When the movie began I did not hold out to much hope for this film but thankfully it had a 2 hour 30 min time frame to redeem itself and bring the film together. The characters are some of the best written I have seen in any movie ever and easily the best ever for a comic book franchise movie. the plot was good but not perfect due to the additional villain of Harvey Two Face that should have been saved for another film instead of this film Aaron Eckhart was terrific and I would have loved to see this character as a stand alone Batman Villain over an entire film. however the Joker was magnificently done by Heath Ledger and I doubt will ever be done better by any other actor. this film is easily the best of any comic book film ever made. a little to over hyped but still a very good effort.

Spoiler alert:
While all together it was a good movie, batmans severe lack of a personality drags it down severely, coupled with the factor that they killed of Two-face, a great long term villian, after MAYBE a half-hour of screentime. Hate to say it, but this movie was a major let down. I do recomend seeing it at some point for the Jokers absolutly killer performance, but it isn't worth the extra money to see it on the bigscreen. All in all, this movie doesn't even compare to ironman for superhero movie of the year, do yourself a favor and save your money for the ironman dvd when it comes out

The Dark Knight has it all. Acting, dialogue, action, and just the right amount of creepiness from the Joker to not be too campy or cheesy. Fans of Batman Begins will be pleased with the direction Christopher Nolan has taken with this new Batman movie, and trust me, the movie does not disappoint with the insane amount of marketing and expectations that had been given to it. I was even a little hesitant, thinking no movie could live up to the hype, but incredibly, The Dark Knight does. It is a superhero movie that others will be judged by for a long time to come.
Surprisingly, Gyllenhaal's Rachel Dawes isn't too bad, and Bale's Bruce Wayne is just as good as ever. Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine are still excellent, and though I doubt it needs to be said, Heath Ledger's Joker is incredible, practically stealing the entire movie.
By far, I would recommend this movie. The length is the only aspect that I found to be an issue, but in reality, you don't even notice it once the movie begins.

I've been a Batman fan for forever. I've liked all the Batman movies to a degree just because of the character. But this was the only movie in the series (besides the original and Batman Returns) that really made a stab at a script.
The action was good (as would most movies with multi-million dollar budgets should be) but it was the story that was excellent. The plot twists, the small nuances, the character growth all made this movie the very best of the Batmans and one of the best movies I've ever seen.
Heath Ledger was more twisted than Jack Nicholson (scary), Christian Bale was believable as a trouble multi-millionaire and Morgan Freeman gave the movie an added "grounding" when technology threatened to take over.
Before this movie Iron Man was the best movie out this summer (I'll admit it was tied with Sex in the City, there I said it) but neither movie was as complete as Batman.
Thank you to the producers for not cutting the movie to 90 minutes to make it fit in a neat little time slot. The movie was just as long as it needed to be and I can't wait for all the extras to come out on the DVD.
GO SEE BATMAN NOW!! You're wasting time reading anymore reviews, run to your nearest theater and tell them you want a Dark Knight.

This was a really good movie. Christian Bale is an awesome Batman! Heath Ledger is great, as well as the always amazing Gary Oldman.
It was a little long though, so if you are going, don't get a large soda, you'll never make it through the 2 1/2 hours.

A must see...lives up to the hype esp. Heath. Bale's scratchy voice when he's in his suit still kinda cracks me up but I understand he's trying to disguise it. My seat was broken and the person behind me kept kicking it so I was distracted a little and it still was sweet.

This movie truly deserves the "Blockbuster" mantle. It is character driven ,however it manages to carry along an interesting plot. Ledger is deserving of all the praise he has received. But the entire cast ensemble is not to be over looked, particularly Oldmans Gordon, subtle, clever. The glaring negative is the post production. The movie looks like a rough cut and it almost ruins it. Similar to the third Godfather. People actually stood up to leave in the middle of the movie thinking it was over. With a little smoothing it could have been two really outstanding movies. Let's not forget how well that worked for"The Lord of the Rings".
That being said, Go see this movie!!! It's fun!!! But don't bring young children. The jokers face is a nightmare!

I definately think that this movie lived up to all of the hype that it was getting. Heath Ledger played an awesome character and I don't think it would have been the same with another actor taking his place. The movie was not predictable and there were some different story lines that were going on at the same time and that made it all the more interesting. Just when you think you have everything figured out the movie throws some curveballs at you and the movie just becomes more interesting and more amazing. I would recommend this movie to anyone and everyone who is thinking about seeing it.

As my husband describes, I usually like depressing Spanish movies, so perhaps I am not the audience that Dark Knight is geared toward. But, I love going to the movies and had to see what everyone was raving about. So we went to the newest theater in town, with the huge screen and all the latest in sound systems. So much action...I could have gotten the point in 30 less minutes. I did like both Batman and the Joker, definitely well acted, but was that such a great story? I get the moral and the huge universal questions, but I didn't need to be beaten over the head with it. I guess that's why I still have a headache this morning.

The Dark Knight is an excellent second installment of this franchise. Character driven plots with superb acting highlight this piece and the re-invention of the Joker character is tremendously played by Ledger. The movie does not disappoint. I will be adding this to my collection along with the first one. It does run a little long and has, seemingly, two denouements which makes the pacing slightly off-balance, but also more grandiose in scale.

This is the best movie I have seen in years. I will be extremely disappointed in the Academy if they do not give Heath Ledger the Oscar. He literally created the best villain of all time. As for Maggie Gylenhall, great job taking over the role of Rachel! Amazing movie!

I was a steadfast believer that Michael Keaton was the best batman... Until Christian Bale dawned the dark knight title. This movie was spectacular! The best thing about it is the director does not simply rely on the fact that people will go to the theaters because its titled batman; instead he uses intricate character development (Harvey for example) to heighten the experience and he capitalize on some extremely talented actors (Heath Ledger). This movie is a must see, whether you are a batman fan or not.

Both my friend and I (very seniors!) enjoyed this great action movie. Heath Ledger was unbelievably fascinating and deserves Best Supporting Actor awards. Christian Bale was the best Batman so far and his fast punches were impressive. I would recommend the movie to 12 year+ with parental consent due to much violence and Joker's mental state.

I was a little scared to see this movie. Everyone I know who had seen it was gushing about it telling me how I really need to see it and all of the reviews on it were amazing. So, naturally I thought that there was a good chance that I would be let down. All I could think was no movie is that good. I was very surprised that it was not a let down. It was just incredible.
