The book was left in the gutter which seems to be this Director's and WB's mantra for HP. Special effects were the movie's greatest merits. Acting was well below expectations. The storyline was again badly trashed leaving the excellence of JK's wonderful mind sadly distorted. However, for those who cannot read or did not do so the movie should be exciting. For those who love JK and her excellent books and wonderous and exciting meandering of Harry and company, the movie is a disaterous cobble of possibly the greatest book ever written.

I've read everything and seen all movies many times. This was the only disappointment to date. It seemed disjointed and jumpy. Just when we were expecting more detail was coming, it jumps on; leaving out too much detail in some areas and including unnecessary plot lines. If movie play time dictates that only some (or the main) story line(s) can be properly told on the screen, then they should have narrowed the story focus and portrayed it more completely. I really wish we could have 'do-overs' on this one. Send them back to the editing room and patch back in what was so painfully obviously cut. I'd have rathered a 4 hour movie with an intermission than what we were served.

I am not sure precisely why, but when the movie ended I felt as though it was incomplete. I love Harry Potter Movies, but this was a bit of a disappointment. Still it will not keep me from seeing the remaining films.

The movie was okay, there were huge parts of the book missing that were suppose to set up book 7, and i was horribly disappointed in the ending...they left out some major things there. and there were items that were added to the movie that made no sense or reason. The comedy in it was really funny and it was over all entertaining but if you have not read the books your not understanding whats really going on by simply watching the movies.

It movie was cool but left a lot of stuff out. I think you will like this movie more if you not read the book. The movie has a good tempo to it. There not a lot of slow dragging parts of the movie. However it left something to be desire. Also the ending seem rush. I just hope the funeral was missed in this only because it going to be part of the Deadly Hollows movies.

Although alot of features from the story in the book were left out of the movie, it was still an interesting flick. There are several things that cannot be skipped in order to get to the telling of the next part of the story, so perhaps the next movie will have to be multi-parted to catch everyone up, or be prepared for a six hour movie.

If you are a die hard fan that gets annoyed when a HP movie diverges from the book, then you might leave this movie frustrated. There are several scenes in the movie that didn't even occur in the book, and there are many scenes in the book that are not in the movie and some where the details are changed. That being said, the movie still flows great and is very entertaining. The process of turning words into movie is not an easy one, so you have to expect some degree artistic interpretation. The movie still gets 4 stars in my eyes and I would highly recommend it.

The book is always better than the movie, but my family and I enjoyed this movie. We liked it better than the last (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix). The special effects were fun, and I especially like the Quidditch match. If you have seen all of the movies, then you won't want to miss this one. However, my advice is to re-read the book AFTER you go to the movie. You'll enjoy them both more that way!

disjointed. perhaps they should have thought about making this into two movies. too much was left out. very little of the drama from the book made it. important leads into the final book were left out. I'm now questioning where the 7th book will go when turned into a film. Most of the book story was covered but no explanation or support to other themes from the book. I'm glad I have seen it, but, will not see it again until the bluray is released. perhaps some of the supporting story would make into the extended version of the movie.

First off, I for the life of me couldn't remember the previous movie which left me a bit confused (I don't read the books).
The movie had some funn parts, which was great! I really don't remember too many funny moments in the previous Harry Potter movies. Ron Weasly definitely stood out in this film.
Overall, I felt Half Blood Prince was the least interesting and exciting of all the Harry Potter films thus far. It ended abrubtly and left you feeling like something was missing.

After months of waiting for the release of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince I am happy to report that the movie was everything that I had hoped for and more. The children are older (aren't we all) and accurately reflect all the emotions, both good and bad, that teens have and that are expressed in the last three books of the series. It's been a few years since I read this particular book and parts are familar and some parts I questioned - but the story is still wonderful and is the perfect lead in to that final book. You'll feel excitement, frustration, anger, shock and humor and sadness. It's a movie worth watching if you're a Harry fan, and a series worth getting involved in if you haven't yet done so.

For true Harry Potter book fans, this is lacking in detail, flow, timelines and key threads of the story. For those that have followed the movies only, this is full of action, entertainment, and won't bog you down with plot. It is fun and colorful, and has something for everyone but the true Harry Potter book fans. The kids loved it, even though they read the books. It's certainly entertaining and will still be added to my collection of movies later, but slightly grudgingly.

This movie had a chance to be really great, but there was a lot of stuff from the book that was left out, and there was a lot of useless information that was included in the movie that was not highlighted in the book. (For example, is it really necessary to spend 45 minutes on Ron Weasley's dopey love affair?) Also, if you are waiting for a big finish with Dumbledor's funeral - forget it. The movie is nothing like the book in that regard. I also missed the close interaction between the three major characters - Harry, Hermione and Ron.

I thought this was a good movie as HP movies go (if you never read the book) but it really lacked passion! Especially at the end. I was like, Is that it?" J.K. Rowling made us, the readers ,experience the passion of every excruciating moment that lead up to the end as Dumbledoor pleaded with Snape to honor their agreement. None of that was carried over into the movie. So if you've followed Harry on the big screen then go see this one also but if your planning to see the Deathly Hollows (which I think is awful that the money grabbers at Warner Brothers are splitting into two movies) then be sure to read the book first so hopefully at the end you won't have to say... "Is that it?"

Seeing the other Harry Potter movies after reading the books, I was not expecting the movie to match the book page for page. However the rearrangement of some key elements (what Malfoy was doing, for instance), I think resulted in a less climactic ending. I, with my slightly lowered expectations, was satisfied with the film. Others that I saw it with (having only watched the movies and not read the books) found the film boring and did not understand the significance of it to the overall storyline. I am raising my expectations for the last (two) films and hope they do the series justice.

The characters were great. The way in which they evolved and the fact that we were able to connect to the characters were great! This book was awesome and very dark and set up the finale. This movie was just the opposite. It left out a lot of the background on Tom Riddle and Dumbledore. It was too light-hearted. I haven't left a Harry Potter movie as disappointed as I was from this one. My friend (who hadn't read the book) said she enjoyed it. If you are a fan of the books you won't enjoy ths movie.

The movie was very disappointing if you want it to follow the book. There are several important characters missing, and a few key scenes omitted, whereas, confusingly, there are scenes added that hold no relevance to the plot as we know it from the book. Perhaps they are added because there is to be a different take on book seven?
However, if you judge the movie against itself, it was an enjoyable movie. The acting was far more believable, and the special effects were almost overwhelming if you were sitting at the very front in a huge theater.
Overall, I would say watch it if you like the movies, but if you love the books, you may not enjoy it. The Weasley Twins' shop was worth seeing.

I am an avid Harry Potter fan, but the pace was slow and a lot of the information in the book didn't flow, so if you haven't read the book, you were left hanging and scratching your head. Hope the last one is better.

I enjoyed the movie, there were details from the book that I thought would have gone into the movie, but overall it was very well done.
I will probably see it again to get more of the details.
