Everyone said it was amazing, and they were right on! That movie was amazing, especially Heath Ledger. However, every actor and actress' performances were great, very believable. I would highly recommend everyone go see this movie. Although it was very dark, it had some comedy and even romance, something for everyone. GO SEE IT!!!

The Dark Knight is an excellent example of taking the cinematic medium and stretching it to its limits. Andre Bazin, a French film critic, wrote in 1957, "The American cinema is a classical art, so why not then admire in it what is most admirable, not only the talent of [a single filmaker], but the genius of the system." He was referring to all the aspects (social, technological, economic, asthetic) work in balance to create something very unique. The filmakers involved with The Dark Knight understand that balance, that whole equation that makes the American film a work of art. All involved from writer-director Nolan, actors Bale, Caine, Ledger, Eckhart, Freeman and Oldham, to the cinematographers, art directors, editors, costumers and make-up artists have created a classic example of the classical art called American cinema. Note should also be made to the complete' of the art and that is its sound from sound effects to mixing to the haunting Zimmer score. All aspects work together to form a complete film that is both intriguing and exciting.

too many times that he could have killed the Joker but didn't.

Best Batman film to date. The special effects were out of this world. The late Heath Ledger was fantastic. Superb acting all around. I highly recommend this film. I will probably pre-order for DVD release when I finish writing this review.

I went into this movie with very high expectations, and surprisingly, the film exceeded my hopes! As has been written in every other review of this film, Ledger truly dominates the screen. His performance as the joker is certainly Oscar-worthy and will be talked about for years to come...
But let's not forget about some of the other exceptional performances in this film. Oldman shines once again as Gordan, this time in a larger role. Caine once again sets the standard for Alfred, and Bale does an excellent job keeping the Batman character toeing the hero/villain line. The only possible problem with this film (besides the fact that its about 30 minutes too long) is Eckhart's portrayal of Harvey Dent. While he gets the job done as Harvey the Golden Boy, he doesn't come across as believable once Harvey starts to discover the villain inside.
Overall, this film delivers, and likely outdoes its predecessor. We find ourselves cheering for the menacing Joker in some way, and the film offers and interesting critique on modern day terrorism and how it affects human behavior. With some unbelievable plot twists throughout, this film will keep you on the edge of your seat.
I'm trying to find a friend to go see it with me again tonight!
Watcher beware: the PG-13 rating is accurate. I wouldn't let an eight-year-old watch this film.

more joker! batman is like a second fiddle to the joker. dont get me wrong... batman is awesome too, the joke is so hardcore you just want to see more. the best batman yet... although some of the action is so fast paced it lost me for a min. which might not be the fault of the movie... i am getting older.

The Dark Knight was the best movie that I've seen this year! It was refreshing to see a Batman script with depth. The other movies (particularly Batman Forever) were light and comical. I must say that all the cast did an excellent job, and the world lost a true gem in Heath Ledger. He played the hell outta the Joker!

The Dark Knight is a home run, except for the length. This really plays like two separate movies mashed into one, and you find yourself wondering why the story is still going.
That said, it's well worth the price of admission. Heath Ledger lives up to the posthumous hype, Bale, Eckhart, Oldman, and Caine all shine. I'm not sure Gyllenhaal plays it as well as Katie Holmes, but she's passable.
The story is gripping, and the action and effects top notch. Without spoiling anything, there is one makeup effect that is extraordinary.
Go see it.

Best Batman movie ever? Yes.
Best superhero movie ever? Yes.
The Dark Knight surpasses Batman Begins and is more than just a superhero movie. Gotham is a city thrown into chaos by the Joker (played perfectly by the late Heath Ledger). The movie asks the audience, what would you do should this happen to your city? Would you stand up for justice or hide in the shadows and blame others (i.e. Batman) for your blight. I'm reminded of the line from Boondock Saints ... "The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far is as needed?" Does Batman have what it takes to do what is necessary to rid Gotham of the Joker? I would say Yes, due to his sacrifice at the end; becoming the outcast so that Gotham can begin anew.

I had high expectations going into the sequel of my favorite Batman big-screen depiction. And I was not disappointed. Sure, I was anxious to see the antics of the late Heath Ledger as the Joker. I tried not to bye too much into the Ledger hype though thinking it might just be inflated due to his recent passing. But as far as his role in the film is concerned I have one thing to say: he nailed it! Props have to be given to the entire production crew who were involved in writing, dressing, and casting this perfect depiction of the biggest Batman villain to grace comics and movies alike. As far as the production as a whole, I give it an A+, 9.8 out of 10, 2 thumbs up. With so many "brand name" sequels hitting the screen this year it would have been easy for Nolan and Co. to take short cuts and just get this film out there. But they went the whole nine yards in offering an action packed, story backed Batman thriller that leaves you satisfied yet begging for more. My only question is who's next? Who will Nolan tackle as the next Batman baddie? I'll be waiting.

Many of the special effects were well done, however the movie was about 45 minutes too long - the plot stretched too thin and, with the exception of Ledger's Joker, the acting over-done and contrived. Ledger proved he deserves to be named among the most talented. If you are a true comic book fan you'll love it - if not??

I have seen all of the SuperMan movies, all of the Spiderman movies, and all of the Batman movies and this is the best of them all. Heath Ledger's performance was incredible, never did I watch his performance and see Heath Ledger, I saw only the Joker, only the maniac that he is. Top Notch movie!

I would say so much was the excitement to see the actual film that i literally ignored the promo rushes before the film. The Dark Knight is rivetting, intelligent and one can easily count this as the best comic book adaptation ever. The film that has its soul set with intense acting along with typical big ticket stunts and blow ups. For me Joker is exhillerating villain, he sparks in entertainment, excitement and desire to watch more of him in the movie. Now needn't mention Heath Ledger here coz he has delved deep into being the Joker and all those talks of his having an oscar posthumously aren't pennyless at all.
Christian Bale is intense and he has all merits to take from this film. The other cast have all played their part to the level needed for this film. The Dark Knight is a big screen experience and i would suggest you to go ahead and book yourself an IMX ticket from movietickets.com.
