More than a superhero movie

Best Batman movie ever? Yes.
Best superhero movie ever? Yes.
The Dark Knight surpasses Batman Begins and is more than just a superhero movie. Gotham is a city thrown into chaos by the Joker (played perfectly by the late Heath Ledger). The movie asks the audience, what would you do should this happen to your city? Would you stand up for justice or hide in the shadows and blame others (i.e. Batman) for your blight. I'm reminded of the line from Boondock Saints ... "The question is not how far. The question is, do you possess the constitution, the depth of faith, to go as far is as needed?" Does Batman have what it takes to do what is necessary to rid Gotham of the Joker? I would say Yes, due to his sacrifice at the end; becoming the outcast so that Gotham can begin anew.
