Beautifully staged, hated the plot

The staging and filming of this production were beautiful and I suspect in person the staging is breathtaking.
The music was of course fabulous. Lloyd Webber even worked in snippets of music from the Phantom.
I hated the plot, I listened to the soundtrack when it first came out and didn't buy the plot. I was hoping it would make more sense in the production, but it didn't. I'm not sure why Lloyd Webber had to make Raoul such a terrible character, it doesn't fit with the beginning or end of Phantom. I think this could have been a great show if the writers would have stayed with Christine & Raoul vs Phantom.

I enjoyed the movie, there were details from the book that I thought would have gone into the movie, but overall it was very well done.
I will probably see it again to get more of the details.
