Few movies are as good as the book they are based on. Taking into account this was a 650 page book, a lot had to be left out. Overall it was a good movie, but too much was left out, and some scenes never happened in the book. I would still recommend the movie. The characters are true to the book, and the tone of the movie was great.

the best advice anyone can give about this movie is if you really want to see it you need to be able to step back and look at it as a movie and dont compare it to the book. talk to people that have never read the books and they will say it was great talk to a potter fanatic and all he will do is complain because he couldnt look at it for what it is. an excellent movie.

For being 2.5 hours long, I didn't notice the time. Very entertaining and they did what they could with the amount of things in the book. They cannot possibly include everything. What they did include were the major points and I was entertained...which was the whole point. We get a bit more Ron this time. :)

This movie severly lacked plot and information. Speaking of plot, or what little they did not masacare, it was given away from about fifteen minutes in to the end. There was much needed information on voldemorts past that was left out. With out this information one cannot hope to understand the seventh movie. so I say read the book if you truly want all of the warm fuzzy feelings, laughs, and tear jerking moments that were denied in the movie.

This one deviated from the book more than the others, but it kept the spirit. The ending was a big let-down, and wasn't true to Harry's character. He looked afraid to act instead of overwhelmed or overpowered.

I went to the movie knowing there was no way it would compete with the book, but this had to be about the worst of the series yet. you dont go to a harry potter film expecting everything from the book to be included, but i was surprised by the amount of what i considered important scenes to be dropped. and completely stunned by the amount Changed. after making it through the movie, i was hoping that the end of the movie would make up for it, but no, Dumbledore's funeral was Entirely left out. by far, the most disappointing of the harry potter films. the only redeaming quality was the extra humor

I am an avid Harry Potter fan and I was left highly disappointed by this film. I can not see how anyone can say this movie stayed w/ the book. Things that should be put into the seventh film were in this one, key characters were left out, the final "battle" scene was a joke! I'll still buy the movie for my collection but I'm not about to spend another $10 to see it in the theater. Pitiful!!!

I was so amped up for this movie, and was not let down. I haven't read the books, I got into the franchise late in the game and decided I will read the books after I've seen all the movies (so I can't compare that). This was of course an awesome movie, I do wish there was a little more action but it had all the added comedy. So funny, teen angst, gotta love it. Can't wait for the next one.

This is a very well done movie. The effects were spectacular! It did seem a little long and repetitive at times, though. My 17 and 14 year olds definitely enjoyed it. Both had read the book previously.

This latest edition in the saga of Harry Potter was done very well. It did stray a bit more from the book than the other films did, however, it did so without losing any of the magic. The ending was a bit of a bummer, but it was in the book also. I look forward to the next installment.

The comedy was very good through out the whole movie. The movie left out some key points that were in the book and there was a good deal of things cut in the movie and some things added to the movie that wheren't in the book. But what do you expect things are going to have to be cut and things changed to make it all fit into a certian time schedual. But as far as the movie goes take your kids to see it , take your grandmother, aunts and uncles, heck take the homeless guy down the street because all in all its a very good movie. You will be very happy with your movie selection. It is very kid and adult friendly so enjoy. So I hoped you enjoyed my review of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

Keeping in the spirit with the other Harry Potter movies, this movie was lacking some vital points. With that said, it was a great movie with a good blend of humor and darkness. The actors did a great job with their comedy relief in a movie that is intended to be dark. There were also a couple of scary scenes, well, scary enough to make me jump out of my seat...Overall, if you are a Harry Potter fan and are well aware that many things from the book will be missing, you will definitely enjoy the movie.

Firstly the movie was well crafted and well acted. Second, my Harry Potter back ground is my family read every book outloud cover to cover. Third, the movie. Every part of the book I wanted to see was gone. The minister of magic did not meet the Prime minister, no battle in the castle, and the respect that a character like Dumbledore deserves was cut out. NO FUNERAL! Apparently the movie template of Twilight was followed and The HBP was turned into a chick flick. Girls, virtually all the teen love was left in. Boys, Greyback was reduced to a cool looking Deatheater, nothing more. Malfoy's desperation was conveyed well. Also Harry and Jenny will be nominated for best kiss.

The exciting thing is: lots of clues of whats to potentially come, tied some more history in to reveal meaning and hope for bigger action in next episode. I have read all the books & watched all the movies thus far & let me just say - OF COURSE the books are better & more detailed. That's not the point. The movies are GREAT! The books are even better...so watch the movie first & then go read the book & you will thoroughly enjoy both. This MOVIE (book not reviewed here) was very satisfying... in terms of magic, romance, adventure, effects & character consistency & development. I liked this MOVIE better than the last MOVIE because there was not so much overt evil & terror. I really enjoy the Harry Potter movies and this one did not disappoint me. Very good acting. Great special effects. Mostly followed the book. I enjoyed the bits of humor that was throughout the movie. I would highly recommend this to anyone. Can't wait for the next one.

The movie, overall was great. There were a few key scenes that they left out that I think would have added to the film. Also, some very important scenes were redone all together.
I was personally taken a back at some of the complete changes in scenes from the book to the movie. I would assume this is because I am a huge HP book fan so I was expecting each scene to play out just the way the book had it. So, if you have read this book, know that some major scenes are changed drastically.
The humor was the best out of all the HP movies. Very funny, not crude, not forced, and memorable.
I would definitely recommend this movie to all Harry Potter fans!!!

I read a review that indicated this movie was a placeholder to the seventh and eighth movies, and after seeing it, I agree. I think it was a good movie, but once the other movies come out, it will be understood why the sixth movie was completed this way. This has to be a lead-in to the excitement of the last movies. Now if the last movies don't accurately depict the seventh book, I will be very disappointed in the director and screenplay writer as I was in the epilogue of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

I was super excited to see this movie because it was my favorite book. but the movie deviated from the book more than it should have. I understand that they of course had to cut stuff out, but they should have not added things that didn't happen and keep the exciting parts that are at the end of the book! while the end of the book was action packed the end of the movie was rather boring with the villains just walking away without any opposition.
