Had there not been three previous Indiana movies I would probably have given this movie 5 stars but lets face it...this movie has some big shoes to fill. I only have two real complaints regarding this movie. One, the story didn't follow quite like the originals. Two, while all the movies have Indiana Jones doing crazy things to get out of trouble this one just pushed it a little too far for my tastes. All that being said, it really is a good movie and I would have no reservations recommending it to a friend. It did what a movie is supposed to do, entertain. (something Hollywood seems to forget)

The movie was traditional Indiana Jones actions, but the story line left me wanting more. There was something missing and I just couldn't place it. Frankly the ending gave me the impression that the writers were still on strike and that Harrison Ford plans on taking the roll of the old man when the kid comes back for the next one.... Still worth the price of a ticket and even popcorn.

I was very dissapointed in this movie. Having been a long time fan of Indiana Jones, this version was not the same. Not only has Harrison Ford and Karen Allen both aged a lot, but they were not convincing in their former character roles. The kid (Shia LaBeouf) was Ok, but I think he was much better in Transformers last year. I would say rent this movie if you must, but do not waste your hard earned dollars on it. I also think the special effects were pretty lousy and so was the 'science fiction' theme.

Being the Indiana Jones fan that I am, I was so excited when I learned that there was going to be a fourth installment. And then I found out Shia LeBeouf was starring as the "kid" and I had flashbacks to the Temple of Doom (which almost ended my love of all things Harrison Ford).
Despite a ridiculously campy entrance a la James Dean, LeBeouf handled the role of Mutt surprisingly well. It was a good fit, I'll admit that.
The movie does have its pitfalls. I don't think I would necessarily recommend it to non-Indy fans. There are certain points where I could not suspend the element of disbelief (ie surviving a nuclear bomb in a refridgerator). I also think George Lucas was mixing a little too much Star Wars in his Indiana Jones. The plot was a little too "far far away" for me.
As a whole, I certainly enjoyed the movie. I will admit to sitting on the edge of my seat and rooting for Indy (Harrison Ford is still sexy in a fedora...even at 65).
However, if this is going to be your first exposure to the Indiana Jones franchise, rent Raiders of the Lost Ark first.

So - I am not 14 any more. I knew this going into the movie - and I was reminded of it during the movie.
Some people have complained saying that this movie was 'unbelievable' and that it asked to much of fans. I could not disagree more. This film is fun adventure, period.
It is family friendly, and just an exciting ride. I really enjoyed how the 'mytery' in the film had a bit of a sci-fi edge. It was very different than waht I expected, and was pleased with the action, the acting, and the sets.

For fans, there's a lot to like in this installment. Much has been made of Indy's gray hair but time marches on even for movie heroes! I'm a fan, so the movie went down easily with no bad after taste. Well - only a little. There are lots of reprised bits from the previous adventures - some clear/apparent, others require some knowledge of the series. Cate Blanchett was a good villianess - over the top when needed including the Russian accent. Speilberg pays homage to at least one non-Indiana Jones film and that may be my biggest disappointment. Not the homage, but the last fifteen minutes that went with it.

If you loved the rest of this series, than you will no doubt love this film. Staying true to the Indiana Jones movies this film is jam packed with action and adventure alongside an excellent story line connecting history with fiction. Spielberg and Lucas also kept the use of cg to a minimum which gives this film that original, true adventure style feel to it. To round off the film there is also tons of that classic Indy humor that only Harrison Ford could deliver. If you haven't seen this film go out and see it because it's a guaranteed good time for all ages.

I can not believe I waisted 2 hours of my life on this one. I really liked all the other Indiana Jones movies, but this was a beating. I was seriously playing Tetrus on my cell phone during a portion of the movie. Since when does IJ have aliens??? And could we make the movie a little more cheesy??? I don't know if I would even suggest paying to rent this movie. If you are a big fan, wait until it comes on public TV.

We went to see this film for our son's 11th birthday. As with the other Indiana Jones moives (and the Young Indaina Jones series), this movie included the flavor of the time period in which it was set. It was fun to discuss the history of the time period with our children afterwards. The only negatives I would note were a few blips of bad language. It was a little on the visually scary side, but it is rated PG-13 for a reason.

I've enjoyed all the prior Indiana Jones movies- because they were fast paced and believable- Unlike this mess of a movie. In this latest version- the action hero is older than Celine Dion's husband- which made most scenes unbelievable. But overall, most of the movie dragged on without any action. Speilberg et al should be sending me my ticket price back.

I think Mr. Spielberg has finally run out of ideas. He was really scraping the barrel with this one, using many ideas from other movies. The movie was disconnected and completely ridiculous. Yes it is fantasy, but the earlier Raiders had some things in it you could grasp on to. The characters were weak, Marion was pitiful! I can see Disney maybe updating their Park Ride with a few of the stunts, but that is all this movie is good for. With the price of a movie ticket these days.. wait for the video!

As a 30 something, it was fun to have my kids as excited about an Indiana Jones movie as I was for Raiders. They used the term "edge of my seat". I thought it was a worthy sequel with very typical Indiana Jones special effects and situations. Overall, a fun movie to watch.

It was great to see all the old cast reunited (as much as possible) and the movie was good. Not as exciting as the original Raider's of the lost Ark.. was one of those movies where all of the sudden you say. ..."is that it? Is it over?" Harrison Ford did a great job, but seemed a little too tamed for the Indie role, but haven't we all aged a bit since the original movie? Overall it's worth seeing, but I would recommend a matinee to save the cost!

Well, I enjoyed this movie and thought it was interesting & fun--even after reading lots of reviews ahead of time! Was it breathtaking? - no. My husband thought the story line had too many believability problems--but this stuff appears that was to me all the time..being a designer and seeing how all the special effects come together and such. Someone else thought this movie was 'OK'. I don't think Shia or Karen Allen added that much to the story...other than tying up some loose ends. I always love Cate Blanchett--but a Russian villain just seems stale these days--even if this is the 50's. Even an Eastern historical 'precursor' villain would have been more interesting. So--I guess not a lot of surprise--just general lively entertainment is how I would describe this. Worth seeing--but if on a budget, you could rent.

Just horrible! I can't believe what they did to the series, Indiana Jones would have been better served if this movie had never been made. At least in the older films, movies that I have loved my whole life, when Indy lived it wasn't so stupid, they made it somewhat believeable. Spielberg got confused halfway through the movie and started writing the sequel to close encounters of the third kind and totally forgot about Jones. Terrible, absolutely terrible, I want my monies back!

I am a big fan of the Indiana Jones trilogy. The 1st and 3rd being my favorites and I have to say this movie was a hugh Bomb. I am embarressed for Ford,Speilberg and Karen Allen. I would like to see Ford and Speilberg offer to donate all proceeds from this movie to charity, that's how bad I feel we were ripped off.

The movie was enjoyable but they sure didn't spend much time on coming up with the plot. Seems like they just wanted to crank something out without too much development.

I'm a fan of Indiana Jones. Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of the all time best movies. I thought the first sequel was so-so, and the Last Crusade was marginally good. But this movie...was....terrible. I know that the movies are always a bit of a stretch in the action scenes, but they took it beyond ridiculous. Why was Cate Blanchett playing the role of Natasha from Rocky and Bullwinkle? And why did she lose her extreme Russian accent in some of her lines? The sword fight between her and Shia on the moving jeeps took way way way too long. Don't waste your money. This is nothing more than Spielberg and Lucas cashing a check.

Kind of corney... some of the sets seemed cheesy... and everything else the critics and radio personalities have been talking about... but it was still nice to see... and find out how things turned out. I liked the continuity from the last movie where we got to know his dad... to the current movie and people in his life. Don't go in with big expectations... and you'll like it more.

This movie was a HUGE disappointment. The script was terrible. An alien movie? This isn't Indiana Jones. Additionally, Lucas has him doing things that are totally out of character for Indiana Jones. He puts up almost no resistance when the Russians want his help. This is just one example. Only one action scene was decent. The motorcycle scene early in the movie was good. The later scenes appear to be completely fake. CGI has been overused in this film. I expect that in some movies, but not from Spielberg. Additionally, most of the action in this film was completely unbelievable. The main characters would have been dead long before the waterfall scene. At least the action in the previous films was plausible, if not likely. This film is pure fantasy. No one could survive the first waterfall, let alone three. Finally, there is no spark. No tension. No surprises. Nothing fresh in the action or drama. Lucas and Spielberg really screwed up on this one. It will be tough for me to give them any more of my money in the future.

I really enjoyed this movie and I am glad that the movie feels and looks like it belongs with the other 3 movies. The nods to characters and events from the other movies was fun to look for and notice. A must-see for Indy fans and it is a good way to spend two hours away from the real world!
