Within the first 10 minutes of The Dark Knight, I had already left the theater and entered into Gotham City's world of organized crime and chaos. An hour later, I was engaged in the rapidly developing story-line. One more hour, and my thought that no better climax could emerge from the screen than the road rage scene was proved wrong by the psychologically-challenging last 30 minutes. At the movie's end, all I could think about was my amazement at what I had just seen, and my disappointment that Heath Ledger won't be returning as The Joker. Of all the things that made this movie great, Ledger provided the greatest piece of the pie. He showed the audience a psychotic, chaos-driven sociopath whose sense humor is unmatched by any other character in the movie, an achievement quite difficult to reach. Ledger's superb portrayal of The Joker, along with added consistently solid performances by Christian Bale and Aaron Eckhart and the bonuses of Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine, make this movie one you cannot miss. Many thought that the Spiderman franchise would be unrivaled in the comic-book-film series. Not only are they wrong, but those who thought comic-book movies couldn't surpass the depth and greatness of classic cult-hits were wrong, too. One will leave the theater with many different emotions, but in the end, we will all have loved what Nolan has done with Batman: The Dark Knight.

It's an amazing movie and Heath Ledger's best work, may he rest in peace. Christian Bale plays the best Batman yet and is a great movie to watch. The new Batman movie, "The Dark Night" is a must see. If you like Batman, you'll love this.

This is by far the greatest batman movie ever made. I was blown away by this movie. Heath Leader put on the performance of a lifetime with his portrayal of The Joker. It is worth seeing again and again. Christian Bale also did a wonderful Job as Batman as did the other actors but Heath Ledger stole the show. This movie is worthy of and Oscar for Best Picture and Best Supporting Actor for Heath Ledger.

I had very high expectations for this movie. I expected action pack, drama, and excellent acting. This Film Did not dissapoint.
Some people may say that it was to dark of a film, but if you know batmans character from the series, he isn't a load of sunshine. He is a man who has inner demons to battle within himself and thismovie shows you just why he is like that. Which if you seen the movie you can understand why.
I loved it. If I wasn't clapping and screaming go batman during the action packed scenes and the fighting I was gripping my seat and holding my chest because I had no idea what was going to happen and it was intense.
It really was the best batman.
Perfect Casting, (rip heath) and perfect chemistry all along the way.
And even though the movie at times can break your heart and you want things to be different. You realize , this movie shows what the world needs to break a man (or men) down. And it was executed perfectly.
It wasn't called the Dark Knight just for batman.

This movie is easily the number one movie of the year. The performance of Heath Ledger is easily Oscar worthy. He brings the joker character to life. His performance steals the show and makes him more of the main character. The whole movie is amazing and not just the performance of Heath Ledger. The story line is quite incredible. At times it is hard to follow in the end it is understood. As some have seen the critics have given it an A- but I feel that this movie is an A+. Go See This Movie or you will regret it later!

The best movie of 2008, not to be missed!!! Heath Ledger's performance is all it's hyped up to be and more. A landmark performance. Matches up to the best screen performances of all villains like Anthony Hopkin's Hannibal Lecter.
The best movie of the superhero genre. But if you don't normally run to theaters for a super hero movie Christopher Nolan's masterpiece isn't your run of the mill superhero movie by an stretch. It's a compelling crime drama with heroes, great action, a sprinkle of romance, and the greatest matchup between hero & villain I've ever seen.
I would find hard to not see 'The Dark Knight' at least three times.

The Dark Knight is a highly entertaining movie that doesn't seem 2 hrs. 30 min. long. Some of the images were hard for my children 13 & 10 to watch, but they still really enjoyed the movie.

This was a fantastic movie. All of the actors did a superb job in making you believe in their characters. The joker as played Heath Ledger was evil and at the same time likeable with his little ticks and quirks. One of the best comic book movie adaptations I have ever seen.

The Dark Knight exceeded my expectations. I found the story, the suspense and the secondary characters to be delightful. I do find Bale's Batman tiresome, growling and pouting. Feeling sorry for themselves seems to be a growing superhero trend that I am tired of, let's find a new way to show superhero angst.
The film is suspenseful, great soundtrack that really lends to the action, and very, very dark.
If you enjoy being a part of the movie-going consciousness, definitely see it. Otherwise, if you are a casual theater patron, I would not recommend this film, solely because I do not think it requires a big screen to enjoy. Save yourself the theater bucks and rent it later.

Well worth the wait, excellent movie from start to finish. Very few sequels are as good as the original, but this is the exception. Heath Ledger was captivating, you couldn't wait to see the Joker reappear. Totally recommend this movie to everyone.

I know it's called the "Dark Knight," but this movie really was beyond dark. It was very different from "Batman Begins" in terms of tonality and just the sheer level of violence. A lot of people will like it just for this reason, but to me it was a turn-off. I like action, and the writing was good, but the images became increasingly disturbing, to where I almost didn't want to look at them. It's getting to the point where people are impossible to shock, and even superhero movies are pushing the envelope in an effort to scare and disturb. Not my cup of tea.

As you may have read/heard already this is probably the best Batman release ever. This one is definitely not for kids, especially since the Joker is portrayed as he should be: deranged, demented. The effects were amazing and this one will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout the movie.

Heath Ledger is an awesome joker...so freakin twisted. he brought that character to life (sorry nicholson fans). And thank goodness for maddie gyllenhall...way better than katie holmes. But the movie was so good. it has everything you want. Action, a little romance, startles here and there, and two villians.AWESOME

Batman Begins gave me hope for this new take on the Bat-franchise, and Dark Knight put to rest my doubts that they wouldn't be able to continue to do justice to the graphic novels.
For a 2 and a half hour movie, I never once felt bored, or that the story was dragging on. I was captivated by the performances. People will be talking about Ledger's portrayal of the Joker for years to come. Fans of Frank Miller's Batman graphic novels will continue to appreciate Christopher Nolan's take on the Bat universe.
There are but a few movies I see that make me feel like I should go back to see a second time while they're still in theaters, and this is one of them.

This movie was an amazing contrast of good and evil and excellently blended the lights and darks of the traditional comic experience. Even people who've never picked up a Batman comic book would be hard-pressed not to get emotionally swept up in the enthusiasm and terror that Heath Ledger and Christian Bale brought whole-heartedly to the screen. Heath Ledger brought an astonishing contrast to this role compared to every role he has ever played before, it just goes to show his ultimate versatility as an actor. He shows us what happens when you take a role and actually become the role.

Wow. This is one very, very, VERY good movie. If not for the hype -- which is bound to take some of the polish off anything -- I might even say "great" or "magnificent." But this ain't no "comic book movie," gents. Except for the guy in the kevlar suit and the guy with grungy hair and bad make-up, this is a gritty, violent, sociopolitical crime drama/action flick. Yeah, it's all that. And more.
Don't let anyone spoil the pencil trick for you. It's quick, but it so clearly defines all that the Joker is and sets us up for everything that comes afterward. Nicholson's Joker was the kind of clown that makes us laugh at the circus. Ledger's Joker is the kind of clown that haunts your dreams. But I hope no one makes the mistake of thinking it's Ledger alone who's made this movie the blockbuster it will become (or already is). He's icing on the cake, the crowning touch to a great ensemble that fits together seamlessly.
There are really no throwaway parts here; each character plays a pivotal role in the story, from Caine's Alfred to Oldman's Gordon to Eric Roberts' Maroni to Eckhart's Dent to, yes, even Gyllenhaal's Rachel Dawes. (Perhaps the movie's only weak link, she's certainly got the acting chops Katie Holmes lacks, but she lacks the drop-dead gorgeous beauty a Bruce Wayne squeeze needs to justify his longing, IMNSHO.) And of course there's Bale as BW/Batman, firmly entrenching himself as THE definitive Caped Crusader once and for all. This ain't Michael Keaton or Val Kilmer or George Clooney running around in a rubber suit and tossing bad puns around amidst candy-colored backgrounds. Nope, Bale's is a Batman that kicks butt and takes names. (He still may have an aversion to killing, but he's certainly not afraid to really seriously work you over!) And, much like Downey's Tony Stark, he's just as good WITHOUT the suit. Really.
I loved it. My wife loved it. The audience loved it -- a packed house so jazzed for the flick they started clapping and hooting and hollering the moment they saw the Warner Brothers logo come up. And, perhaps as amazing as anything else, I couldn't help but be struck by how quiet and attentive and downright mesmerized they were from beginning to end. At several quiet, tense moments you could hear a pin drop in the theater -- no mumbling, no grumbling, no nervous laughter, NOTHING. Either this was the most well-behaved audience I've ever been a part of or this movie REALLY made them pay attention. Maybe both?
Yeah, I'd go see it. But I wouldn't take the kid, and I'd see it in a packed house to get the full effect. I'm gonna see it again -- maybe the IMAX version next time -- and that's the first time in a long time I've felt that way immediately.
