My family and I thought the movie was outstanding. My daughters have read all of the books. We saw it at the oldest theatre on our town that has new technology and it was great. At the end everyone was applauding the movie. We plan on seeing it again. We can'y wait for next movie to come along. It should be great.

This is one of the few later movies (after 1 and 2), that actually stayed to the book pretty well. I think it left out some key items (the beginning scene was not in the book and not necessary), but I think the assumption is that most people have read the books before seeing the movies.

This was another good installment of the series, however, as with Order of the Phoenix, they left out pivotal plot points which may leave some fans wondering what happened. The entire part with Fluer and Bill was missing and they play a huge part in the last book, and I would assume film, if they are going to be true. However, again this was a visually stimulating film and worth the money.

It's not that the movie wasn't good, it's that it was so darn UNEVEN. The mood and pacing established in the first 3/4 (focussing on a mystery & teenaged romantic angst) is utterly different then that used in the last 1/4 (high magic & action), and the transition was jarring.
Further, I'm not sure how much someone who had not read the book would have gotten from the film. Many things were skipped or glossed over (for time) and readers would have no trouble following, but non-readers would be left guessing, "What was that? How did Harry know that? What happened to Jinny's boyfriend between scenes?" etc.

Go see this movie just for the visual effects and entertaining story line turned into semicomedy. If you're a true HP fan then you'll be disapointed. They omitted 2/3 of the book's story lines and only kept bare minimum, and added parts that were not in the book which don't really help the movie. From a fan point it's shallow and missed some of the best parts, but from overall movie it's entertaining.

This is a wonderful film that not only continues JK’s story but reflects the times I remember being a teenager and becoming more and more involved with girls. It is not like other Potter films it does not have a happy ending. Reminds me very much of another film years back called “The Empire Strikes Back”. Characters develop and the story moves forward and you are left wanting more. A perfect film to ready us for the final two films. A big well done! to the young actors and film makers!

I thought it was a great movie. In my opinion it did not compare to the book. But I do not think that it is possible to compare the two. And for those who are avid readers of the Harry Potter Books...you will be disappointed in the end of the movie. But I hear they are moving that scene into the next movie. So enjoy. I thought this one may take over as my favorite- Escape from Azcaban, but it didn't quite make it. I certainly enjoyed it tremendously though. I thought it was going to be "darker" than it actually was (although it was intense) but it had quite a few humorous scenes involving the gang an their romantic endeavors. The end fell a little flat for me because they did not have a big fight scene like the book, but I can understand due to the PG rating.

Overall, I really liked the movie, but I thought that the ending was not nearly as dramatic as in the book. It just kinda...happened... and their wasn't a lot of dramatic tension and build up and suspense for a pretty important moment in the series.

As usual, this sequel is in keeping with the story and the sets and general feel have actually improved. The more serious tone made it more believable and less childish. The sets were so well done and artistic and believable albeit slow at times. How could anyone not appreciate the clever and imaginative story line. The whole series is a classic and full of all the character qualities we as humans must dodge or aspire to -- good vs. evil and all that. If one looks closely it could all be a metaphor for the way depression feels. Very clever indeed.

I felt Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was really well done. I loved how every character's story over lapped and blended together. The books have so much information and richness to them and I felt director David Yates did an excellent job at trying to meld it all together into something discernable and enjoyable. The only thing I thought to be lacking was I wanted to see even more of Draco's internal struggle. I got he was struggling but missed why. He's set up as such a nasty person in the other movies and in this one, he seemed to have grown a heart but I never saw when that moment actually took place. Other than that, the movie had such a wonderful flow I just sat back and enjoyed the ride. I want to see it again!

Great movie! There were some very funny scenes and you really get more into the characters, but I was disappointed they left out the best fight scene in the book! They didn't include Dumbledore's Army in the fight after the Deatheaters were able to get in Hogwarts....that's a bummer! Overall, though, good movie!!

What a movie! As a fan of the books, I'm always a little concerned that my favorite parts of the book won't make it onscreen. There is so much in each book that you'd need a miniseries to really cover each and every plot twist. But Steve Kloves has done an excellent job of getting all the most important stuff in, and even adding a scary scene or two that weren't in the book. I knew what was going to happen and this movie still made me jump. The depiction of Draco Malfoy in this movie is heartbreakingly good, and if Alan Rickman doesn't get an Oscar nom for this film or the next one there is no justice.

As a Harry Potter fan who has read all the books several times this movie was the worst of the 6 so far. Huge parts of the book were left out and the ending was awful. The 7th and final book named Deathly Hollows will not be the same for viewers as a hollow that is seen in the ending of the 6th book was left out of the movie. A big battle sceen was also left out where a huge character in the book is stunned and left for dead on the school grounds. It made the ending even more tragic in the book. I was very disappointed and won't buy this movie in DVD like I have the others when I can read the book and get so much more out of it than this movie.

In an effort to not spoil it, I'll say this.. If you've read the book, you'll be gravely disappointed. If you haven't read the books, you might actually enjoy this. As for me, I've read the whole series a few times already, so I'm really upset with the direction this movie took. To be the 6th movie in a series, Harry Potter still delivers quality entertainment. The movie was on the same level as the 5th movie in all aspects, except for humor. In the Half Blood Prince there seemed to be more romantic funny moments which helped ease the tension from the impending doom the dark lord seems to cast over all Hogwarts. This is not a happy, "good guys win" movie. Quite the oppisite in fact. In the end it's worth paying money to get the full experience, and proves to be another wonderful installment to the Potter series.

Have to confess that I was a bit disappointed with HPATHBP. It was not the strongest of the series, by far and frankly a bit disjointed. It's almost as if they were saying to themselves "OK, lets just get this one done so we can move on to the last ones"..hence my comment that it's a spaceholder. Don't get me wrong - it's an adequate movie and entertaining while it lasts...but just not up to snuff with some of the others.

A fantastic rendition of the book. Predominately accurate to Rowling's Tale. A lot of fun, but dark.

This was a movie to answer questions and ask more questions. Thought it was slow and definately not the action as in past movies. It will set up for the last book though.
