Took 2 of my 3 boys, ages 6 1/2 and 4. We don't see/go to many "scary" or sad kid movies yet, but loved Monsters Inc. and we were hoping this would be similar. At 2 different points in the movie, each of them said they wanted to "go home" b/c they were scared. I was happy to leave if they wanted, but then they decided they wanted to stay. It all ended fine and they thought the movie was "ok". Personally, I thought Bob was absolutely hilarious (I'm a huge Seth Rogen fan). Decent movie, maybe a little much if your kids aren't used to scary creatures. :)

took my grandchildren age 5 and 8. The five year old sat through it very well, the 8 year old absorbed it totally and talked all about how the monsters evolved to everyone that asked. i laughed out loud many times. we all enjoyed the movie and would recommend it, but not for any child under 5 (they wouldn't get it.

This movie was hilarious, both I and my two girls loved it! A little scary at the beginning for little kids, but it soon settles down into a laugh groove, lots of physical comedy and jokes that work on all levels. I'd say eight and up for kids.

I've heard this movie panned for lack of clever writing, and I just don't get it. It may not have the layers of cultural references that the Toy Story or Shrek franchises have, but that doesn't mean it completely lacks depth. We (mom, teen boy, tween boy) thought it was a great movie with fun, original characters, great action, and some really clever lines and plot movers that had us laughing out loud.

This movie was way too violent for children under 10. I took my boys (5 & 3) thinking it was going to be like Monsters, Inc. Boy was I wrong. This movie was loud, scary, violent and not funny at all. Very, very disappointed.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
