I was originally worried that this movie would deviate form the formula that was successful with Batman Begins. This fear was fed through high expectations, as well as previews that showed explosion after explosion, giving me the impression of a senseless action movie. These worrisome broodings were swept quickly aside. The movie proved to be true to its roots and the Nolan brothers wrote a great script. The movie had great character development, a plot that delves deeper than usual repertoire of superhero movies. This movie is darker than the previous Nolan iteration of the Batman franchise. It could have easily pushed its way into the R rating. It is too intense for children, and is aimed at the late teen to thirties crowd. The movie was a thrilling rollercoaster ride. There are superhero movies, and then there is The Dark Knight.

The new Batman saga has yet to disappoint. An eerily astonishing and very possible award-winning peformance by Heath Ledger, and as always, superb performances by the rest of the cast. Batman is soaring high above all other blockbusters. This is how "super" hero movies should be done; staying true to the roots of the characters. Great action and visual effects with a great soundtrack. This is definitely worth seeing more than once in the theater.

Chris Nolan really outdid himself here. The film was a little on the long side, but the pulse of the storyline never faded. It was so beautifully constructed and the acting was so amazing I don't know what else to say but best movie I've seen in a very long time!

First off, I really enjoyed this movie. For 150 minutes it flew by and it is hard to tell me a story and keep my interest for that long. It really was a revamp of the first with similar story structure, similar visuals, (even if most of it was a Chicago backdrop) and a predicable plot. *Spoilers* I felt that Batman was left underdeveloped most of the movie. everytime i saw bale I was a little let down, but everyone else was amazing! The most impressive accomplishment was how tangible the villians were. With their surreal comic history, they translated to the screen in a way that made them real, their actions possible. Their lives wrapped with a perfect mix of hollywood flair and guy next door, and when dealing with psychopaths you can feel them being so uncomfortably close. Joker was everything promised but two face was the real story. A great setup for a third movie and in my eyes one of the few must see movies of the last few years.

I had incredibly high expectations for this film given the beginning of the series. I am also a huge Heath Ledger fan and had been so looking forward to him in this role.
Nothing disappointed (well, except Maggie Gyllenhall, but that was really poor casting).
The movie was great. the action was good. the story was strong. the character development was solid. the fighting and effects were stellar.
i;m looking forward to seeing it again.

The movie was a great solid all around movie, except the sonar eyes was a little bit much for batman. The plot is quite streamlined and the small twists keeps the movie going.
Being a fan of the joker, the character was played out extremely well. The twisted thought process, his constantly changing story to elude a false background, and the pure thought into the character was excellent.
5 Stars.

Fantastic movie! Heath Ledger did an amazing job, as well as all of the other actors. This film was phenomenal and was totally worth seeing at 12AM. I could not have asked for anything better to spend my night watching. If you're looking for a movie to see, I definitely recommend Batman!

"Way Past Incomprehensibly Great" is the phrase I coined for this movie. The intensity of the movie is awesome. I was afraid that people would try to give Heath Ledger an Oscar just because of the tragedy, but Heath deserves three for this movie. He out-shined Batman himself. The acting was phenomenal. I saw the first showing in my city and I'm seeing it again when I get off work.

The title says it all, this really is the best movie i've seen in a very long time. everything you could ever want in a movie is in TDK. a movie not so much about batman but about human morale. 5 STARS

I'll be honest; I had my reservations going into this movie. In my opinion, one goes to a Batman movie for the villains, as much as the title character. That being said, I didn't think anyone could portray the Joker better than Jack Nicholson. Thankfully, I was sorely mistaken. Heath Ledger is absolutely brilliant. But just as brilliant are his A-List costars. The action sequences are spectacular, but the dialogue scenes (especially those between Batman and Joker) are inspired. For those interested in a simple comic book movie, this movie will not disappoint. However, for those who are interested in the idea of absolute good versus absolute evil, this film could serve as the subject of a doctoral thesis.

Pros:
*Heath Ledger gives a stunning performance that is rich in character development. You can see the work that was put into creating the Joker persona.
*Special effects are amazing and nearly seamless.
*Action sequences are rich in detail and almost back-to-back
Cons:
*Christian Bale's performance lacks some of the creativity explored in Batman Begins. He seems unable to decide what to do with the character of Bruce Wayne.
*Maggie Gyllenhaal fails to have any connection with either love interest. And (probably due to makeup and lighting) she looks too old for the part.
*The final 1/2 hour of the movie seems to drag. Introducing - and defeating - a villian with in the last 30 minutes was a mistake. The Two Face plot point appears to have been thrown in without regard to the pacing of the movie.
All in all, a great summer movie. It fulfills the expectation for action, adventure and fun...all with a sinister twist that further validates the remaking of a classic.

The Bat is back, but it's the Joker that steals this show. Ledger's portrayal is off the rails, and that unpredictable nature throws our hero for quite a loop. After all, how do you fight someone who doens't appear to have a motive or goal? Michael Caine and Gary Oldman are uniformly spot on as support, and Aaron Eckhart is quite good as Harvey Dent and as Two-Face. Wait till you see how his Two-Faces stack up to what's gone before. The only weak spot is Maggie Gyllenhal (sp?). She's just not all that special, not that Katie Holmes was either, cause she wasn't. But you would expect a little more sizzle, pizzaz or even spark in your leading lady, and she just doesn't deliver.
That aside, this is a very good movie. In fact, the realism of the action, the conflict, and the characters' belief in what is happening is quite at odds with the typical Superhero film. Have fun watching, it certainly does not feel like 2.5 hours long.

after much anticipation and waiting, this takes on a life of its own. Heath Ledger's final performance marks his most epic lifetime accomplishment ever. the characterization captured in his role of the Joker, unleashes pure chaos in the streets of Gotham. you will not find a movie as mind blowing as this in the years to come.

When I first heard that Heath Ledger was going to play the role of "The Joker" in the upcoming Batman movie, I have to admit that I was some what skeptical to say the least. For the most part Heath Ledger plays the "pretty boy" role in most of his movies. After seeing the Dark Knight, I was completely BLOWN AWAY; again to say the least. I feel that his performance let us all know that his career was just beginning, and his talent was barely seen on the big screen. He will truly be missed.
The movie as a whole, was absolutely amazing! Harvey Dent (Two Face) The Joker, some of the most intimidating of Batman's classic foes, brought an extremely Dark and action packed batman movie we've all been waiting for. You would be truly missing out if you passed this movie up!

Great acting, effects, and storyline through and through. Unlike some of the other Batman movies, there are no cheesy one-liners; the whole film possesses a dark and sinister tone that remains in your system until long after the movie is over. Heath Ledger delivers what is expected of him, and he brings the Joker's character back to a demented, deranged, creepy psychopath. Even the witty, sarcastic "Thank You For Smoking" star surprised me with his ability to transform the honest district attorney into the raging Two Face character.
There is so much more to say, but I'd rather let it all be a surprise. I want to see this movie again in the theater, and that doesn't happen often...

The hype was justified. The Dark Knight is the best movie of the summer thus far. The late Heath Ledger's performance was spectacular. Ledger's Joker is absolute Genius and Insanity rolled into one.

The Dark Knight was nothing short of epic. Ledger nails the role of the Joker and Bale once again proves batman is Gothems hope for a safe society. I HIGHLY recommend going to see this movie asap. If you have the chance go see it in IMAX just to get the full effect.
