The dark knight was not even that close to being dark at all, The JOKER made this movie just like the first one with Nicholson, but not at the same caliber. Heath was amazing, psychotic, scary and intimidating joker, Batman had to stay in the foreground on this one. Heath should win an oscar for his performance in this movie and hopefully his little girl will accept the best actor award. Oh yah the director was also paying attention to detail so far the best batman ever.

I spent 3 hours in a theater with 1000+ people last night with no air conditioning- and I would do it all over again to watch The Dark Knight. Yes, the Joker was played to an almost perfection by Heath Ledger, but I say give the rest of the cast some credit. Without Bale's immaculately delivered Batman/Bruce, or Gary Oldham as an all-too-convicing Gordon, even Aaron Eckhart's Harvey Dent- all help frame Ledger's acting skills, or perhaps even make him shine so brilliantly. I am a fan of Michael Keaton's Batman, but Bale takes the character to a completely different level and if Ledger deserves an Oscar, Bale should be mentioned as well. As a female, I loved all the violence, adrenaline, explosions, Joker's sadistic intentions just as much as my male counterparts! Definitely go see this movie, and do it soon before those annoying people start giving away plotlines!

Truly a good action movie. Non stop thrills. All actors did a great job (exceptions new commissoner & lady detective) The joker was fabulous. Sad that he will not enjoy here the fruits of that labor.

Great sequel... in the genre of action sequels this one measures up, BIG TIME. Heath Ledger was excellent in a transformational role. Christian Bale was better than BATMAN BEGINS, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine played excellent roles and the entire cast was fantastic... what an ensemble. As for the story line it had more twists than a back road up the Sierras. Overall, I would see this over and over again...

The great highlight of this movie no doubt was that in the end the bad guy wins, and so does the audience. True to the Batman mythos supposed victory over the enemy comes from great loss. Although Ledger plays a hypnotic version of Joker, Nolan has written the best screen version thus far. Beginning to end the "agent of chaos" runs every character. If multiple villians in one movie has raised red flags for you in the past, this film will pleasantly suprize you in the end.

The Dark Knight had alot of hype leading up to it's release. Several of my friends saw it opening night and told me that it was at least 3 times as good as the last Batman movie. I would have to say that both are relatively equal in terms of excitability and action. The Dark Knight took another step towards "the dark side" with Heath Ledger's knife killings and creepy voice and demeanor. I would have liked to see a new vehicle as well some cooler gadgetry. Overall I enjoyed it, but sorely missed Katie Holmes as "Rachel".

The movie was good. I went in without expecting a lot and this film didn't disappoint. If you've seen the first film, you'll get more of it here. They were similar films in tone-- both very serious and dark. This movie was good, but I'm not sure if I liked it. It was good in that the performances were great and the script was thought provoking. Obviously a great deal of effort was made to make this film more than just another comic-book action film and it showed. Still, did I like it? I'm not sure. Perhaps this film took itself too seriously for a movie about a guy in a costume running around trying to save a city. Or perhaps the superhero was just a guy without any real superpowers. Whatever the reason, one thing's for sure, I did think about the film long after it had ended.

Fine cast. Remarkable performance by Heath Ledger. Shades of Jack Nicholson in The Shining. Weaker performances by Maggie Gyllenhaal and Eric Roberts. Christian Bale's Batman voice contrived and forced. Director Chris Nolan emphasized action over the social satire of the Batman/Gotham storyline - another weak point for me. However, the action and special effects are terrific and the tension is non-stop. Overall very entertaining although the unrelentingly dark tone and intense action may be too much for some viewers.

Excellent film - slightly long; if they had left in 30 more minutes of things they edited out they could have easily had 2 movies out of it. An incredible swan-song performance by Ledger as the Joker.

I thoroughly enjoyed Batman Begins and this was even better. Having been a fan of the comic, it's great pleasure to finally see a movie that does "The Dark Knight" justice. Much better than the abortion Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher created during the late 80's and early 90's.
I can't wait until it comes out on Blu-ray!

This movie is definitely a must go see. The story line of the movie is great and will keep the audience interested. Maggie Gyllenhal did a much better job. It is a little long but definitely a must see. Heath Ledger's presence on film is amazing and just makes the movie THAT much better! I would 100% recommend this movie to movie watchers.

This movie does not "ramp up"....it starts "up" right from the beginning. Very dark and cerebral story line and of course Heath Ledger gives an amazing performance. Now that I've seen it, I want to see it on an IMAX screen. The only downside for me was it seemed just a bit too long. Other than that, very nice job by everybody from the actors to directors to the effects people.

This is not your typical super hero movie. This is the one that does not end happy and is better for it. All I can say is the writing is great and the acting is wonderful. Thank goodness Katie Holmes was not in it. Anyway I do recommend this for anyone. It is by the far the best movie I have seen in the last few summers, but it is not one of the top five of all time.

Great movie .Awsome plot. The joker was of the hook. The mob bosses needed a little work. They were not as menicing as expected. Batman's speacial effects were great. I would have liked to have seen the bat alittle more. His motor cycle was awsome. They should have shown some of the bike in slow motion, it was traveling so fast you could notsee some of the fine details.

There was a lot of useless exposition and information being given through the dialogue, and not enough action being done by the characters. I fell asleep toward the end and woke up only once people started leaving at the end. Batman's character is not well developed in this film. Suddenly he becomes a martyr at the end, preferring to be seen as a bad guy so that what's-his-name with half a face can be the city's hero.
Heath Ledger brought a lot to his role, and it was a bit easier to feel empathy for his character (having been abused as a child) than for Batman (who now has the superhuman ability to materialize out of thin air).
Too long and not enough going on.

Hard to top Batman Begins, but Dark Night manages to do it. Non stop action with compelling, well thought out story. True to the name, a dark story with the same kind of 2nd in series tone as Empire Strikes Back. The intensity of Heath Ledger's Joker was almost too much to take at times, but kept you wanting more. I only wonder if there will be plans to show the charachter in future releases. If so, who would they cast? Movie deserves all the praise its getting.
