The movie is a must see. I really enjoyed it and I wasn't even a Trekie fan. The cast of Star Trek were phenomenal, especially Kirk and Spock. They did a great job acting wise as far as the 2nd generation. The special effects were dynamic (see it IMAX if you can). I am certain you will enjoy the acting, action, touch of comedy and storyline.

My only issue was that it was rated PG-13 and not R. I tend to find R movies much more crass and gory, which is to my liking personally. There is always a different feel to rated R movies that PG-13 just can't handle. Don't you think Captain Kirk used curse words in his younger years? He sure did when he got older...

Stands alone but they did an awesome job introducing us to the characters we already knew. Casting was perfect and the story was great. Can't say more without giving anything away - just go see it.

To boldly go where No Man Has Gone Before. Although the story line was a bit weak, it is a great action adventure flick from beginning to end. Some of the action packed sequences seem far stretched, but our grandparents might think today's technology is far fetched from 1900 to 2009 with wireless technology. I can hardly wait for JJ Abrams to complete the next 2 and perhaps many more Star Treks. To Boldly show that Good always trumps over Evil. I recommend highly all those New Trekkie Fans to view this one as I had my doubts as I became a Trekkie at 15 watching the original cast when they debuted in 1966, but this Star Trek lived up to the original series.

I had a number of problems with this film. The whole thing just felt shallow and cheesy. There was dumb humor sprinkled throughout the whole thing which made it silly. Plot holes galore. The sci-fi aspect wasn't nearly as believable as in past Star Trek movies.

Wasn't sure what to expect. When I first heard they were doing a young STAR TREK I had negative thoughts, but I decided to go and see for myself.
I was thrilled with the action and the actors protrayals. All of the actors hit the mark, they must have studied the orginial series.
This is a must see for those of us that LOVED THE ORGINIAL SERIES.

Having been a lifelong fan of the original series I' m often wary of anything Star Trek. Enterprise was the only spin off I liked so I must just have a thing for prequels.
This was a good movie. At times it feels a bit like a spoof, which I also like, at other times it is just plain good. There is chemistry between the characters, which in my opinion was missing in all of the TNG spin offs, sets look appropriately primitive, costumes fit the time period, and Majel Barrett Roddenberry (RIP) is still the computers voice.
The cast is very good, especially Karl Urban who could pass for DeForest Kelley's son. The only pet peeve I have is with changes to the canon, they are explained in the plot, but I would have preferred a different ending.

This is one of the best Star Trek movies yet, to me it was the best to my husband it is the second( he loves the Wrath of Kahn). It starts right out with action, the actors were great I love the new Kurk and Spock, Then there's Bones he was perfect! This movie get's an A+!

This movie was awesome!! This movie edges slightly past Star Trek 2, The Wrath of Khan as being the best of all the Star Trek movies!! Zachary Quinto's performance as Spock is a great tribute to Leonard Nimoy and Chris Pine was a great choice as James T. Kirk!! Kudos to J.J. Abrams for tying loose ends with Captain Pike!! Please bring us some Klingons if you plan on making another movie!!

This movie satisfied my entire family. I have two children who were totally unfamiliar with the original star trek and a husband who is a closet trekkie but also just very difficult to please when it comes to movies and we all left the theater gushing. Special effects, characters and story were all top notch. Would recommend to anyone.

I'm coming from the place of a Trek fan from back in the day. Grew up watching TNG and got into TOS more recently. So while I was dreading this reboot, I recognized that the franchise was in desperate need of new blood and energy. And this film pretty much delivers. Stak Trek 2009 might not have been written with any big ideas or written very well (lots of convenient coincidences), but it is a blast to watch and the cast absolutely nail their parts. J.J. Abrams focused on building the characters and the action, and in that regard he succeeded. This Trek is exciting, funny, and breathlessly paced.

WOW, as an old trekkie who watched the original rollout of the Enterprise on Sept. 8, 1966. This was great. Will definately be buying the DVD. Not to sure about the lovey dovey stuff with Spock and Uhura. I hear the cast has been signed for two more. Would be great to see another series with this cast, all did an excellent job, especially John Cho and of course Leonard Nemoy.

Speaking as someone familiar with the Star Trek universe, but not a hard core Treker, this was a great movie. It did a very good job of showing the beginnings of the characters relationships.
While it had plenty of action and special effects, it had a also sound plot and excellent acting. Although there are plenty of treats for fans of the original Star Trek, you don't need to know anything of it to enjoy this movie.

Awesome movie! The wife and I totally enjoyed it. You don't have to be a Star Trek fan to be entertained by this one. I would see it again. Make sure you go to a theater with the biggest screen you can find. We went to one with a small screen and it didn't do it justice.
