My kids loved the movie, and my opinion is that if you A). were a fan of the cartoon series and B). have children then that is what this movie is targeting. A+

I was surprised at the depth of this movie for the adults. I even cried in two scenes!! On the other end of the spectrum, my son was beside himself with excitement! He cheered and clapped his hands, and he wasn't the only one in the theater doing it either!! Great movie for young and old alike!!!

This movie works if you check your reality at the door, get a big bucket of popcorn, and just have fun! Could have done without the swearing and the kid flipping the bird. This should have been focused for kids as well as the baby boomer's! If you get dizzy watching a lot of fast camera angles, this movie is not for you on the big screen!

I guess I wanted to relive my childhood... and used my 11 year old son as an excuse. The movie is loaded with action. At times it can be a visual overload. Great mix of animation with the real actors. (Things have come a long way since my childhood) The plot can be very confusing for a child so I explained it to my son as we went along. Ironically, my son was somewhat bored for the first 3/4 of the movie then loved the end; while I keyed in on the actors during the the same period. Nice choice of actors. May be a little too much for a child under 12.

This was a fast movie. It holds the interest of both adults and children. However, at times, it was a little scarey for my 8 year old and she was very aware of the language that was used. I was a little shocked by it also. It could have been just as good w/o "Sprite" using his middle finger. With all that said, it was a good movie, but my children won't be seeing it again.

Great movie. Good story line, amazing graphics, visually breath-taking, funny in some parts, scary in others. Just a great movie for most of the family. A couple of fight scenes with a little blood, but truly not anything worse than Saturday morning cartoons. If you loved the original cartoon, you'll more than love this movie.

The W bros did a great job of converting this old anime TV show into a real living breathing movie with live characters. The graphics were great and how they merged with the live scenes was impressive - it was a great story line full of thrills and twists in the plot.

I saw this movie on opening night. At 42, that's how much of a fan that I am. It's hard to say whether this movie will appear to kids or tweens who unfamiliar with the cartoon series. However, if you walk in, leaving all judgments and expectations at the door, you may come away with a curiosity about this 60s tv series. If that curiosity translates into actually catching an episode, you'll understand why it works and how the Wachowski's are the only people that could bring this to screen sucessfully.

I wasn't real sure what to expect in this movie, but it was great! I really enjoyed it! It's an action packed adventure that everyone would enjoy. There were several expletives but, I took my kids to see it and they loved it! Well worth the price of a ticket!

I have never seen the cartoon as a kid and didn't really know what to expect except that it was a PG/kids movie. Well, there were multiple curse words of different sorts and a little kid flipping the bird. I don't think this is a kid friendly film. Granted my 9 year old was laughing hysterically during one scene, I would not see this movie again and will NOT recommend it to others. I guess our culture is so immune to cursing that it doesn't matter to most parents, but I'd prefer my 7 and 9 year old girls not to curse or hear it in a film that should have been for kids.

Saw it on friday on a regular screen and then on Saturday in IMAX. I'm not a great fan of the matrix trilogy and consider myself unbiased. This was a really wonderful homage to Speed Racer, one of the few sixties series done justice to. I've already recommended it and would recommend it to anyone (especially if you have kids... of any age) Don't know why the critics are panning it. I just don't get it.

This is the most colorful movies I have seen in quite some time. The animation behind the characters is excellent. A good plot, although not hard to guess whats happening next. It is a feel good movie. The actors all played their parts well, including the chimp. The racing scenes can be a little intense at times, but overall a wonderful movie for the family.

I agree - if you watched this when you were a kid, you'll love this movie! It's not as hokey as the cartoon; I wanted to cheer out loud at the end. We skipped out to the car, 9 yr old in hand, singing "Go Speed Racer". As for inappropriate scenes - there aren't any; Popeye cartoons are x rated compared to this. (Children under 6 may get bored).

LOVED IT! I used to watch the original series as a kid so the fact that everything was so spot on really meant a lot to me. The characters were very much like I remember them. I love this new surrealist film era that we seem to have entered. The colors were so bright and everything moved so fast it almost felt like I was back home watching cartoons.

I did not know what to expect. It was rated PG so I figured it was okay for my 6 year old son. A couple parts were not appropriate for him. The movie is a little long, but my son and his friend both loved it. At times during the movie he would say "Go Speed Go" and start singing the theme song. Some of the Dialogue in the beginning was probably a little long and could have been shortened. I have been watching the original cartoons on DVD and I think this movie is very good at explaining the story line and then the vibrant colors making the movie look like a very modern cartoon at times...it really is finely done. The racing scenes were very cool and we all loved it!

First half was slow. Too much flashback. People started walking out of the theater. I haven't seen that since Dick Tracy! Anyway, the second hour was....excellent. Maybe the next one will learn from this...kinda like the first Star Trek movie vs. The Wrath of Kahn. BTW, I was a huge Speed Racer fan as a kid so I really respect the effort here.

My kids loved it. It was over the top and was somewhat cartoonish, but it had a real story, drama, and displayed family values and morals very well. I would have given it five stars, but it did go on a bit too long.

I was sceptical about seeing the the movie based on my fascination with it in my youth. The commercials made it appear to be cheezy and I didn't want good memeories to be ruined as they have been with other movies. Upon seeing it would I would recommend it to anyone who is a Speed Racer fan. It is one of the few movies that sticks to the original storyline and has been revamped to meet the wants of todays movie goers.

I didn't really know what to expect. I was just taking my children (ages 5,6 and 10) to a kids movie. It was a too long for children. But for the most part after you established the characters you were in to the plot. The cinematagraphy was definitely different. THERE IS SOME INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE FOR CHILDREN. It is not necessary to use those words to make the point. BUT we actually cheered at the end of the movie. The fight scenes were great. And what can I say...anything with Matthew Fox in it can't be bad at all!

Good movie for families with younger and older children to see together. Liked the series but this high tech version is better. Think there will be a sequel for sure!

My husband & I enjoyed the series when we were kids and had fun sharing the movie version with our own kids. It was a heart-pounding good time. We definitely will buy it when it comes to video. The one drawback was the hand gesture - could have done without that for the kids.

I too read all the negative reviews and ignored them. Grew up racing home to watch the cartoon, and I would race to see this again. Loved it for what it is a great cartoon turned into a great movie. Don't go into this expecting an "oscar " caliber film go and sit back and be entertained.
