I have always been a Batman fan. I usually don't see movies on opening weekend, but thought I'd see what the hype was about on this one. I was so glad I went. The is not only the best movie of all the Batman movies, but the best movie I have seen in a long time period. There was never a time in the movie that I was bored. Heath Ledger is brilliant. But don't overlook Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent. Amazing. I was bummed they killed him off. I would love to see him in a sequel!

My husband and I went to a sunday matinee and it was so packed they opened another screen and it sold out as well. After much anticipation, we were not dissapointed. The storyline and character development were truly impressive. Christian Bale's turn as the tomented hero complemented Heath Ledger's ingenious portrayal of the joker. I believe Michael Caine was right when he asserted Ledger might be a up for an Oscar. He was brilliant in every way. I would go see this movie again, perhaps even two more times. I never read comics and sometimes movie adaptations fall flat, but this movie lives up to the hype.

Of course it has the action and neat Batman stuff you expect, but the storyline makes it the best of the Batmans so far. Typically "sequels" get weaker and weaker until they story is milked dry, but this is the exception. The bar has been raised!

I generally stay away from movies with such hype, but my dear Sir hauled me off to the theater for this one. I have to say thank you to him! It was a wonderful movie with the perfect blend of effects and real play. The way the Joker was writtin and acted was perfect for me, creating humor at the most opportune moments. Very well done, and definitely worth the price of a theater ticket or two. :)

This is by far the best of any one of the Batman movies. I plan to see it a second time. For a movie that was almost three hours long it was fantastic. There never will be another joker who can out do keith Ledgers performance.

I have been waiting to see this movie for a while now, and thought for sure I was expecting too much. This movie delivered everything I wanted and then blew that away with what it gave me. Heath Ledger's performance is the best villian--or character--I have seen in years. He just went so far into the dark side that it was just jaw dropping. Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, Gary Oldham and Morgan Freeman were incredible and this movie was the best of the summer and the best of the year, so far.

Great movie. But I couldn't get my mind off Heath Ledger. His performance was off the charts. If he doesn't receive an Oscar I will be shocked.

During the course of the film you will find yourself eagerly waiting the next appearence of the Joker (Heath Ledger) who is finally played the way he was meant to be. Don't worry, while you wait to see the clown prince of crime you will be treated to a strong performance by Christian Bale and Gary Oldman who reprise their roles of Batman and Jim Gordon. I was also pleasantly surprised by Aaron Eckhardt who made me believe in Harvey Dent (the DA of Gotham City). I was also glad that Morgan Freeman and Sir Michael Caine reprised their roles from Batman Begins. There is so much in this film that it is definitely worth a second, third, and yes even a fourth view. I am currently on my third and and can't get enough. Please don't take your children but rather a friend who can handle some of the more disturbing elements of the film.

I loved "The Dark Knight." Heath Ledger's performance was exceptional. I think he'll win an Oscar for it. Excellent action film combined with a well written script and great acting.

Probably the best batman movie I have seen! The cast of characters was amazing, especially Heath Ledger!! This is a movie I would pay the price to see again in theaters and will proabably have to own on DVD.

I couldn't list enough superlatives if I tried. The acting, direction, story line, effects, casting - all helped create one of the great movies of our time. Like other reviewers, I thought all of the hype from people who saw the first screenings would be hard to live up to. But it wasn't!!!
My only quibble is that some of the dialogue was lost under loud sound f/x - but that was probably due to the sound system in the theater I saw it in.

The Dark Knight is not just the newest of the comic-books-turned-action-movies; Christopher Nolan's masterpiece showcases the superb acting talent of a star-studded cast while keeping the dark content of the plot horrifically realistic. I was particularly struck by the growth of depth of Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne from background character to the confident companion of his alter-ego, and Gary Oldman takes command of Jim Gordon in fully realizing his precarious position of power.

Best rendition of Batman since the first movie came to the silver screen. Heath Ledger 100% nails the role of the Joker -- talk about someone who truly understood the character's ambitions and motivation -- Ledger steals the show from Bale (who also put forth great work in the movie). Truly impressed with the flow ... 2 1/2 hours felt more like 30 minutes ... time flies when you're having fun -- I had a blast watching this movie!!

This movie tries to do way too much, and just winds up being too long. The hand to hand fighting is better than in the last movie, but the car chase sequences go on way too long and get totally confusing. The setups for the various ethical dilemmas are totally forced and completely violate my ability to suspend my disbelief.

this movie is a perfect example of why spending $9 to sit in a theater, surrounded by hundreds of strangers, in seats where god knows how many other people have sat, paying a small fortune for subpar popcorn and a watered down drink, is totally worth it. each character in this movie was well developed, well played (or were they? the actors became their characters...was it heath ledger, or was it just the joker in all his diabolical splendor?), and mesmerizing. of course, the big star of the show was truly the joker. they could have just as well called this movie "the joker". don't get me wrong, each character was germaine to the story and worth every penny to sit in and become a voyeur to, but heath ledger's acting in this movie was above and beyond anything we could have ever hoped for. every single time he came on the screen i could not take my eyes away from him, and neither did i want to. he was in that film what every actor hopes to achieve in his or her career, he was masterful! and that is why when i left the theater, i couldn''t help but mourn for him all over again. that such a talent could be gone from the big screen and this life forever is truly a tragedy made ever more painful after viewing his last and truly his greatest acting achievement ever. i have been to see this movie multiple times already. and if you haven't seen it yet, what the heck are you waiting for? get up and run, don't walk to see the best movie of this year! hurry now...move it...

This is more than just a comic book movie; it's just a damn good movie... PERIOD!!! Extremely dark, funny and, to be honest, quite moving. There is never a dull moment and the action starts right from the get go. Everything that the Joker's character says, on the surface, is cool in that rebellious, anarchic kind of way; but if you really listen and pay attention to what he's saying... you'd really think you're listening to a TRUE madman!!! If you haven't seen it then YOU are the mad(wo)man!!! You should have gone, like, yesterday!

The Joker is by-far the character that truly makes this movie great. Batman/Bruce Wayne are good like always, but this movie was truly wonderful. I recommend everyone sees it before it goes to video. You have to see it on the big screen!

A good film requires great performances done by both villains and heroes, this has both. Batman Begins started a trend that has placed a spin on the Batman series overall, however, The Dark Knight followed through with the original change and took it to the next level, pure fun and creepyness; justice prevails but through mirky waters!

This movie was great. Alot of unexpected scenes. Suprising ending. I would end up seeing this again before it comes out on video, then I would probably buy the movie. I was not one who kept up with all of the previous Batman movies (only kept up with the classics), but this one definitely exceeded my expectations!

I typically do not enjoy action/comic book movies; however, I did enjoy The Dark Knight. I thought it was clever, funny, exciting, and imaginative. I would recommend this movie to any adult/teen, but please heed the PG-13 rating. Too scary and violent for younger children.

I normally wouldn't go see a movie like this, but wanted to spend the day with some of my family. So when asked, I said "Yes". This movie was so good I didn't realize how long it was! I thought we were there about 1 1/2 hours! It was intriguing and so suspenseful. It was magnificent. It is worthy of all the awards it can receive. Don't miss this one! Even this older person appreciated it!
