Over all I liked the movie and was glad I saw it. I was on the edge of my seat up until the last half hour. I was expecting a more dramatic finally. I though the ending was a bit disappointing, even confusing. I felt like I was left hanging so I hope there is another one after this to clarify what happened at the end. I've never read the books but have seen all the movies. It just felt like something was missing towards the end.

Movie was close to the book in many ways but was slow to develop similar to the book. Agree with other reviewer if you hadn't read the book somethings were missing.
The missing fight scene in the castle at the end compared to the book was a disappointment. Also the developing love interests could have been clearer. We also do not know from the movie that Harry tells Jenny they can't be together because he has to finish what he has started.
Adding 10 minutes for the fight and losing some other scenes would have made this a better movie.

Although this movie is a bit different than the others, it was still good. You would have to have seen at least the last two in order to get the full benefit of the movie.
When watching this installment in the series, you would have to keep in mind these are no longer the little kids of earlier releases, they are older and the story would need to reflect that, and I think it does.

Two days ago I went with my family to go and watch the sixth installment of the Harry Potter movies. Now that I have watched the movie I do believe that in the beginning of the movie that the movie did jump around a bit and left me slightly confused as to what is going on.Though once the movie went along I could keep up with what was going on. I think that the scene where everyone is at the Burrow for Christmas was not needed seeing as the Burrow was never set on fire in the book . the movie was slow but it did show the main parts of the movie and left out a lot of detail that would be needed for the next movie. It is a good movie if you have read the books but is an Excellent movie if you have not.

I enjoyed this movie, but I have to say I am disappointed with some of the filming decisions. While I appreciated the effort to include the primary, dark story as well as the light/teen love part, I feel this movie lacked the flow evident in the 5th movie, also directed by Yates. In addition, where was the climax? The end of the book is a glorious fight of good vs. evil, Harry being unable to help Dumbledore as he faces his end, and saying goodbye to a beloved character. With an ending like that, there is no need to change it for cinematic purposes. It is perfect . . . don't mess with perfection! On the other hand, thank you to the actors in this film (and previous) for bringing the Harry Potter stories alive!

Compared to the past 5 movies, this was definately my LEAST favorite. But it did stick closely to the book. There was very little aaction in the movie, but there was also very little action in the book, so that is understandable. Overall I did not like this HP very much.

I really enjoyed the movie. I have read all the books and although this movie was very good it did not cover everything. It would have been nice to have an intermission at some point. I understand the limits of book to movie translations; I don't understand why this movie seems like it doesn't aspire to be more than a place holder in the series. The movie summarizes the plot, but seems to focus on the development of the characters into almost adults. That part was WELL DONE, but it cost the other plot points and movement. Finally, the Slughorn character was too fearful, less ambitious, and more a fool than the book presented. A movie for those who already know the book. So I heartily recommend reading over passive watching, and seeing this movie as an EXTENSION of the book experience. (FYI saw with 18 children and they had much the same thoughts)

One of the dangers inherent in making a film about a popular book is that some good things must remain on the cutting room floor. Such is the case of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." I found myself, while watching the film, noticing all of the stuff that wasn't in it. This, of course, is a disservice to both myself and the filmmakers, who crafted a wholly enjoyable, and fun movie. If you haven't read the book, you will really love this movie. If you have read the book, you will wish you hadn't. Overall though, this is still a very good popcorn movie, well worth the price of admission.

The movies of the Potter series are universally excellent, and this is no exception. It is an outstanding series. This episode was by necessity a transitional bridge, with the significant developments that happened. This movie suffered only from being the calm before the penultimate and climatic elements of the series.

The movie was great! However, there would be a few scenes I wish they didn't add. People who had never read the books were able to guess Snape's true allegiance in the movie where as in the book readers were left in suspense completely not knowing or at least very unsure. Although I did enjoy some of the additional content that was not in the book, and felt it was at home in the film, and not awkward or unnecessary. All in all, I would definitely recommend this to book readers and non-book readers alike.

This movie was the first Harry Potter film to show characters in a more three dimensional light. All the main characters are portrayed with sense that they might not be sure of themselves whether it be in the good v evil story line or the love plot lines. I could have done without the diner scene in the underground - it wasn't in the books and made Harry look a bit like a womanizer...I would've preferred to see Dumbledore at Privet Drive as the books showed. Missed the battle at Hogwarts and Dumbledore's funeral too but otherwise I was satisfied. Broadbent was brilliant as Slughorn and the actress who played Lavender Brown was perfectly annoying.

Although I did enjoy the movie, I was greatly disappointed. I know that this was a long story with much detail, so there wasn't a great way to condense the book's material down to a reasonably timed movie. I think, however, that they should have considered making this book into two movies. By trying to briefly touch base on so many key points, I feel that they ultimately ended up with a choppy movie that did little to convey the emotions, acting or story that it should have been capable of. I would tell a friend to see the movie if they were a fan, but to not expect too much. Hopefully the double installments of The Deathly Hallows will allow for a more complete story.

Very good movie. Most of the plot in the book was covered. However, the book revealed much more behind the scenes information. Anyone who has not read the book cannot possibly give a good review to the movie. This was a good effort but agree that breaking it into two movies or a longer movie with intermission might have been better. The teenage Hogwart's students were very entertaining.

The movie was awesome dont get me wrong, but I can't say I loved it...Compared to the past 5 movies this one was terrible..I think it needed more action. I even fell asleep. But if you like to laugh, you might wantto give this movie a shot

No mention of Dobby or creature or any house elf. Fenrir greyback is seen briefly but his character is not even explained and he does very little. Just as with all the other Harry Potter movies, it can not compete with the book. However, I understand this, I expected this, so I was not disapointed by that unchangable fact. The book series will always be superior to the movies but the movie is a great one! Fantastic actors and special effects. We get to see once again the characters and the stories we love, even if it is meerly a glimpse of the book, it is an escape into the world of Harry Potter.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The movie was very good. Stuck to the book as much as possible. Did leave out a few key elements in the book and added one that I wasn't happy with, but still turned out good. Overall, ~very~ good movie!! Excellent special effects!!

I fell asleep just a few minutes into the movie and woke up about 30 minutes later. Afterwards, the romantic overtures were just too much along with the hint of taking performance enhancing drugs.
The ending was quite somber as well.
