This movie did live up to all of the pre-release hype. It is truly dark. The untimely passing of Heath Ledger added to the dark macabre of the film. It is great! Don't wait until it comes out on DVD--go see in a theater!

I love what is going on in the movie industry right now with super hero flicks. Dc and Marvel are running away with auidences and they got my attention. Batman(the dark Knight) has to to be one of the best ever in super hero movie not to mention one of the best complete films this year! I cant wait to see how they will top this one and who the next bad guy will be. Heath Ledger carried this move, and I thought Aaron Echart was great too! Hey Marvel!!! your turn!

I'd heard the hype, read the notions of Heath Ledger's possible Oscar nomination / win and thought...c'mon, can it really be THAT GOOD? The answer, this is quite possible the best movie I have ever seen. Non-stop action from beginning to end, a Joker that you can really sink your teeth into, and Bales' performance of The Batman is once again stellar. I left the theater wanting nothing more than to plop down my money again and sit in for another go round. Earlier in the summer I had considered IRON MAN as the best superhero movie of all time, now I question Iron Man who??. THE DARK KNIGHT will not disapoint and will leave you wanting more.

All I can say about this movie is, it's about time! The role of the Joker, written beautifully, acted perfectly, finally nails the bad guy role. This is the first villain that is not afraid to die and uses fear and anarchy to the fullest through his sick games. Awesome flick!

This movie was excellent! I loved Batman Begins, but this one was even better. Before I saw the movie, I thought the buzz about Heath Ledger was being exaggerated because of his unfortunate and untimely death, but if he doesn't win every award he is nominated for I will be completely shocked. This was his best roll ever!

Let me start out by saying I am a Big Batman fan. I have been since I was a child. I have seen all the Batman films. Batman The Beginning and The Dark Knight bring something more to the table. Christian Bale and Heath Ledger both do an excellent ,superb job with their characters.
Batman code of ethics remains intact when everythiing around is turning to chaos. He remains as the one constant for the city of Gotham.

The film only comes alive when Heath Ledger as the Joker is on the screen. What a powerful and brilliant portrayal! If he wasn't in the film it would be just another special effects and chase movie. The last half hour featuring 2face should have been cut for it was a boring and tedious sequence.

I have to admit I was skeptical about this movie but I quickly became a fan. The story was written in a way that just keeps going, when you think that it may be at the end, it starts up with a surprise. That was the amazing part of this movie. The acting was very good, not just Heath's roll but all the other actors as well. The cinematography was also very good and the musical score was perfect! For me, this is the best movie of 2008 hands down.

I think this was all about the Joker, and he delivered. Action packed and visually stimulating, although on several occasions I did think it was ending (finally), only to have another 30 minutes thrown in.

DK held up to the hype. Great performances, plot twists, and of course SE's. As far as my personal preference goes Christian Bale is the best Bruce Wayne I have ever seen on the screen, but his Batman leaves something to be desired although I cant quite put my finger on it. Great movie, will see again, and Ledger as the Joker....forget about it! Even if he hadn't passed away so suddenly this performace would have catapulted his career to the stratosphere of hollywood like no other in a long time. Unbelievable.

This is the best movie of the year. Ledger as the Joker made the movie what it was. I think Christopher Nolan did a wonderful job depicting the darkness of the Joker and used the Chicago scenery in so many ways. Best Batman movie by far!!

This movie will not get the awards it deserves. There are simply too many pretentious and uppity people in Hollywood who look down on the comic book origins of Batman. I am comforted by this, though, because I am certain that this film will break every box office record. Period.
Bale establishes himself far and away as the embodiment of Batman/Bruce Wayne. This is no to diminish the work of other actors in the past but having seen all the Batman films there is nothing else to say. You really do think that what you are seeing is real - that Bruce Wayne simply looks like the guy from American Psycho. Bale brings Wayne/Batman to life, on screen. There really is no other way to put it.
I was very skeptical of Ledger's casting and man was I too quick to judge. The tragedy of his death goes without saying but what Ledger does is nothing short of remarkable. I have never seen, and I have seen many films in my time, a portrayal like this one, anywhere, in any genre. The best description I can give is tour de force.
There is no measurement for what Ledger did with the role of the Joker.
Every other major part - Oldman as Gordon, Gyllenhaal as Dawes, Caine as Alfred, Freeman as Fox, and Eckhart as Dent - is perfect. I know that word might seem a little too plain in this case but sweet mercy it is true.
Any critic who tries to tell you that the acting in this film, by the actors mentioned above, is anything but stellar is lying to you.
I don't have the words to explain what Chris Nolan has done but if you don't walk out of this theater absolutely flabbergasted by what you have just seen - go to the hospital and have them check your pulse.
Don't see this movie in anything but the best theatre at the best time - less crowds, better seats, etc. etc. You don't want anything getting in the way of the pure cinematic art that you are about to see.
This film is THAT good.
