I don't want to give away any elements of the plot.... But the movie was VERY enjoyable and I only had a few things I would have changed about it: 2 chase sequences went on too long, some jokes were repeated waaay too often, and there was not enough Cate Blanchett and too much of a character they called "Mack." Otherwise, pretty much a perfect movie. Loved it. :)

As an avid Indy fan, I went with high expectations. How could this miss...Harrison Ford, Steven Spielberg, a great formula from the past. But it missed the target completely. Sometimes great special effects, for the sake of creating excitement has the opposite effect. I found myself bored at times. And, inexplicable action with silly outcomes. On the positive side, I did enjoy Cate Blanchett as the evil Russian villainess. Fans will go and they will clap and cheer, but if they are honest, they will come away feeling that they should have left well enough alone.

Overall, this movie was decent. It followed the same lines as the previous Indy movies.

I don't know who came up with the idea of mixing Indiana Jones and Star Wars, but the outcome is a bit absurd. Like the character "Ox", who goes crazy from staring into the eyes of the skull for too long, I think George Lucas pushed a little too far in the 19 years between this and the previous Indy films. Luckily, although the concept and storyline are some of the most ridiculous I have seen to date, the acting and longtime love of the series carried me through what otherwise would have been one of the most mediocre films of the season.

I potentially had too high of expectations for this film, which would explain my disappointment. It was sadly very predictable. There were no shocking revelations or surprises. You knew who the bad guys were from the very beginning and what would happen to them. There was no sense of betrayal when a character showed what side they really were on. While it was good to see that time had marched on and things weren't so easy and the country had changed, it didn't make up for the fact that there was something missing from the film. I'd still recommend seeing it but it was a disappointment. It seemed to rely too much on the past films and the franchises popularity making it a water downed version of what it could have been.

First it was so great to see Harrison Ford back on the screen as Indiana Jones. I thought the movie was Awesome. Great effects and the scenery was amazing. Computer generations was very nicely blended with real life, very believable, smooth changes. I thought the story line was a little weak. They didn’t send much time on the building up the characters’ background. Lot of fast pace action. The movie jumped right into the action. I didn’t know what (was going to happen next), refreshing change for once. I loved the movie and I love Indiana Jones. I sure hope they make another one I just can’t get enough of Indy. I think this is a must see on the big screen. Well to go Steven Spielberg I give it two thumbs up.

So I'll admit I am a die-hard fan of Indiana Jones. But after watching the movie I realized that I need to stop trying to compare this movie to the others and recognize it was different... but in a good way. First thing this movie does an excellent job of capturing the 1950's era from communist scares to nuclear testing, its important to recognize that this change of era really does change the feel of the movie. Also, while Indy is still great you can tell that its Indy is in fact older. This is not a bad thing, just recognize that the youthful Indy is in the past and this Indy appears to be more connected to his job as a professor and more socially tied up in current events. But don't worry; he still has the moves and humor of the young Indy. You can tell that the filmmakers tried to pay homage to the pervious films without being overly obvious. This, in my opinion, makes the movie connected to the others but with blatantly throwing it in your face. Also, recognize that there is action, but I felt more dialogue than the others. Which is to be expected, the film has to present a new time period to us, what Indy has been up to these past years, who these new characters are in relation to Indy, and also explain what the Crystal Skull is. When it comes to the legend of the Crystal Skull, people tend to claim that what happened in the movie is fake or unreal. But like other Indy movies, Indy follows the clues to the source of the myth and just like all other movies the myth is real. The movie, I feel, does an excellent job of telling the audience about a myth that is relatively unknown but based upon some real legends. In many reviews there was a complaint about the CGI effects. This movie, I feel operates on a more grandiose level and the sets and action presented needs CGI to be filmed. The CGI is not bad, and never during the movie did I feel taken out of the experience due to it. If the audience can stop trying to make this movie fit in to the previous trilogy and experience this movie as perhaps as the beginning of different trilogy of Indy's later years, it makes for a better experience. That said, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, welcomes Indy to a new era and does a great job of doing so; fedoras off to this movie.

This movie was a fitting end to the Indiana Jones series of movies. The action sequences were up to the Indiana Jones standard set in the first three installments of the series – however the nuclear bomb blast was totally unbelievable. The storyline was not as well developed as the previous three Indy movies, but there was sufficient suspense to keep me interested. Brining back Karen Allen as Indy’s romantic interest from ROTLA was a good move, as the on-screen banter between Karen Allen and Harrison Ford was witty and entertaining.
This installment was not the best of the series (nothing can top Raiders of the Lost Arc, in my opinion), but it is worth the $9 to see it in the theaters.

wonderful storyline where Indy explored yet another of archaeology's myths, this in South America. action sequences were well done & did keep in mind Indy's in his 60s. it was nice seeing Karen Allen back as Marion Ravenwood, in my opinion the best of Indy's ladies. Ray Winstone did an excellent job as Indy's sidekick.

What do aliens, communism, archeology, magnetic crystal, man-eating ants and illegitimate children have in common?
Well, nothing. And apparently the creators of the latest Indiana Jones installment are in agreement citing the difficult time they had tying these dissimilar elements together into an entertaining and coherent action movie.
This movie was a complete departure from the superb formula established by Lucas/Spielberg in Raiders/Last Crusade: Choose an ancient Christian artifact rumored to have super natural power and have the academic-idealist-yet-tough-archaeologist Indiana Jones race German National Socialists to find said artifact. Have German National Socialists get there first and misuse it (which ultimately causes their demise), show Indiana marveling at it for a brief instant before it is wrenched from his grasp by a government official or freak act of nature. Oh and be sure to liberally inject exciting action sequences throughout.
Roll credits.
I don't want to give any spoilers so I'll just say that this movie was a COMPLETE departure from the above formula. It tries to straddle the line between action and sci-fi resulting in a film that does neither genre well. Add to this poorly written dialogue, bad direction and a few heavy-handed (if forced) attempts at fan-service and you get one VERY disappointing movie.
High points? Some really great action sequences and an excellent performance by Shia Lebouf but these are two small points of light on an endless expanse of stink are hardly enough to make up for all this movie's faults.
If you want to see an Indiana Jones movie this summer, I hear Best Buy has a box set...

Saw the movie at midnight when it opened. So glad that I did. This is a movie that is meant to be seen on the big screen and as soon as possible.
Indy is back and in spite of his age, he can still move and make quick quips. This movie was entertaining and in the spirit of the three earlier movies.

Literally, this movie is right out there! Leave your reality-based expectations at home and just take in all the action, the special effects, the fun of seeing the changes in Harrison Ford and Karen Allen, and try to appreciate the imagination of George Lucas and David Koepp. It's fast paced, has its humerous moments and goes way beyond good versus evil. Kind of like "The Mummy" meets "The Dark Crystal". Plenty of homage to prior Indy adventures and characters, its a fun trip down memory lane with some new life in the form of Shia LaBeouf. Don't try to figure it out the first time around, just enjoy it.

Everything you would expect from an Indiana Jones movie and more! Of course, when you grew up watching the original three in the theater, you are bound to go see this next, new installment. Harrison Ford is considerably older in this movie and it shows, but so what? It was still enjoyable. Is it as great as the original three? No. However, it is still good entertainment. Some parts of the movie seem to drag out a bit, some are kind of cheesy, but overall it still has the same "Indy flavor " that we all love and remember. Good movie!

Going in I had relatively high expectations as I am of the generation that caught these movies in their proverbial hayday. All I can say it is a thoroughly enjoyable movie for the summer and seeing Harrison Ford as Indy is nothing short of magical. For those expecting to see Raiders or Temple or Crusade, it won't happen. Wayyy to cheesy!! Some parts were really funny, but the whole movie was wayy to predictable and the ending was lame.

I never really connected with this movie as much as I hoped I would. It had a few great moments, but much of it wasn't much different than all the other Indiana Jones wannabe movies we've had over the years like The Mummy and National Treasure. Thanks to Spielberg, Karen Allen, and the moments where Harrison Ford didn't look like he was pretending to seem interested about Aliens in an Archaeology adventure, it did rise above those imitators.

the story was not exceptional. We enjoyed the movie, as you weren't sure what you'd see next. The acting was very good but Kate Blanchett's Russian accent took on a bit of an British twist occasionally. Overall, it was a fun way to spend 2 hours.

What a huge disappointment. Awful script, no direction. How did they do this? Why are most movies this bad lately? I have to say that I was confident going in, but they lost me about a third of the way through.

I love Indiana Jones. This was most definitely an Indiana Jones movie. Now granted, the plot was a little far fetched (even for an Indiana Jones movie) and the the story was a little underdeveloped (even for an action flick) but it still had the same gut busting, mood lifting, clap inducing thrills shared by the rest of the franchise and I left praising the heavens that they didn't butcher all I hold dear. In the end it accomplished everything a good Indiana Jones movie should. Save the world, beat the bad guys, and win the girl. And honestly, who can really question that?
