Unimpressed. As far as teenage angst goes, the story line followed the movie quite well. However, the sixth movie leads up to a climactic ending in Dealthy hallows in which good and evil dance their final number in the wizarding world. The sixth movie needed to focus on the death eaters, the infiltration of Hogwarts, and the death of Dumbledore. In all aspects, it failed. Voldemorts growing forces were represented by a small handful of familiar faces, the first battle of hogwarts was turned into a stroll through a school and a hut set on fire, and the the death of Dumbledore at Snape's hand was an insult to the book, and ruined the illusion that snape was on the side of Voldemort.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is one of the lighter movies that the novel possess. In several magazine articles and intervews several of the cast pointed this out ahead of time, the movie was made simply to build up to the 7th, it wasn't any major puzzle solver except you found out that things in the two-worlds are going down hill.
With the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 set to release in 2010, many of the early viewers of Half Blood Prince wont have to wait long before the true action begins and the series draws to an unwelcomed close.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie! I took my son to the midnight premiere & was not disappointed! Although it may not have had the big battle scenes that we are accustomed to, it didn't seem to matter. There was enough substance that I didn't miss it! I highly recommend it!

I was a little dissappointed with this film. I really think they could have done so much more with it. So much was left out. I was surprised that the fight scenes and the white tomb which was a big part of the ending were left out. Had I never read the books it would have been great, because of not knowing what you are missing. Think I will wait to see it again when it comes out on DVD.

This movie was good until the end. The ending left the audience hanging. Nothing was tied up or concluded. I was very disappointed with the movie's ending. There was no closure or a lead to what might happen in the future, except that Harry Potter would not be returning to Hogwarts.

the movie was great! well worth the hour drive to the theater and home again! they covered the main parts of the book but just made them simple and to the point. i know people who read the books might be disapointed but come on people what did u expect a 5 hour movie. out of all the movies i think they left out the least in this one. plus i look at the movies like a supplement to the books, i know what happened in the book so when they leave it out of the movie i know it still happened. it's kinda like being the ultimate spoiler cuz you know so much more than someone who hasn't read the books. for example it was fun explaning things to my dad last night on the drive home (someone who's never read the books). overall AWESOME job!

I totally enjoyed this movie, although, once again, it only brushed the surface of the content of the books. The climactic scenes were nearly as intense as in the book, and the action and character motivations are actually clearer.

Of course, read or re-read the book. No movie adaptation could ever do the book justice. However, this was good. It was funny and sweet and made you jump in all the right places. As always, the visual effects and score/soundtrack were mesmerizing and while the actors may not have been superb in all cases, their funny, quirky nuances gave those of us who have read the books a true feeling of knowing that the person on the screen was the character we love so much - even if some critical character elements or plots lines were overlooked. After all, something has to be left behind to give us bookreaders pure enjoyment. We will forever know those characters and that story better than anyone that just watches the movies.

I thought this movie was great! I laughed so much at the interactions between characters. They have really grown up...lots of subtle smirks and jokes...very fun to watch! While the fight scene wasn't AS amazing as it was in the book....I just create a separation in my mind between film versions and the amazing world JK Rowling has helped us all create in our minds. There can be no real comparison. Take them each for what they are and enjoy a FUN movie!

After reading the book, and knew what was going to happen I still thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The movie was well written and the opening shots of the movie made you feel like you were inside the movie itself. It was funny in a lot of places which has never been a huge part of the movies before and it was a welcome change. If you are a harry potter fan you will love this movie, if you don't like harry potter, nothing anyone says will make you watch it, it will just leave more seats for us fans.

The movie was a little choppy and didn't really follow the book. I would say about 1/4 of information was cut and they changed up how some of the scenes were. So some stuff was different in the movie than how the book went, completely different. If you like movies to depict the book, you will be disappointed, but if you haven't read the book, you might enjoy the movie more than others.

Warner Brothers yet again pulls off the seemingly impossible task of f$&$ing up the great and complicated story that is Harry Potter. Most of the scenes were entirely made up by the movie production team. The scenes that actually portrayed what happened in the book were disjointed, nonsensical, and had lots of information left out. I saw Harry Potter with my 13-yr old daughter just after midnight. Ten screens were showing the movie and we had to walk in and out of each one to see my daughter’s friends. We ended up sitting near the front of the cinema in the largest screen. The music and the atmosphere grabbed us from the opening titles to the closing credits. The humor brought laughter from the entire audience, and cry's and screams all happened together as the audience immersed itself in the story. Faithful to the spirit of the story it took us through another part of the journey of growing up also being experienced by my daughter, and my son. The special effects, cinematography and acting were great, balanced, strong and powerful making it a film to see.

I thought it was a really good movie, but I was expecting MUCH more! I was expecting this movie to be a little more like the 5th one with less comedy and a with a more dark tone. We were laughing more than we were sitting on the edge of our seats. They are saying that this is supposed to be the best one yet, and that the 7th is supposed to be even better.. well I hope the 7th and 8th movies are much better than the 6th.

This was truly a great Harry Potter movie. It had it all ... and, for an HP movie, it was especially full of comic moments. The only hard part I had with the movie is that, as readers of the series know, there is a devastating ending and the movie provided a very brief moment to cover it. It sent emotions soaring ... audible sniffles inside the packed theater at the 12:01 AM advanced showing ... and then before you can fully dab all of your tears away, you're leaving the theater. It would have been a perfect movie if they had provided just a bit more emotional recovery time at the end. But overall, I'd say BRAVO to the cast and crew for a job well done!

This movie was well directed and gives a different persepctive than the prior films. This movie was more about the story than the action, which will be overkill in the next film. It mainly focused on Draco's task which heavily affected his charter and the love that ran rampiant during the 6th year. There was definitly less special effects in this film then in the past fims however, this made the film feel more tangiable and Harry and the gang more human. I loved the film and plan on seeing it again after being at the 12:01 am showing.

I think that this movie was very accurate with the book's information, and it was very good for a movie that had to be crammed with information from a 600(+) page book. I think that it could have been better, yes, but it could DEFINATELY been a lot worse. I really enjoyed this movie, it makes me excited for the seventh movie. It wasn't what I expected, I felt like they left out alot of stuff. The 6th book was mainly exposition and that was the point, that you get to find out stuff and piece everything together, but the movie didn't work like that. It also didn't really go into the Harry-Ginny situation which in the book he ends it with her and in the movie they leave everything undone. There's no illusion to what's going to happen in the next movie like they do in the book.

I read the book so I was disappointed in the movie. The special effects were not that great either. The Half Blood Prince was no where near as good as any of the other Harry Potter movies.

I saw the Half-Blood Prince last night and had some high expectations because it is my favorite book. David Yates, the director, unfortunately had to leave some of my favorite parts out, but still made an amazing movie. The acting was top notch, special fx outstanding, and overall a great interpretation. Everyone should see this movie!

Before you start thinking I am negative hear me out. All of the Harry Potter movies have been entertaining and with the huge battle between tom and albus in the last movie I was expecting something more. This movie left out the deeper connection most Harry Potter movies have the one where you grow with the characters. Their was barely any magic and it seems to be cheaply made. I was very upset they even released this one as the movie and not the bloopers. It did not ever wake you up, you wait the whole movie for an exciting fight but it seemed as if nothing happened the entire movie.

If I hadn't read the book, the movie would have been much better. As it is, there was much that was left out that I considered to be crucial to the story. It will be interesting to see how the next one fill the holes left from this one.
Ignoring what I know from the book, taken by itself the movie was good, but perhaps not quite emotional enough. It was difficult to really connect with the characters, much more so than the previous movies of this series.

Movie should have included more of the story line and not so much of ron and lavender they completely left out the death eater attack at the school and added in the attack at rons house which from my memory wasnt in the book
