were 'much quieter' when they came out is drama for your mama. People should know better that these films *aren't* to be taken seriously. Instead they should be embrace and enjoyed by all audience members - the ulitmate escape movie. You have to expect hokey, expect they'll do the impossible and live to tell it and keep in mind Indy's the best thing ever! There's a time for serious, arty, thinking movies... then there's a time for fun forget-about-everything movies. I liked it and I think you should give it a shot!

my children and I have been fans from day 1...n wen we saw the previews for the 4th we were thrilled...I have 2 say although we didn't have he greatest seats (ppl wen dey say get 2 the theater 1/2 HR b4 da show begins, there is a reason : ' ) The movie, plot, special effects, humor (only 4 those who have seen the first 3) action packed and flash back dialects were more den amazn'..kudos 2 all dat were involved in da makn...I would recommend this Movie 2 all!! p.s. I really hope dey would consider doing some movies were his SON is now takn over da bussiness..dat would be great..

We saw the new Indy movie Sat night...all that hype and it was just OK. Too much action, while the plot just seemed to get lost. We miss the old Indy! We seemed to think it was like watching Harrison trying to be Indiana. We will never watch Shia try to take over the role, no more Indy movies for us!

I thought that the overall plot of the movie was little out there - even for Indiana Jones - but it was action-packed and entertaining. Shia Labeouf was a great addition to the cast and I enjoyed the chemistry between Harrison Ford and Shia tremendously. It's also nice to see the familiar faces back! I loved the way they tried to tie in the previous 3 movies in to this one. It was a little campier than the past - what was the deal with the goafers??? But, overall, I thought it was a good movie worthy of a viewing.

A fun film, but nothing can match the appeal of the classic trilogy. Rent it on DVD, cringe at the tarzan and interdimensional beings moments, then pop in the original and really enjoy yourself.

Im a true Indiana Jones Fan.. (I named my second son Harrison) I waited 17 years to see this movie.. I was beside myself when I heard that this movie was gonna come out . Although , I was slightly sad that Indys Dad (sean conary) and Marcus was not in this film .It was great to see his love Marion(Karen Allen). Even though it was clear that they all aged a bit, They still had the geat chemistry they onced shared together. Shia was a great addition to this cast, he helped with the flow of the plot. Overall, Was this movie worth waiting 17 years for? No, but I would wait another 17 years for the next. Go see it!!! It is worth seeing Harrison Ford as Indy and the music alone will get your blood pumping.

Steven Speilberg and Co really mailed it in. The story line doesn't hold together and has a "kitchen sink" feel to it. SS threw every idea at the wall to see what stuck. The addition of ET and Close Encounters into the mix was also a lame attempt to capitalize on other Spielberg franchises. Oh please! How come Harrison Ford can climb up steep hills and scamble down into caves but can't muster the energy to say his lines? This guy use to be charming!The only incredible spot in the movie was Cate Blanchette, who, once again proves how amazing an actress she is. Meryl Streep, watch out....you can't hold a candle to Cate, who completely can make you forget that she is playing a part whether as Queen Elizabeth or a caricature of some commie nutcase as in this movie.

I found the movie rather predictable. It used the same formula as its predecessors; scary tombs, creepy crawly things, even bringing back Karen Allen from "Raiders..." as Indy's "Baby Mama" (said "baby" being Shia LeBeouf), an angle which was more distracting than diverting. I thought it was a good adventure flick, if not overly impressive. I'd recommend it as a matinee (cheaper price).

I think that the movie could have been better. The plot was ok and the special effects were really good, however you need more than just special effects to make a movie good. *spoiler* I think that they really just made this have the oppertunity to make movies with the son as the main character with the ark as the main object in the movie. Overall it just seems like the movie was thrown together for that reason and many things were very predictable.

I love the action in the movie! They did a great job of not trying to make him young. Lucas was smart to age him, and bringing a co-star from another movie was a nice twist. The sci-fi ending was a little far fetched - with him being an archeologist. Do you all agree that they were insinuating that Shia LaBeouf would take over??

I really enjoyed this movie and had a good time watching it. Loved the young man who played Mutt. The only thing that didn't seem quite right was that the character of Marion seemed a lttle bit too nice. She was a real pistol in the first movie and it seemed some of that should have been evident since Indy left her at the alter (or close to that point). But overall it had a good balance of action and the humor was great. The alien thing was a little bizarre, but still a good movie!!!

This movie played out like a reunion show between old cast members and others. I'm not sure there was a single original idea in the movie - it was scene after scene of cliches that have all been done before, and those few things that were new were so over-the-top and unbelievable I found myself groaning instead of cheering.
The script seemed like it was carved out of a template instead of being created to tell a unique story. I found myself reciting the next lines before the characters would say them. The movie was predictable and it didn't feel like anyone gave 100%. Ford, Allen and even Spielberg seem like they just threw this together like producers put together a "best of" music album.
Very disappointing.

I was expecting to go into this movie to be disappointed, because I had read the reviews of people that had seen it....
I couldn't have been more wrong. This movie was every bit the Indiana Jones that I wanted and remembered. This movie has it's own mystique that harkens back to another time and place. The cinematography is excellent. The choices they made to shoot this film was fun and visually superb.
Many people I have read didn't like what the film included at the end, but I really didn't mind that because it was in keeping with the paranoia of the time.... I won't give it away, but the 1950s had it's own brand of paranoia that rings true even today.
If you go expecting to see realism or Academy award acting... you'll be disappointed. This film isn't about that... it's about what makes it fun to be at the movies. Our world is scary enough, but being able to jump into Indy's world for a couple hours... Now that's the stuff of legends.
Cudos to Stephen Spielberg and George Lucas... they are geniuses that continue to work their movie magic.

Without going into spoilers: This Indy movie starts off okay and then quickly goes downhill. There are scenes that serve no purpose at all (long ones) that it seems they tossed in only because they couldn't remember how an Indy movie should go (i.e, they try too hard in much of the film). The script is just a bit below average, but be prepared for a LOT of sci-fi (we're talking Close Encounters sci-fi, not fantasy). Overall, people will buy this on DVD/Blu-Ray only to complete their collections, IMO.

Being a huge Indiana Jones fan definitely left me disappointed this go around. Harrison Ford was believable in the role but the overall tone of the movie just felt off. The stunts were not reminiscent of the other three films but grossly overdone and ridiculous. I'm really not sure swinging from trees like a monkey was ever something you envisioned Jones being able to accomplish. The overall storyline was also the most far fetched out of any of the 4 movies and downright dumb in the context of this series. Overall, I would rate this movie as a decent action flick with moments of the "Jones" feel, but wait for a rental.

The end was a little suspect, and it throws a lot of random plot lines out there without wrapping them up, but over all, a great continuation of one of the greatest series ever. Harrison Ford does a good job, and doesn't look his age, that's for sure.
Indy trumps the National Treasure series, hands down.

This has some predictable and fraying threads for plot lines, and it struggles to cram enough for two movies into one. The surprises in the good action scenes don't overcome those flaws. However, my 10-year-old son loved it, which I'll get to in a bit.
So if you're under 16 or an Indie Junkie, go. If not, wait for the video, because it runs like a long trailer that does little more than introduce the new lead actor for the franchise. Here's why:
The two-movie-in-one cramming thing leaves us with: -- bad guys and artifact guards who disappear and reappear with little explanation; -- so many political statements to balance each other that the movie avoids making any statement that's meaningful or strong; -- explanations of archaeological details that make what might be interesting boring; -- a crazy professor character you want to care about but can't.
On the flipside, here's why you'll want to rent the DVD: There are absolutely enormous and unmistakable links to major Spielberg/Lucas enterprises from decades past. They seemed to go down memory lane and revisit their old projects to put them in hd. So long as you were born pre-1996, you'll spot this trend in: the skulls, the teenie-bopper hangout, a jungle chase scene -- just to name a few without spoiling anything. Second, Ms. Allen turns in the spunky performance you wanted. Third, it's not the sugar-coated, cloying stuff of the worst episode ("Temple of Doom.")
If you were born after 1996, who cares about plotline. It's all fresh meat and plenty of action -- and opportunities to get that popcorn refill without missing a key scene.

I was VERY disappointed in this movie. It started off pretty well, was enjoyable in that old IJ way...(even though I have trouble imagining that a nearly 60 year old man can be as coordinated and athletic as Indy is now...I'm 47 and have trouble tying my shoelaces like I used to...but that's Hollywood...) Anyway...the movie took an irreversible downward spiral when Karen Allen came into the plot. The dialogue became very forced, very unfunny, and just so trite that I wanted to yell at the screen. I can buy into far-fetched plots having to do with odd stories (and the many plot turns in this movie were odd...) but I was very disappointed in Indy's character after Karen Allen entered, and I'm afraid her acting brought him down to her level. Other than that, I loved it....!

Totally enjoyed this flick! The banter and the action were great. Lots of tie in to the first Indiana Jones movie. Heard the WSJ panned it so I suggest they stick to reviewing Wall Street. It's entertainment, remember? The special effects did not overwhelm the main story like they did in the later Star Wars flicks. Great entertainment. Harrison Ford, Spielberg and Lucas did it again.

Start with saying there's never been an Indy movie that wasn't entertaining. This one is no exception. The action is quick, like you expect, the banter is fun. This movie parodies getting old and sticking with your "old life". Weak spots, for me, were casting. The villain in Skull didn't have an edge to her. She was more of just a necessary plot device. The subject matter of this movie was a little too close to mainstream/pop culture for me. I prefer the plots that are more archaic. If you don't know anything about what the characters are dealing with, it's easier to be believable. There's just too much information thrown at us these days about Roswell and aliens for us not to have an opinion on the veracity of of what the characters say. Regardless, it was still by far a fun movie and I enjoyed all the old reacquainting of characters. I'm confident you'll enjoy it too.

I am disappointed in this latest installment in the series and surprisingly,would place this after the Temple of Doom in quality. That's something I never thought could happen based on that story. Overall, I think from the outset, the story tries to be too ambitious and cover too many facets without giving adequate time and development to any of them. Moreover, I think that there was an assumed familiarity with the Crystal skull mythos that does not exist. Unlike things like the Ark and the Holy Grail where there is a basic familiarity with those concepts, the story behind 13 crystal skulls and their implications is not something your average Joe would understand. Finally, for all that I have said, the movie was not BAD....there were some realy good moments. But the ending...maybe the last 20 minutes or so....was just plain awful. It seems that Mr. Lucas and Mr. Spielberg have to fall back on this one over and over and over and over. An unsatisfactory ending to a disappointing movie

Sorry. But, there was no intrigue with the story. You know it's all about aliens from the first time you see the skull. The ending was confusing and unsatisfying. Acting was forced. Action scenes were way over the top. Might have been a good movie 20 years ago...but, viewers' tastes have evolved and they demand way more sophistication than this movie delivered.
