Too much talking, not enough doing

There was a lot of useless exposition and information being given through the dialogue, and not enough action being done by the characters. I fell asleep toward the end and woke up only once people started leaving at the end. Batman's character is not well developed in this film. Suddenly he becomes a martyr at the end, preferring to be seen as a bad guy so that what's-his-name with half a face can be the city's hero.
Heath Ledger brought a lot to his role, and it was a bit easier to feel empathy for his character (having been abused as a child) than for Batman (who now has the superhuman ability to materialize out of thin air).
