I really enjoyed the movie, but the ending could have been better! I was waiting for the fight after dumbeldore died. The part I really wanted to see was the funeral. I wanted to see what the director would come up with to shoot that scene and how dumbledore and cast would have looked. Over all it was a good movie but if you didnt read the book you would have been lost even if you had watched the previous movies!

This was one of the best movies I've ever seen in my life. The special effects were great and you felt really empathetic with the characters. The acting was superb and snape killed dumbledore. The movie was a lttle on the long side but while you're in the theatre you won't even notice the time going by. This movie was ALMOST as good as Spiderman 3.

Six of us saw this on Opening Day - ages ranging from 9 to 67 - and the movie entertained all of us. I loved it: great plot, wonderful special effects...it provided a fun escape. I have not read the books, however. My 11 year old, who has, was bothered by one plot point which didn't happen in the book and was a feature of the movie.

Thought the movie was true to the book in that they didn't mess up the main story line.
Obviously, much of the detail of the book cannot be reflected in 2.5 hours, but I thought it was a good representation of the key parts of the book.
I found the acting and the humor the best of the six movies.
Too little time spent on the intrigue of who the Half Blood Prince is, but a solid entry in the series that preps for Deathly Hallows.
I hope the next two movies are the ones that make the jump to exceptional.

I was not impressed at all with this movie. They just skipped over the high points of the book and completely left out the attack on hogwarts at the end. Yes they brought the main bad guys in but in the book it was a war fought by all of the students and deatheaters. I thought the movie did not have enough action in it

Very disappointing for such a long wait in between movies. Hardly followed the book at all. I love the books and was afraid I'd make a fool of myself crying when Prof Dumbledore died, but I was so detached from the movie at that point it was almost unnoticed. A real let down.

I enjoyed Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince a great deal. Although a darker movie than the early ones, there was still enough humor to keep it from being depressing. However, I thought the idea of the half-blood prince was blown over. Yes, Harry had his text book, yes it helped him with things, but it was as if it wasn't a big part of the movie. It was not explained why Snape was called that and if you hadn't read the books, you wouldn't know. I realize the movie can't cover everything, but since this was the title of the movie, I felt they should have addressed it more thoroughly.

This latest storyline is not as dark and menacing as the last, although there are a couple of scary scenes. I think most kids would be fine to see it. They may not, however, appreciate all the time spent on the public displays of affection going on at Hogwart's.

I thought this movie was good and would recommend it to anyone who is in to Harry Potter like myself. Although, I wish there would have been a little bit more on Draco Malfoy and his struggle to the dark side. I think a lot was left out and it left me hanging in the end. I'm a big fan of the Harry Potter books and movies. I think the actors did a wonderful job in the Half Blood Prince. I especially like who they picked to play Slughorn. But the changes to the story line, I feel, were unacceptable. I understand they need to edit the storyline down because of time constraints but they completely added scenes that were not in the book. Why not leave that nonsense out and put something in that they actually cut from the book?!?!? Anyway, I waiting in line for six hours Tuesday night for the midnight showing and now wish I had those 6 hours of my life back. If you must see it, please consider waiting a couple weeks until the hype dies down. You'll thank me if you do.

Well done movie but will leave H.P. fans feeling down. Due to the seriousness of the subject matter, moviegoers wanting young wizards having fun at school will be let down. Readers of the novels know what to expect. It will get rougher from here until the final battle. I enjoyed the movie but won't be seeing it again until it's released on DVD.

It's been quite a number of years since I've read this book, which, in my opinion, is probably a very good idea. I don't even have to re-read the book to know that this movie left out at least one major component. I thought it was ok, but the friend who I saw it with thought it was quite boring up until the last 30 minutes of the movie.
So, I suppose the question remains: Was it worth it? No, I certainly don't think this movie is worth paying the ridiculous amount charged for movies nowadays. And I would NOT recommend reading/rereading the book directly before seeing it as I suspect you'll be sorely disappointed. But overall I thought it was ok. Definitely some funny moments, and some cute stuff.

The acting was very good but the movie felt rushed, despite the two and a half hour length. There were few connections from one scene to the next. As an avid reader of the books, I was highly disappointed by the exclusion of some major scenes. The ending was very anti-climatic and didn't really feel like an ending. The book is much more exciting and wraps things up more cleanly. I know they can't include the entire book, but (SPOILER COMING UP!) excluding the battle that takes place within the castle and the funeral at the end was very disappointing and made it feel incomplete. I hope they are more faithful to the book for the final two movies.

This was the best Harry Potter movie so far! It was funny, suspenseful, and touching! There was also a lot more of Snape, my favorite character! Rupert Grint, who I think is the best of the three actors, had some great uproariously funny scenes, too. There were a little too many adult references for comfort, though. I thought it should have been rated at least PG-13, especially considering the two previous movies which weren't even as bad as this one were rated PG-13. And the romantic moments were a little much and way too cheesy for me. I couldn't help but roll my eyes at those scenes. But other than that, I enjoyed the movie immensely, and would definitely recommend it to everyone who loves the series and anybody who enjoys good movies!

I have read all the books and even though I would like the movies to be exactly like the book, the directors have been doing a good job. I loved the movie and I have been telling everyone about it. All most all of the time the books are better but that's cause the movies can't be 10 hours long. I love them all!

Great book, terrible movie. They focused an exceptional amount on the relationships developing between teenage girls and boys, turning a story that encompasses all age groups into a teenage soap opera. We never saw Snape teach Defense Against the Dark Arts and only two memories of Voldemort were visited. The action scenes, such as the one in the cave, were rushed and unimpressive. Instead of using the short amount of time they had for explanations, the writers of the screenplay decided to spend precious five-ten intervals on ridiculous flirting scenes or random, action-packed battles that were nowhere to be found in JK Rowling's book.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

It was a decent movie that I overall enjoyed, but it just didn't have the 'magic' of the other films.
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is a dark tale. The movie tried to be very dark, which it succeeded at except for the running gag of 'hormonal' innuendo which to me got very old very quick. It seemed like humor was forcibly thrown in to keep the story from being too depressing. This is a dissapointment...while the book does the same thing (but much more successfully), in the movie it simply did not work.
I'm still looking forward to the final two movies. But overall, I was not too impressed and am disappointed in the movie adaptation of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

This movie movie failed the book series miserably. Key storylines were left out, while the beginning, middle and end were re-written entirely. I had expected deviations from the book as all the movies have been this way, but never to this degree. This movie seemed like a long segue for the last two films in the series. If you're a true Potter Fan don't waste your time.
