Great movie, though tiresome

The Dark Knight exceeded my expectations. I found the story, the suspense and the secondary characters to be delightful. I do find Bale's Batman tiresome, growling and pouting. Feeling sorry for themselves seems to be a growing superhero trend that I am tired of, let's find a new way to show superhero angst.
The film is suspenseful, great soundtrack that really lends to the action, and very, very dark.
If you enjoy being a part of the movie-going consciousness, definitely see it. Otherwise, if you are a casual theater patron, I would not recommend this film, solely because I do not think it requires a big screen to enjoy. Save yourself the theater bucks and rent it later.
