I went with my 70 yr old father and 5 of my kids, ages 4,5,9,14,16. The younger kids LOVED it. The older 2 thought it was good, but like me, could have been better. They were turned off by the alien angle. The action was good, the special effects were great, but excessive. The story line was a bit confusing at 1st, but caught up later. My father had seen the 1st 3 movies for the 1st time just this past month. He enjoyed the movie. The 4 and 5 year old got a little scared in some parts, but still loved it. If I had all to do over again, I would still take them, they are still humming the theme song, they haven't seen the 1st three, but I am sure once they do, they will be asking when the next Indy Jones movie is going to come out (my 9 yr old already is).
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I only gave this movie 2 stars because the action and humor were fairly well shot and scripted. Overall, I thought this movie was pretty lame. The premise kind of ruined the whole movie for me. After 19 years, I expected a little better from Spielberg and Lucas. Wait for the DVD.

Another great IJ blockbuster by Lucas and Spielberg. Harrison Ford, who does his own stunts, has still got it. Shia LaBeouf shows promise as Indiana's sidekick, and John Hurt plays a crazy guy so well, he is hardly recognizable. Blanchett is fabulous -- sinister enough to tick off the Russian Commies, who are calling for a boycott of the film, saying it's revisionist history!! It's also great to see Karen Allen again, who looks amazing despite the 28 years that have passed since Raiders came out! We just don't see enough of her. Those who don't think the plot is good enough or the action pervasive enough must have seen a different film (or didn't see it at all). One wonders what in the world they expected. But those of us who have been around since the beginning have something to cheer about here. Sure, we miss Marcus and Henry, Sr., but it's nice the way the writers worked the references to them in. Overall, an extremely solid effort, absolutely worth seeing on the big screen, probably more than once! Plenty of mystery and action to fill the 2 hours, 5 minutes of film. We can only hope this isn't the last of the series.

As a huge Indy fan I had high expectations for this film. It is certinaly better than Temple of Doom, but not quite as good as Raiders, and a close tie with Last Crusade. The Crystal Skulls angle was very interesting and follwed the real world mythology behind the artifacts. (yes, there are crystal skulls) so in that sense if follwed the Indy formula quite well. Many people have been offput by the "supernatural" aspect of this film, but really it is not that much more based in the supernatural than finding the Holy Grail, or the Arc of the Covenant and the magial powers they hold. My only complaint is that the humor went that one step too far on occasion. These instances did not ditract from the overall film, but distracted at the moment they happened. All the actors did wonderfully reprising their roles and Shia LeBouf fit in quite well as a cast member and his character, Mutt Williams, fit in well with Indy, Marian and the characters we are all so familiar with. It is a great extention to the origonial franchise in a time when other revived franshises have been failing (ie. Rambo, Highlander, Rocky) It does a great job of staying true to its origonial heritage, but is a film to bring in the next generation of Indy fans. If you go there expecting to be intertained for two hours with action, mystery, and humor, you will not be disappointed.

Loved the movie! Thought it was a bit silly in parts, but overall it was entertaining! Starts off with the russians invading area 51. Ive been in the area and you can't walk in that easy. The nuke sceen was a little off the wall! I dont know of any refrigerator that will with stand a nuke blast! As the movie progresses you can see the Speilburg/ Lucas influence. Starwars anyone? But other than that I loved it and would like to see it again at home with better popcorn!

I think this movie is a classic example of sequel that didn't have to be made. To me this became a Star Wars meeting Indiana Jones. George Lucas did try, but his story didn't belong in this sequel (Note: Lucas wrote the story, Speilberg directed). It was a bit confusing and the sci-fi take didn't quite do anything for me and didn't seem to quite fit with the whole Indiana Jones theme. I don't recommend to see this at all, but if you must, WAIT FOR THE DVD to come out.

Having been a fan of Indi since I saw his first movie in the theaters in 1981, this last installment is a good closure film for the series. It has the same humor and underlying intelligence and "Saturday Afternoon Matinee" features that made Raiders such a hit. There's been complaints of limited character development, but the only characters you need to really know to understand the story line is Indy and Marion. The rest falls into place from there. Its a truly enjoyable 2 hours of fun.

First of all I love Harrison Ford, always have and always will. I was, however, disapointed in how they protrayed him in this movie. He was protrayed like he was a, for like of anyother word, bumbling old man. Now I know he is getting older, but aren't we all. We are not dumb nor are we stupid. Now, having said that, I want to say that for the most part I enjoyed this movie. It wasn't as exciting as the other India movies. I think the choice for his son could have been more like River Phoenix, the young actor that played the younger Indiana Jones. Shia LaBeouf, being a very good actor on the one hand, was not the son of Indiana Jones, at least what I preceive him to be anyway. The movie all in all was action filled and you didn' get bored watching it. You will enjoy this movie all in all

I agree with many of the reviews of this movie. Some of the far fetched things like the big magnetic box not being attracted to other things like big trucks and such did not make sense. sadly I cant say this movie is good. Sorely dissapointed seemed to be the overall air in the theatre. A hundred pairs of folded arms and foreheads frequently rubbed as 2 hours of fond childhood memories were washed away by mediocre plot and pointless filler action. This movie made me sad and the blame will lay firmly at the feet of Spielberg/Lucas/Keopp and Co. I am sad!

In general I thought it was a lot of fun to watch, and very entertaining to see some of the old characters come back in one way or another. I was a bit surprised about the magnetism / alien theme toward the end. But when it was done I thought - what a great way to "end" the IJ series, with a look toward the future almost. I will admit that before I went, I was wondering what I might be looking at all night - an older Harrison Ford..... hmmmm. But I was pleasantly surprised that they played up his age to create a bit of underlying comedy - I'm glad they didn't try to hide it! We all get older - it's nice to know Mr Ford still has that sweetly disarming smile and can work his magic! Overall - fun, fun, fun! And my boys absolutely loved it! It's a great boy movie and they are living the IJ fantasy every day! Love it! Go see it! Have fun and suspend reality for a while!

I really wanted to relive the magic of the earlier Indy movies, but no amount of optimism and rationale could allow that to happen. Several stunts went on way too long ( e.g. the sword fight between vehicles), and how many times can one go over a waterfall without being separated from their vehicle? The characters were fairly well drawn, but lacked a well flushed out story to tell and energy.

It is entertaining enough to hold one's attention but there are glaring holes in the story line to the point the ending is inconsistent with what has been discovered up to that point. One has to have a child-like/cartoonish view of the world to believe that Indiana Jones & others could even begin to survive much less not be hurt by the accidents they encounter along the way. They even elevated Indiana's whip to Batman gadget status. It was something akin to watching Saturday morning cartoons with real people instead of animated figures. I came away saying that's 2 hours of my life I'm not going to get back! I absolutely loved the 1st Indiana Jones movie & felt the 3rd one with Sean Connery was even better than the first. This one is more along the lines of but much worse than the 2nd one. This is a renter movie when nothing else is available and you're on your second alcoholic drink.

Indiana has a different plot generally he has been searching for an object onl;y to become envolved with another plot line. Harrison look initially tired, but his later screen prescence was more appealing. The plot has tie ins from previous films and the audience could appreciate this. I thought the action sequences and interplay between the characters was good. The use of a comb and knife gave the audience some time to recover from all of the actions scenes. However, the ending was too out of the world

Highly anticipated 4th in the best franchise movie series since Star Wars finally debuts. The setting of the film is set after the Third Reich and in the beginning of the cold war, where the Russians and communists fill in for the Germans. (I personally liked the Germans better, but good opponent for Jones nonetheless). Previous characters from series make surprise entrances, but didn't feel too cheesey about it. The theme has more sci-fi flavor than the divinity-spirituality as in the first three films. Makes the movie a little overkill, but given than Lucas and Spielberg got together for this we should have expected it. It does feel a little cliche for them. The plot is complex enough and engaging for kids and grownups alike. The film has a "matted" color and texture feel which reminisce the 50's and compliments the Indiana Jones series very well. The movie has good steady pace throughout, and you're shaking your legs until the credits wanting more. All of your expectations are met and keeps your adrenaline at a feel good sine rhythm throughout the entire 120 minutes, but surprisingly not too draining. Overall, highly enjoyed another bonafide adventure, we'd anticipated from Indiana Jones and highly recommend seeing it with friends and family. I give it a 5/5 stars, rank it 4th in the four series. Still my favorite would be ordered as Raiders, Crusade, Temple, and then Skull.

I've seen all the Flics at release and put this one next to last in my favorites in the series, at 34 years of age, I find the end of the Harison Ford phenom a dismal 3 out of 4 only ahead of 'Temple of Doom'. With a plot a 10year could figure out and a disply of disrespect for past films in the series this one seems more fantasy than reality. While I think the intro of the ill-ligitimate child a over due twist. He could well be the spawn of Indy and Miriam. In short you will know where this movie is heading from begining to end. It is entertainig but falls short of an instant clasic. I hope this was informitive without revealing any thing that would change any ones' decision to see this end of a prolific series. Even though it falls short of its hype.

It was a good movie, used a lot of the classic Indian Jones cinematography (sp?) and it left the door wide open for yet another movie, although I don't know about Shia LeBeouf being the one to carry the torch, although he did not do a bad job in the movie. I enjoyed the movie, and as always there was at least one part of the movie that had me saying both "ooh disgusting!" and making bad faces and saying "cool!!!" at the same time. Overall I enjoyed the movie and I'm left curious as to how they are going to keep the story going as the ending does leave you hanging.

Maybe the people who are giving it four and five stars just didn't really love the first three movies. If you had seen, grew up with, and loved Raiders, Doom and Crusade, there is not a snowball's chance in Africa that you would have liked this movie. Granted, there was an AWESOME chase scene and a pretty cool fight scene in the temple ruins. The rest of the movie though...it was bad. Here are just some of the reasons: 1) quoting other movies in a movie ("knife to a gunfight") 2) horrible acting in the first 5 minutes 3) No N@zis...he needs N@zis 4) No good villian. Cate was good in her role, but it was a bad role. 5) Shia swinging through the jungle with CGI monkies 6) CGI groundhogs...seriously? 7) Aliens. This particular part made it a "jump the shark" moment for the series In closing, the way that I see this movie is that they wanted to link Harrison Ford to Shia LaBeouf so that he could continue the series. Honestly, that doesn't bother me; I kind of liked the character. What this movie lacks is a reason to be connected to the artifact. Ark of the Covenant and Holy Grail are relics. Those little statues helped the village (although Doom wasn't much better). But the Alien doodoo was ridiculous and inexcusable. If you take the name Indiana Jones out of the title you end up with a 3-in-the-morning-SciFi-Channel movie.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Although it was far differant from what I saw as a child I found the movie to be a great action movie for my son. He loves the Indiana Jones series and thinks this one was the best yet. I loved the fact that I could bring my 8 year old to a show and not worry about reisky scenes and foul language. Great Job overall!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The beginning started off real slow and I was ready to be disappointed. The middle and end were good which made the movie worth seeing, but they should have figured out a way to leave the love interest from the first Indiana Jones out of it. It was apparent that she hasn't done much in Hollywood since then and her bad acting was pretty distracting. I could have waited until it was on DVD.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I've been a huge Indiana Jones fan from the beginning and I was terribly disappointed with the hokey storyline (especially the ending) and the strange lack of heart and humor of the originals. It just goes to show that George Lucas hasn't been up to par since "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Raiders" were made. And I love Harrison Ford, but he's just too old for these roles now. It was good to see him and Karen Allen, but the fascination stopped there.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Indiana Jones was brought back from retirement just to show us why he was retired. I understand the the conclusion of old heroes is the new era of movies, but keep in mind that not all movies or actors can not keep up with the story line. Better now than later. It's about time Indiana Jones realize that he is too old to be fighting russians. Andropause, that's what it is.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

The script, the cinematography, the direction, the acting and the editing all were just off the mark, sloppy, compared to the first Indiana Jones movies. It's as though they pushed to have this one....but no one's heart really was in it. I'd tell friends to pass...and keep the great memories of Indiana Jones movies.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

A good action/adventure movie that's completely ruined by the final 10 minutes.
This Indiana Jones stretches reality further than any of the previous movies and the sci-fi element is poorly incorporated. Perhaps Spielberg should have left in the typical 'power of God' element for a more believable cinematic experience.
I would recommend seeing it as a good movie overall, but it's definitely not in the vein of the original Indiana Jones.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
