I thought this was a really good movie although not as good as the last couple Harry Potter's. I didn't think it had quite as much suspense and thrills as usual. I still enjoyed it immensely and left me wanting for the next movie which I felt this one did a good job of setting the stage for the final two movies yet to come.

Best HP film yet. The intrigue and suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. I also was impressed with the "grown up" characters both in maturity and in magic. I'm gonna see it again because there was so much going on, I am sure I missed stuff.

While this movie did lack a lot from the book, it was still my favorite of the MOVIE series. If I had not read the book I would have been very pleased with this presentation. But for me, even having read the book, the movie was very well made and captured my attention and emotions. I give this one an excellent rating.

I appreciate the well-crafted, tightly-woven story that JKR gave us and knew that I'd be upset at every change from the book. Did the screenwriter think he could craft a better story than Jo did? The first time I saw HBP, I ranted for three days. Then I saw it again. I loved it. Teenage Voldemort is truly creepy. Dumbledore is protective of Harry yet determined to get done what needs doing. Snape is as unclear as ever - is he good or bad? Harry grows up. Ron and Hermione finally get together. McGonnagal visibly ages after Dumbledore dies. Harry and Ron's nighttime discussion about the merits of Ginny and Hermione was both funny and sweet. The "mood" of the story was spot on. As a film, it worked. See it!

I loved the set and scenery but the story did not flow as much as it could. Jumped from highlight to another and did not fill in the between parts. Enjoyed the Weasley shop tremendously and it was fun to see the relationships unfold but was disappointed with not giving enough information to follow for the continuing story. Great CGI and special effects but lacked in other ways.

The camera work, lighting, and set designs in Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince will win every movie award given this year. They are superb! I liked the moody overtones in the lighting -- sepia for Harry, blue for "evil", swirling ink blobs. However, somebody please get these teenager actors to speak DISTINCTLY! They mumble, barely moving their lips. The sound in the movie was abysmal.
Rupert is a stone face, but we love him anyway. "Lavender" stole every scene.
Writing the screenplay for such a huge, complex book had to be a challenge. I've already seen it 3 times, and will get the video asap. Just get those actors some ELOCUTION lessons, please!

In some ways the movie was better then the book. The problem is this part of the saga prepares for the end of the story and a number of sad things happen. I would not take children under 8 to the move unless they are a fans. This movie should not be a first Harry Potter movie. Saying that I loved the move and was surprised how well the story was told.
One light note Evanna Lynch plays a wonderful ditsy girl named Luna Lovegood and almost steals the picture.

This movie exceeded my expectations in every way. It was superior to all the previous movies, especially the last one, which was the worst ever! This movie was absolutely fabulous compared with the dull "The Order of the Phoenix."
The special effects were really good. I really liked the scenes with Harry and Dumbledore in search of the Horcrux.
The best characteristic of The Half Blood Prince was the amount of suspense. I was squeezing my friend's hand through most of it.

It's a great movie. Though they could have improved some of the scenes. It wasn't as close to the book in some parts as the others were. Overall however it was a great movie. It was very well done and I love how they are making a point to use the same characters continuously throughout the movie series with the exception of Dumbledore but that one is not an issue. They found a great actor to replace the original after his death. I'm sure he would be pleased with the outcome of his role.

I left the theatre disappointed. How do you take the battle out at the end? Dumbledore falling? No funeral for Dumbledore? The scene being changed so that Harry is beneath the platform as opposed to underneath the cloak with Snape actually seeing/speaking to him before killing Dumbledore (didn't happen in the book).Why? Inserting the scene at the burrow? No Bill being attacked by Fenrir Greyback (who wasn't even set up as a character). Reviewers keep talking about Ginny and Harry having a romance but they took out the single most important part of this: their heart felt conversation at the end of the book. If you've read the books, will you be disaapointed? How can you not be, based on the above issues???

I kinda missed ol' snake nose in this movie. But the film was very good just the same. The special effects are outstanding as usual and for this reason I'd recommend a theater viewing as opposed to DVD. There is an obvious rapport between the actors. They all seem to have grown into their respective characters well and the script does not seemed forced at all. Let's hope they can make the finale before the actors get sick of it.

The movie itself was decently made. The actors are improving with each movie. However, the integrity of the book was not met. The director took too much freedom with adding in extra material and leaving out material. Also, on some minimal things the director strayed away from how the book depicts the action when not needed. I didn't read the books, so my opinion is based solely on the movie itself. This movie was darker themed all around and a little slow in the beginning, but great as usual. It felt more as if it was a connector piece to the next film, not to stand on it's own. I missed the whimsical things, such as the moving staircases and talking pictures on the walls.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

well as being an avid harry potter fan and reading the entire series i have found that, just as number 5's movie, number 6 was seriously lacking in detail and accuracy. i think that for anybody who actually likes harry potter, they would sit in a theater for a good 3 hours+ to watch a very good film about harry potter.. i just think david yates needs to seriously consider not directing both parts of movie 7..

I would say that this is the best HP movie so far. I'm rather shocked it got a PG rating as there is as much if not more adult-content in this film as the others. As someone who hasn't read any of the books, and prefers to take the movies as a completely separate entity, I was very pleased with the story. The camera work and special effects were very well done, and I enjoyed the story as well. Also, you have to respect when a "children's movie" doesn't give you the usual happy ending.

As someone who has not read the books, I just like to see the movies in action. I was so happy with the previous movies and overjoyed to see this one. Me and my cousin are huge Potter fans and we were both falling asleep during this one. I dont know what happened to the gripping story but it must have died with Sirius Black.
