I'd heard reviews of this on the radio and so it was my Mother's Day wish to see it. It was like being reunited with Star Trek of my childhood. The Spock/Vulcan storyline was the most interesting to me. It was very well done from start to finish. Thanks JJ Abrams for bringing the original story back to life. I can't wait to buy the DVD.
Only one small thing though, sad to think that all that science, physics, yet they still can't help someone get out of a wheelchair.....and wasn't Capt. Pike scarred from burns in the tv series? Not sure, but seems that way....
Everyone, go see it, even if you don't know the original series, you will enjoy it.

Movie was good. Capt. Kirk was upstage by Spock and Bones. The movie could have been more action pack. I like to see a better sequel. The continuity was lost in this movie with a different alternate universe.

I am not a "trekkie" but this movie was excellent! They took a story and made you feel it, and I adored their spin on Spock! I never knew who his love interest was! Good story, lots of action and fun to watch!

I have been a fan of the Star Trek "world" since the TV show originally premiered. I am not a hard core Trekker, but have always loved the show. During all of the new TV series I was elated (not so much w/ DS9) at the quality of the writing and plots. The movies were a "hit and miss", with some being classics, and others just so-so. This is NOT the case for the newest film, in my opinion. Action is non-stop, humor is sprinkled through out, story line very good, and acting top notch! I can't wait for a sequel! Live long and prosper, Star Trek! Gene Roddedberry had no idea what he created!

Best movie I have seen in a long time. Special Effects were great! I liked the jokes and references to the TV show but you did not have to watch the TV show to understand the movie. All star cast. Looks like the start of another long run for the Star Trek fans.

This is a fantastic movie ! I'm a fan of Star Trek since forever.... I agree with critics when they said that the whole thing has lost its shine in the last years... but JJ Abrahms and the writers made something amazing...it is everything in there... Kirk, Spock and Bones relationship, more lines to Uhura (Zoe Saldana) is justa amazing and a story that really fits into Star Trek ...it is the best reboot I have seen... all the actors, all the team needs to be congratulated... You are going to have fun... lots of.. being a fan or not !!

I'd like to say how suprised I was at how the story unfolded. Nothing short of original....made me rethink the entire Star Trek series. People are still talking about it. Characters were believeable, likeable (even Nero). The storyline had a nice flow to it.

Terrific plot -- true to the original and yet not cheesy. Characters truly seemed to be younger versions of the originals. Perfect casting, great special effects, intriguing plot and funny to boot. Everything you can ask for in a film. You'll walk out smiling.

Excellent casting, smart, funny, emotionally compelling characterizations and dialogue. visually arresting, great performances, tight thoughtful, restrained editing, a wonderful way of allowing for openended creativity while remaining true to the spirit and even detail of the original, and opening new elements in the spectrum of character possibilites of the cast. Chris Pine - I don't know who this kid even is, but he nailed this. I loved this movie, but if you don't like or know trek, you'll love this movie. Not just best of the summer, among the years top 10, I'll bet

Whether or not you're already a Star Trek fan, you'll love this movie. Cast is great, plot is well thought out and faithful to the series, lots of action and the special effects add to the show but aren't the whole show (a plus in my book!) It's a big screen experience, so be sure to enjoy it while it's in the theaters. I highly recommend this one. Hope there will be sequels!

Loved it. How the main characters were brought together and a glimpse of their lives was perfect. I would've loved for Scotty to have had more screen time as he was so comical, but I'm hoping his time will come in future sequels. Kudos to all the actors. Leaves you wanting more.

This movie is in the category of Lord of the Rings. It is the way George Lucas should have done the prequals for Star Wars.
The casting, directing, character development, acting and special effects were very well executed. A very tight piece of work.
I haven't seen a movie that was this good in since the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

This movie was just absolutely amazing in my opinion. It was action packed pretty much from start to finish. I was never a huge star trek fan of the old series and movies but this one totally changed that.
Easily the best movie of the year so far I would recommend this movie to anyone and everyone actually going to go see it this weekend again in IMAX.

The "odd-numbered" Star Trek curse has finally been lifted. This Star Trek is hands down the best one ever. There are still some corny lines, but all the actors did a great job capturing the essence of the original crew. The time travel aspect was weird, but I'm guessing the writers did that to set up for future ST movies so that die hard trekkies would not complain about plot inconsistencies in the future.
I've talked to people who had never seen ST before and loved it, so I think it has broad appeal. You definitely don't have to know anything about the series to enjoy it, though it might be worth watching ST II: The Wrath of Khan to appreciate some references made in this movie.
Definitely a must see for any action movie fans!

Star Trek rebounds from the morass of old-trek-drek with a fondness for new champions, friends rediscovered, and an urgent desire for more. They melded the mind of Roddenberry into what possibly the great master would have done with 600 animators from ILM, DDomain, and others.
I SWEAR to you this restores the fun, deepens the conflict, frees them from Vulcan nannying, and puts to death the ridiculous ethic that allowed an entire planet to lose atmosphere, while they moralized endlessly about how the natives had to follow their own evolutionary fate. Picard’s slavish love for the State was an embarrassment. Pine as Kirk has naught but disdain for authority, with a clean slate.
ST’09 will live long and be very prosperous.

I have been a Star Trek fan since it First came on televsion in the 1960's. This absolutely one of the VERY BEST Star Trek movies ever made.It was both fresh and felt famaliair-job well done Mr. Abrams. I can't wait till the next one comes out(soon I hope).

Thought this was a great movie. I'm a Trekker and loved the original series. It was great to see Kirk, Spock and McCoy get a new life. It answered alot of questions and made me look at Trek a new way. Can't wait for the sequel to this one!

This is probably one of the best Star Trek movies ever. Great special effects but the movie is not based on the special effects they just add value to a great cast that has breathed new life into the Star Trek realm. A definite must see in the theater, I might go see it again next week. lol
