Great end to a decent franchise

The best of the franchise. Unlike the first two which relied more on special effects, this one actually had a decent story and drama. This is the best place to end the franchise. Another movie would just be overdoing it (unless it was a prequel).
Leonard Mimoy adds a bit of nostalgia as sentinel, as he was the voice of Galvatron in the 80's animated movie (Transformers: The Movie). He also steals a line from Star Trek II.
Good popcorn flick. Kids and geeks will enjoy it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great Army Recruiting Tool

It was a good action flick. However I found it less a sci-fi movie and more like some kind of surreal combat film. I felt like I was watching a 2 hour recruitment film after a while. Anyhow, I do recommend it for folks who like straight up action.

No sting whatsoever.

Another waste of 3D. Another man-child movie for Seth Rogen. Another stinker of a super-hero movie. Sad too, since the Green Hornet was such a classic. This one pretty much ruins any chance for a franchise.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Great movie even if you're not into westerns.

I never saw the original, so I came in with no preconceptions. I'm glad I saw it. The story was engaging and the acting was excellent. I've never been much for westerns, but I certainly liked this one. Definitely an oscar contender.

Good old fashioned shoot 'em up.

The best comic-based movies are the ones where you don't really have to know the characters or storyline to follow along. The characters were interesting, the story was easy to follow, and the action was non-stop. If you're into "shoot 'em up" movies, this one is worth a look-see.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Don't waste money on 3D

This was the first time I decided to see a movie in 3D, and I now know why I avoided it. The 3D was mediocre at best, and wasn't really worth the extra price. Do yourself a favor and save the extra $$$ for the popcorn.
As for the movie itself, a nice popcorn flick. Not particularly spectacular, but enjoyable. However, if you can wait a few months, you may do better with renting it on DVD (or Blu-Ray).
Yes, I recommend this movie.

More Drama than Scary

The professional reviews indicated that this would be quite scary, but I didn't find it so. It was actually rather cerebral, and the ending was somewhat predictable. That being said, it was very engaging, and if you like your creep-outs on an intellectual level, then you'll certainly enjoy this movie. Highly recommended for those who like the lines between reality and psychosis rather blurred.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Irwin Allen Would Be Proud

Roland Emmerich is clearly the second coming of Irwin Allen, and this movie proves it. It contains all of the classic Allen elements, from the intense special effects to the cheesy (and I do mean CHEESY) story line. Still, as a popcorn flick, you couldn't ask for better as this one kept you on the edge of your seat for the entire 2.5 hours. There were some obvious technical issues, and again the story line was as cheesy as it gets (hence 4 stars instead of 5), but it doesn't take away from a good time at the movies for this one. If you're a special effects junkie (which I am), you'll absolutely get more than your fix with this one.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Good, but wait for the DVD

Starts off slow, and it really is a lot of nonsense. But if you want to just veg out for a good laugh, you'll enjoy this one. Still, you may be more inclined to wait for the DVD to come out.

Less is more (and scarier)

One of the things I loved about the "Blair Witch Project" was that they didn't feel they needed gore or graphic shock for a good scare. The best scares are the ones that are left to the imagination. Paranormal Activity does this to great effect. The expansion on the "things that go bump in the night" was very effective. My biggest peeve, however, was that too much attention was given to build-up, to the point where it was actually boring, and the actual fear-factor was near the end of the movie. This is where "Blair Witch..." has it over PA. There the scares were consistent throughout the movie. Still, PA can be considered on par as a great amateur effort. Highly recommended.
