With a "darker" side of Batman appearing, and an Oscar winning performance by Heath Ledger as "Joker", this movie is a must see! The key is you must see "Batman Begins" first to set the story line. A faster paced movie than the first, more action, more technology, and with an appearance from another comic book character in "Two-Face", this movie takes the comic book movies to another level and possibly movies all together!

I am sure I am one of the very few that feels that this movie was too long. I was actually bored with all the dialoge. I was very excited about this movie and loved the first one of this series. But it just wen on and on with too much joker dialoge for my taste. My husband liked it, jus thought it needed to be shorter and my teenage son thought the joker was funny. All in all I am sure I am in the minority, and was surprised at how I felt. Due to my feelings I just cant recommend it. I was glad to see few people brought their kids... It is not a movie kids should see... Too deep!

best comic book movie ever. the dark knight is more in depth than other batman movies. heath ledger is phenomanal as the joker. the only bad thing is that it doesn't explain how the joker became himself, but it does explain how another villan came to be. GO WATCH THIS MOVIE!!!!

This movie was the best superhero movie I have ever seen, and one of the best movies period. Heath Ledger was fantastic as the joker and porduced a truly memorable performance. The writting and all the performances where fantatastic. When it was over i begged for more!!!

Its hard to believe, after a summer of bombs that something so much anticipated could live up to the challenge. The Dark Knight was excellent. Heath Ledger gives an Oscar worthy role as the Joker. There are no comic book laughs in this one, he's one bad dude with a sense of humor. Psychotic to the bone, as evil a villan as cinema has ever seen. Christian Bale's Batman is tough as nails, but sounds like he just finished smoking a pack of cigarettes. Plenty of fights, explosions, and awesome toys. A great story of good against evil, a true id vs ego.

The Batman, as always, is heroic and impressive, but the movie itself is even more so. It questions the very meaning of Heroism and Terrorism. It pushes the viewer to consider what is acceptable while hero strives to triumph over terrorist: should the public ever be deceived or spied upon without consent? whose lives can be lost in the battle and who must be saved? will a twisted villain ever respond to these heroic acts or is there a time to give in? The movie may be set in a spectacular comic book world with superheroes and supervillains, but the themes certainly resonate with current real world dilemmas. So...Love it for Ledger, love it for the action and effects, or love it for the moral debates...no doubt you will love it.

A tad on the long side, sometimes hard to understand characters' speech, but a HUGE improvement over Batman Begins.
Ledger's performance was brilliant, definitely the highlight of the film. Don't know how they'll find someone else to play the Joker after this. He completely turned Jack Nicholson's character around. Morgan Freeman did a fabulous job, as always. The fight scenes were good -- lots of action, some suspense. Definitely worth the price of a ticket.

This movie is well made, it keeps you on the egde of your seat throughout. The preformance by Heath Ledger is remarkable ( also the rest of the cast) I think it will be the first Comic book remake to have the option to win an Oscar ( maily due to Ledger's prefomance) It is important to remark that before I went to see it I thought most of the hype is due to Ledger's untimely death but he truely deserves the rave reviews he has received and it was very sad to think such a good actor will no longer grace our screens

Despite Nolan's attempts to stay away from CGI in this newest Batman movie, they sure have produced a well rounded ACTION film. Special effects, cool chase scenes, sinister bad guys (Joker and a greatly overlooked Two-Face by the trailers), new gadgets, and a whole lot of bang are what to expect at a premium from this summer blockbuster. I would recommend this to a friend but only if that friend was older than 12 because of a conflict with impatience and a 2:30 run time, not to mention that joker and two-face are both really scary. I probably would not waste your time if you are looking for something other than pure, awesome action because, despite all the hoopla about Ledger's performance (it was very enchanting), the movie is not a drama.

I want to start out by writing, I am not a fan of comic book movies. I suppose I was compelled to see it because I was/am a huge Heath Ledger fan. That being written, I must go on to write that this was by far one of the greatest films I've seen in the last two years. The 2-1/2 hours? Flew by, at least for me. The entire cast was phenominal. You did not see comic book characters, this time these were real people and they made you feel what they were feeling. The action was fantastic, I along with the other viewers gasped out loud throughout. Someone asked me what I thought of Heath Ledger's performance. I could only say "he was Heath...as with all of his roles, you forget it's him, because he becomes the character so well, so deeply that you cannot see him. He was frightening, brilliant. To say "well done" is far too much of an understatement. This was great! I loved it. Apparently I was not alone. The entire theater was captivated. Expressing themselves throughout and applauding at the end as though it were a live performance. I am very glad I made the decision to go.

Dark Knight exemplifies the Joker in its truest sense. Action from beginning to end. A few ends are left undone, which just makes for a better follow up movie. I wouldn't recommend for children - it's not gory or sexual or anything, but the plot is sinister and some of the action could be overwhelming. I would see it again!

If you have been following the Batman films for some time you might be familiar with the rollercoaster ride the level of quality has taken throughout the series. The same can be said for "The Dark Knight" While I was a fan of Batman Begins, that movie pales in comparison to Knight both in terms of action and drama.
To put it bluntly, as of right now, "The Dark Knight" is simply the best superhero movie I have ever seen. The movie flows organically from the end point of Begins. The characters are all true to their origins in the comics and on the screen. We get significant more screen time for some of our favorites (Oldman and Freeman) and we get some stellar performances (Ledger and Eckhart)
What really wowed me thoughout was the story telling. It perfectly weaved the Joker's story with the birth of the Two-Face villian. It perfectly defined the dichotomy between the Joker and Batman without being hokey. All in all one of the best movies of the summer '08!

This movie was so good, I went back the following night to see it again. I was never a big Heath Ledger fan, but he kicked Jack Nicholson's butt when it comes to playing the Joker.
The movie is nice and long, so nothing is kept short and there is some sort of confrontation at least every 20 minutes so you never get bored. Once again, I did not want this movie to end and I am impatiently waiting the end of this (so I hear) trilogy.
Reports on my local radio station have been saying that if you stay to the end of the credits, there is a tribute to Heath Ledger. I stayed the second night, and saw nothing. So don't hold your breath on that one.
Otherwise, this movie is gold.
