What an awesome movie, absolutely living up to its hype. Heath Ledger didn't just play the part of the Joker...he nailed it! No one could have done that any better. He was amazing! And Christian Bale certainly does Bruce Wayne justice as the billionaire torn between his identities. Heath Ledger should definitely win a posthumous Best Actor award for his dark and totally believable portrayal of the sociopath we love to hate. WHAT A GREAT MOVIE!! Worth seeing more than once...

Easily best movie of 2008, and possibly best comic book movie ever. This is not childs play and stays more closely to the darker more intriguing versions of the caped crusader.
the action scenes are amazing, the plot is stellar and the acting is top notch. Bale and company stay honest to their characters, but The late Heath Ledger creates both a comic and criminal icon for the ages. His performance alone is worth the ticket however, it's not the only reason this movie soars above the rest.
definite must see.
RIP. Heath Ledger. The most fearless actor of our generation. gone too soon.

The Dark Knight's world of dread immerses you into a battle between good versus evil, and how the greatest of men can easily be turned to deliver evil. The first Batman only gave us a small taste of seriousness but this one seems to drive right at the heart of the point. Heath Ledger is stunning and masterful, while Christian Bale delivers a consistent performance. There are no real holes to this story, and the movie always clues you into the impending terror that is about to unravel whenever Joker and Batman are in the same area... it's just masterful. I recommend this movie to anyone looking for any film viewing pleasure. There should be awards given to this movie.

Maybe it was all the hype, but I was disapointed. The movie seemed to rely too heavily on all the special effects in an effort to distract from a weak story line. I also found it a bit fragmented, with scenes that seemed to have no purpose. The performances were mostly above average, but I wonder if a living Heath Ledger would be receiving the same recognition as he is posthumously. Christain Bale over-acted and I felt he lost some of the character that he played so well in the previous film.

This movie, like I have told people before it came out, will be one of the best movies of all time. Not just the best Batman movie, the BEST movie of all time. Not saying this b/c Mr. Ledger is no longer with us, but if he does not win an Oscar for this movie, something is up. He gave one of the best performances I have ever seen on film. Great movie a must see and a must buy. Dont bootleg this one guys, go out and spend the money. It's well worth it.

Took my daughter and nephew to see this and we all loved it. The two of them were still talking about it this morning at breakfast. Heath Ledger was very disturbing as the Joker. What an actor, what a loss. Christian Bale impressed me as the Batman, never really gave much thought to him as an actor. Can't wait to see him in something else. I love Aaron Eckhart in No Reservations his acting as DA Harvey Dent is wonderful. This is the best Batman movie to date. All actors portrayed their characters with great intensity the directors and producers should be very proud of the work put into this movie. This is the must see movie of the summer!

Dark Knight was full of action and kept you on your toes every second. The replaced Katie Homes with Maggie Gellanhall to play Rachel and she plays the role very well. Heath Ledger plays the Joker very well he is an amazing actor and i dont think they could have picked a better actor to play the role. For all of you that know and love batman you will be pleased with what i think is the best batman movie yet.

I thought i was going to like this movie , the realty was i walked out in love with the dark Knight - i wanted to see the next movie . i thought it was dark enough - BATMAN is a dark man and no one has been able to see that untill now the joker was and will forever be heith ledger please place him his oscar next to him - as he showed us in brokeback that was just awsome as an actor and he took you to a new level of fear but understood there is really no reason for a killer or the bad guys its just simple for him just beacause he completes batman there has too be a level , a balance if there's such a hero then give him such a villan in this movie they give him his perfect match .

Maybe it was the hype, but right after I saw it I actually felt like I liked the first one better. Dark Knight takes a little while to hit its stride after the opening sequence. But it does maintain a very quick pace, even for a 2 and a half hour movie. I thought the ebb and flow of the first movie was better. It had more fluidity. This one was very pulsating throughout, which is good for an action flick. But after sleeping on it and thinking about it, I really like this movie just as much as the first.

There were lots of OH! moments. check. There were cool gadgets and vehicles. check. great dialogue between batman and the villains. check. great villanous, devious mayhem and evilness. check. beautiful women, understated, but at least it wasn't overdone, which would have been worse. the movie had a lot of good elements to make a great movie.

There are also some excellent sociological points made throughout, whether its from batman's decisions or regular people's decisions. very interesting points for discussion.

Ledger is going to be a sentimental pick for many awards.

Sit back, relax and steady your nerves for a complex, character-rich, well acted masterpiece of the most malevolent plot twists you may ever see. This flim will delve into the viewer's psyche and outright threshhold for temptation and redemption. No, it isn't simply a revenge or treasure hunt, or even a "catch me if you can" exercise that most action movies devolve into. Filled with complex characters fraught with weighing their motivations vs. their fears vs. their emotions, this film will have you cringing, cheering, laughing and somber and all of this sometimes within seconds of each other. If you're tired by the end of it, it's for a reason: you have quite possibly "seen it all".
With the most hair-raising creepiness, brilliant dialogue, triumphant action sequences and bewildering plot twists, I almost pitty the writers and producers of the next Batman movie. Topping the Joker is difficult enough, but Ledger's performance is the stuff that legends of villainy are made of. Put it this way, actors such as Christopher Lee and Vincent Price made a career of what Ledger has forever cemented in "Dark Knight" alone.

The Dark Knight is not only an exciting 2 and half hour thrill ride, but it also contains many pervasive themes that we see in our society today. Health was absolutely brilliant and deserves nothing short of a posthumous Oscar nomination. It's one of those movies that you'll need to see multiple times to get the full effect. I was amazed by the movie, incredible acting throughout, great script, mind blowing action. It is a new, realistically gritty take on the comic book genre, it really did away with much of its comic underpinnings (like the first one) except for the characters. However, I felt that it went on too long, I think they could have saved the second half for another movie. There were also some pretty convoluted moments, but hey, its a Christopher Nolan movie, at least it had a pretty much linear plot line. Oh and it should not be rated pg13, I couldn't believe little kids were watching it, Ledger's Joker was a serious psychopath, one of the freakishly scariest characters of all time I think, not to mention the graphic violence. There is definitely something wrong with the rating system, it should not just be based on cursing and sexual content.

I have been waiting to see this movie since I saw the first one in theaters. I was sad to find out that when I went to see the movie that it was sold out so I had to leave, but i learned my lesson and bought them ahead of time. I live in Chicago and I remember when they shut down some of the areas to the city for filming and it was awesome to see my city in the movie. The special effects were amazing, non-stop action and it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole movie.

this just isn't as good as a lot of people are saying. It does get much better half way through, but Batman Begins is 10 times better. Heath's version of the Joker is totally different and as a classic Batman fan, it was a change I didn't love. It was great acting, but I felt like it wasn't the "real" Joker, like Nicholson nailed. Great action, but poor character setup, even on established characters. I also missed Katie Holmes as Rachel (call me crazy). Maggie Gyllenhaal (who I like) wasn't as good. Harvey Dent character was done well.

I may be the only person that does not rate this movie 5 out of 5. Heath Ledger's performance was awesome and to me this was a Joker movie with a little of Batman. Not enough action for me, but the plot with the Joker was excellent.
I did yawn a few times - almost three hours!!! Again I was looking for more action
Also not the best movie of the year/summer for me... definitely not if you are a major action buff (a few good scenes)...sorry...

The movie in line with the predecessors far exceeded my expectations on the Batman franchise. The director took the comic book character and was able to follow the Batman Begins by implementing 'reality' to the scenes. The Dark Knight was a bit more violent in terms of the reality of it for underage movie watchers but it did please a fan of the Batman hero.

From the opening sequence the movie is high intensity. How crazy will the Joker be? That's answered in no time flat. The hype for Heath Ledger's Joker may be over the top but you get an idea where it's drawn from. He's the star of the film with, arguably, more lines than Christian Bale's Batman or Aaron Eckhardt's (brilliant) Harvey Dent. The only poorly done thing that distracted me from the story was Christian Bale's Batman whisper.
