I thought the movie was slow at the beginning but got better as it went along. It is such a shame the heath ledger will not be around to do the next one beause he did an awesome job. waiting for the next one.

Though the movie was a little long for my liking, Heath Ledger just blew me away. In fact, after seeing the flick with my mom and dad(i know, how cut for a 19 yr old), my dad didn't even know heath ledger played The Joker. Again, he just stunned me. The effects were incredible. I can't wait for the next one! Just as long as there's not a batman and robin, im totally stoked for the next one!

Went to the midnight show and had no problem staying awake for the 2-1/2 hour thrill ride. There was no time spent in character developement here... the action kicks in right out of the blocks. LOVED Maggie as Rachael and Christian was great, but it's Heath 'The Joker' Ledger that steals this movie. He does in this movie what Johnny Depp did for "Pirates". Only complaint was that the ending was just a bit confusing and we definitley walked out with some questions in our minds. Bring on the next one!!!

`The Dark Knight' is everything that the graphic novels are and making it work for 2 1/2 hours. Action, suspense, some comedy and all fun.
The entire cast is superb... including Michael Cane as Alfred for his wit and Heath Ledger as the Joker (most defined incarnation). The best movie of the 6 (and 2 directed by Christopher Nolan). Next...

If you are expecting a lot of explosions and fight scenes in The Dark Knight, I cannot say you will be disappointed. However, this movie packs more of a haunting psychological impact than any that could be gained by mere action. Heath Ledger is truly stellar as the Joker and his scenes alone are worth the price of admission. There are just a few scene which seem a little superfluous upon further viewings, but they are not likely to detract from the overall excellence of the film experience. Christian Bale is at least adequate, Aaron Eckhart is quite good himself, Gary Oldman is terrific, and all the other supporting actors are near ideal for their roles. This is one of the best films of the year, no question.

This movie lives up to the hype, it's undoubtfully the best of the summer. More breathtaking action sequences, similar to those in Batman Begins, but also new and fresh. Shaky hand-held footage when the Joker's involved. Intriguing characters both familiar and new. Heath Ledger's Joker is the best I've ever seen. He's crazy in a scary terrorist-like way, and only humorous a bit, so he seems real and not an over-acted sideshow. I liked their believable explanation of Joker's scars and make-up, it's gut-wrenching, quick and without laborious backstory. I liked having Batman's home base come from the Wayne Enterprises Building this time to give us a break from the mansion/batcave. I also liked Batman having other forms of transportation in addition to the batmobile. Cool new gadgets. Special effects and music score are not exaggerated but just right! The film is a bit long, but it's a fast-paced good story. Well worth the wait, money and time...WOW!!! Fans will want to see this more than once!

I am a major Batman fan and absolutely LOVED Batman Begins...but I left this film feeling a bit disapointed and confused. LOTS of darkness, death, violence and destruction in this film and the ending wasn't very hopeful. The action scenes were great and I enjoyed the Batpod vs. the 18 wheeler scene...that was brilliant! I thought the acting was overall very good and Ledger's re-invention of the Joker was inspired. Batman's voice was mixed too loud and over the top this time around...even more so than in Batman Begins. It became a bit of a distraction. Fight scenes were better than Begins but still a little confusing and hard to figure out...especially in the last 15 minutes of the film. The ending left me shaken and stirred (the new Bond trailer looks AWESOME, btw!). I guess I was spoiled by Iron Man, which had its flaws, but I feel was a much better, entertaining and well-balanced film. I enjoyed The Dark Knight, but I find it difficult to recommend it.

Good as an action movie, terrific acting. Jack Nicholson is a hard Joker to follow, but Heath Ledger aced it. The entire cast was a pleasure to watch. Unless you are totally violence-averse you will want to see it. I do think it didn't need to be quite so long, and if we're going to be in the comic/superhero world, can't we have a bit more satisfying triumph of good over evil? At the end it seemed like yes, it was over, but did the good guys win? Not so clear. And did we really need to introduce a second quasi-villain at the end. Did he die or what? I didn't mind extra time in the air conditioning, but there was too much plot and too many bad guys. Why did we care about the Chinese guy again? It was reminiscent of some James Bond movies where it reaches a climax, but then, whoops, we're still going.

As a sequel "The Dark Knight" surpasses "Batman Begins" which is saying a lot. Both films take a more serious approach to the Batman legend when compared to the first five films. Heath Ledger gave an amazing performance as the most depraved Joker yet. No surprise that Morgan Freeman is a great supporting character as Lucius Fox the man who develops Batmans "toys" and continues to pretend he doesn't know of the dual identity. Also no surprise that Michael Caine and Gary Oldman play their roles as Alfred & Commisioner Gordon with the easy grace of the consummate actors which they are.
Even with the wealth of talent in this cast the movie surpassed all expectations. I would have to say "two snaps up and a circle!"

He can build a machine to spy on all of Gotham, abscond with an entire ballet troup, fly in and out of skyscrapers with unbelieveable precision. So, why can't he get Morgan Freeman to design him a voice disguise box so he doesn't have to talk like a creepy old man with laryngitis?
Other than that, this movie was fantastically assembled. The joker has you terrified, then laughing, then terrified again. But, if you are squeamish... don't look at Harvey Dent. That god awful cleft chin is enough to make you put down the popcorn. His appearance improves a little near the end of the movie.
I will see this again and again. I bet it's sweet in IMAX!
Leave the kids at home and check this one out.

Heath Ledger's performance is brilliant. A, you don't even recognize him - he, as a star, is subsumed into the Joker (a very rare feat for A list stars) and B, he incarnates the chaos and evil of the 21st century in a way that gets right under your skin - and bones. His brand of terrorism is the hallmark of this century.
Batman's role, embodied in Christian Bale, is the truest to the original comic book genre, a Hamlet with barely controlled rage and the wish for vengeance even as he doubts himself. Every role is well done in this film. Special kudos to Aaron Eckhart and Gary Oldman, as well as Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman. Even in their brief moments on the screen, they excel. I don't often see movies twice, but this one is a MUST.

Probably the best comic adaptation ever. I would urge parents of smaller children to see it without your youngsters first and then decide if they should see it. This is not a kids movie. It is dark and violent and the villians are truly scary.
This the best movie so far for 2008 and I don't really see anything being better.

This movie was a blast because of its all-star cast and the story plot that goes with it. The Joker played by Heath Ledger gives a electrifying performance and Aaron Eckhart playing Harvey Dent / Two-Face comes in a near second as the best portrayal from the comic books. Overall, The Dark Knight does serious justice that holds true to the Batman saga in which it would make Bob Kane proud.

I made sure I marked this movie on the calander. While the late Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker was comendablr I felt the best performance was Aaron Eckhart's
performance as district attoorney Harvey Dent
stole the show. The ending was like a "blindside block".
This film will satified the "hardcore" fan.

This was hands down the best "superhero" movie I've ever seen, precisely because it didn't feel like a superhero movie. Iron Man may have had slicker visuals and action sequences, but The Dark Knight has set a new standard for story depth and pathos. I know it's already been said ad nauseum, but I have to reiterate the Heath Ledger was absolutely amazing as The Joker. Nicholson who? I'll be going back to see this again at least a few more times.

It's been a tough summer for really good movies. Few and far between. I was worried 'The Dark Knight' wasn't going to live up to all the hype, so I tried to go in with low expectations. I wasn't disappointed. I have seen it twice now. Each time, I have seen it with friends who are not huge fans of superhero movies. Every one of them was shocked at how good it was.
Christopher Nolan has quite a vision for the world of Gotham, Batman, and the villians. It is sad to think Nolan setup the next film perfectly and with the death of Heath Ledger it really lives things up in the air.
All the performances were right on! This movie better be nominated for Best Picture!

Heath Ledger's performance as the Joker was amazing (and I wasn't a huge HL fan to start with)! Best movie villain performance since Hannibal Lecter...seriously! The action sequences were awesome. Story line and performances by the rest of the cast was great. Will see it again before it leaves theaters.

5 stars!!! Heath Ledger did an AMAZING job plaing the joker...he took it to an entirely new level! I took my son 3rd grader and there were some scary parts, but overall the best batman by far and great message too!
