This movie was everything the hype had built it up to be, and more. Bale makes an amazing Batman with the perfect mix of vulnerability and brute force. Ledger plays a sick and sadistic yet light-hearted sociopath as the most true to form Joker ever captured on screen. The story, plot, dialogue, cinematography all flow seamlessly in this 2 and a half hour epic that never slows down. I believe this is hands down the best comic book adaptation I have ever seen. Go check it out, you won't be disappointed.

All I can say is Wow...Batman Begins was the best Batman Movie of all time until I saw The Dark Knight...Christian Bale is by far and away the best actor to ever take over the cowl and will be a hard one to beat when the time comes for him to hang it up but I hope that won't be for at least a decade or so...I think Heat Ledger went out with a bang...if he doesn't get nominated for this then it just shows you what crap the Acadamy Awards is...He will be missed as he definately could have reprised the role in the future.

This movie blew me away. It is probably the first movie that surpasses it's marketing hype. Starring the late Heath Ledger as Joker, his performance makes an even more mind twisting experience. There are scenes where you want to laugh but it makes you cringe. The fact that he has past makes you more curious to who he really was and what work he has done. Truly a great actor Heath gave a flawless performance. Every part of the movie kept me asking whats next? Even though it was 2 1/2 hours long I wished there was more. Christian Bale also gave a flawless performance as a conflicted hero torn between what Gotham City wants to what it needs. The action was there and so was the suspense.
I don't want to ruin the movie so I'll just say that the Joker is a man of his words.

It is an education into how evil and how wicked the human condition can become. It is also how even when the good guys begin to prevail how easy it becomes to move to the "Dark Side." I was impressed how this production can bring out both my good and evil side in just 180 minutes.
Remember to breath when the movie is over because this movie "Dark Knight" will take your breath away!

I've been impatiently waiting for this movie for three years and I can say with confidence that it delivered more than I expected. There are about four climaxes in this film, and in between there is tons going on. Need I say Heath Ledger's performance is one for the ages? The system is flawed beyond recognition if he doesn't get a posthumous Oscar.

I'm usually very critical of movies, but this movie has few flaws if any. The action sequences will keep your eyes glued to the screen while the subtle humor will have you chuckling to yourself. Heath Ledger's performance was stand-out and really gave the movie its' character while Aaron Eckhart's was stale and unbelievable at times, but sufficient to drive the story. The plot was overall well written, but the underlying message may be to forced upon the viewer in a heavy-handed manner. All of these criticisms are minor and I believe that The Dark Knight will stand as one of the best representations of Batman as well as one of the best movies of 2008.

OMG this was so awesome. I am not one to go to a midnight movie during the week, but this was so worth it! This movie was so worth staying up to go and see at midnight. The performance by the actors were astonishing. I was in awe during the entire film. Heath Ledger gave an unbelieveable last performance, that he will be well remembered for. The action never stops throughout the film. I would go see it again in theathres, without a doubt in my mind.

i must say that this has been one of the best batman movies in the batman compilation yet. though christian bale's performance was very good, heath ledger's role as the infamous "joker" was phenomenal. i wondered to myself how can this character intrigue me, but yet bewilder and scare me at the same time..even at times when his character made sudden movements/gestures i was startled. All must see this movie before the end of the summer. though the movie does have a dark undertone indeed, the cast truly do not dissapoint.

This movie was hugely successful, because it surpassed being good in its genre. I went in expecting a fun "comic book" story with some action, but got a really good, wildly thrilling movie in any category. Ledger WILL most likely get the Oscar. I was riveted to my seat, and with 30 minutes or less to go, I had NO idea how it was going to work out...I kept thinking to myself when I wasn't tensing every muscle in my body...this is really clever! It was much darker than I expected...not a little kid's film...this gets under your skin. I left the theatre at 2:45 am and was WIDE AWAKE!!! Yeah man!!!

Lived up to my expectations. 15 minutes could have been trimmed to make it a little tighter but other than that I really do not see any major faults. Every time The Joker was on screen you felt this buzz in the audience as if we all were seeing one of the best performances in a superhero film ever. Some could make the argument one of the best performances in film, period. I could honestly say that in my opinion The Dark Knight is the best superhero/comic book adaptation ever shot on film. There will be a lot of people arguing about which was the better superhero movie this year, Iron Man of The Dark Knight. You can not compare the two because they are two completely different superhero movies. Iron Man is more comic book than realistic where The Dark Knight is definitely a more realistic comic movie. Let's just say they are both equally good but The Dark Knight has the edge. As much as the fanboy in me would love a sequel but why mess with greatness. It would be extremely hard to top this film unless The Joker made another appearance but unfortunately if he does make it into a sequel it will not be played by the best Joker to date, Heath Ledger. And I don't believe he should be replaced.

Every aspect of the movie was phenomenal. The actors chosen were great, the way the story flowed was great, and the script was beautifully written. Before seeing the movie one may notice the two and a half hour Run Time and get a little nervous, but it is necessary and by the end you're still asking for just a little bit more. Batman's greatest adversary finally got the spotlight he deserved...let's ignore the fact that Heath Ledger did a remarkable job and just talk about the Joker himself. The Joker was to Batman like Venom was to Spider-man. He was THE bad guy and you want that bad guy to get just a little bit more screen time than all the others (such as Scarecrow). You want to see what makes him the arch enemy. You want to see the struggle between the two. Wow. This movie delivered. Not only was it a great movie on it's own, it was also one of the strongest and greatest sequels ever made. Check it out.

It was a long was action-packed film full of suspense and underlying messages about our society. Heath Ledger was said to be great, and I was not let down! The casting was very well done! We are even introduced to another villian which hints at a third Batman in the future. It is probably the darkest of the hero films, but it did not destroy the Batman image in any way. Go see it before you find out too much!

"The Dark Knight" is a great movie, perhaps the best of this summer (or at least neck and neck with "Iron Man"). Heath Ledger's Joker is the best thing about the movie, with the plot and action sequences all being quite good as well.
My only complaints are the movie's length and overly convoluted plot by the end, as well as an ending that is a little flat (it just sort of peters out) after such a good beginning. I think if they had cut out the entire Two Face sequence, and maybe 30 minutes of movie, it would have been a lot better. They were just trying to get too much in by the end, and seemed to lose their way in the plot complications.
Even so, still a must-see summer movie!

The Dark Knight discusses the dark times dealt with by a knight. Batman was definitely involved. Upon further review, Batman is the Dark Knight. This should've been called Batman 6: The Dark Knight. Much clearer, less mystery.

Excellent imagery, way too cool and sinister joker. But the movie did fall short a little bit when it came to bruce waynes character. instead of creating a new love interest they just changed the person and that was a little drab. batmans character wasnt really explored at all except for his crime fighting virtures. overall i loved it but next one needs to show us a little more of bruce wayne- martial art training, etc.

I went to a local Midnight show last night. Christian Bale is as dark, brooding and dangerous as in his Batman Begins role, but now we don't have to waste an hour for him to figure out what he is there to do. Heath Ledger is, indeed, a wonderful Joker. This is a very different character than Jack Nicholson's Joker. He is a lunatic, anarchist, really just interested in blowing up as many people as he can. The scenes with the two of them are incredible. Gary Oldman again performs well as Gordon (yes, he is commissioner by late in the film). Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman are at the top of their games. Aaron Eckhart, as Two Face, isn't very good and honestly the character is just in the way in the movie. Two Face is a villain who should have been saved for another film. The movie is 2 1/2 hours, and would have been every bit as good at 2 hours without the Two Face parts. This movie is about as good as it gets in the comic book super-hero genre. Dark, dark, dark as Batman is supposed to be. Great special effects, good storyline. Definitely worth seeing --- even at midnight! If you like your Batman tough and edgy, this movie is for you. Finally, a Heath Ledger note: He does a fantastic job in a beautifully written role. Oscar? Give him a nomination for first class work, but please, let's not make him the greatest actor of all time simply because he has left us.
