Melissa McCarthy and Sandra Bullock did very well in this movie, and appeared to have worked well together. I would like to see some of the outtakes done since some of the lines were improvised, and were probably very funny.
My only issue with this is the lack of female involvement in the behind the scenes work and the soundtrack played, which was somewhat derogatory towards women. I bring this up because I watched an interview for this movie, and one of the things noted was that this is the only movie being released this summer with strong female leads. However, it did not appear a lot of women were a part of the creative process. I should note I know the writer, who is also one of the producers, is female, but, this is not be a movie I would take a girl to due to the lack of female involvement. I also would probably not support any soundtrack released in connection with this movie, unless some of the songs played during the movie were not in there.
In going to see this movie, it was known what the basic premise of the movie would be. The Apocalypse happened, and all of these famous people had to tough it out. Well, some toughed it out, and some were killed. In watching it, you had to remember it was a comedy. It was a slow start, but once it started going, I was laughing from the beginning to the end. In fact, at one point, I probably laughed at things that others did not get, but I think it was because they had not seen all of the movies that the main core of actors had been in. I am glad I went to see this, and will definitely get it on DVD when it comes out. It was definitely worth the money.
Before watching it, you should know it will not be like the first two movies. (*Spoiler alert* They do not end up with a hangover like the other two.) This was definitely a good wrapping up of the movies. Ken Jeong has a bigger part of the movie, and it was good to see John Goodman in an "evil" guy role. I enjoyed watching this movie.
The first thing to say is that you have to see the other recent Marvel movies before watching Iron Man 3. There are a lot of references from those movies in Iron Man 3.
Despite this, I would say this is one of the best Robert Downey, Jr. movies, especially as Iron Man. You get to see him not only be a down to earth man kicking butt, but also a man in love. I see this being more of a love story than an action movie, which is probably why I enjoyed as I was not expecting it. All of the actors did well in the movie.
My only issue would be the end of the movie and the post-credit scene, but I know this was done to help transition to the next Marvel movie.
I had not known it was based on a true story. I think if I had not known, I would have probably laughed harder and enjoyed it thoroughly, especially since it features three men that are sexy in their own rights. Unfortunately, with knowing it was based on a true story, it made me question how/why this was made into a film. So, despite the above ratings, my only issue is that there were true victims in this, and the attempt at comedy may have been a little too much. Yes, I realize the contradiction in this review, so I would only say, if you see it, either forget this is based on a true story or remember everything was probably exaggerated, so you can laugh here and there.
I am a fan of Bruce Willis and the Die Hard series, so I definitely had to see the newest one. Unfortunately, the movie seemed too forced. There were attempts at humor, but most of the jokes were not good. The special effects were good. I wondered how many cars were actually demolished in the making of this film or if it was all special effects. It is great seeing Bruce Willis in a new film, but this definitely will not need to be seen again. However, if you want to see Jai Courtney in tight shirts, this is definitely the movie to see.
I had high expectations about this movie, and was glad that it did not fail. I think everyone did a very good job in the direction of this movie. I am glad that I was able to see it during opening weekend.
I should start by saying that I did not pick this movie to see, but was glad to have seen it. Not only was the story interesting, but the actors did a great job (although I have to admit that I was waiting for Shia LaBeouf's character to be a little more of a fighter.) The actor that played Forrest Bondurant, Tom Hardy, is definitely on my list of actors to look for in future movies as he was very convincing in his role.
I have definitely decided to want to read the book that this is based on as I want to know more about the Bondurant family, and their involvement in the moonshine industry during Prohibition. This was a great movie.
This was definitely a movie worth seeing, even if you have not followed the other Marvel movies starring the main heroes. However, it would make it easier if people see Thor and Captain America to understand the back stories of The Avengers. I agree with others that I wish Edward Norton had been The Incredible Hulk, but Mark Ruffalo did well.
The movie was definitely worth it. It was a good blend of suspense and action with a little humor thrown in, especially when least expected. Denzel may be an older, experienced actor, but Ryan Reynolds was able to keep up. All in all, great movie.
