This has to be one of the best Star Trek movies of all time! I've seen all the original ones with William Shatner as Kirk, along with a good portion of the original series. I was very impressed with how the new cast portrayed the personalities of the characters. Even a lot of the familiar catchphrases we all know were in there. The plot for the movie wasn't bad either, its definitely worth the money to see it once, and even a second time !

I was not completely disappointed, nor was I totally gaga about this film. It moved at a fast clip, it's slick and the effects were good. However, the plot device to put all these cadets and new Starfleet grads onto the Enterprise put a damper on things for me. Are we really to believe that there were no senior officers beyond Capt. Pike on the bridge of Enterprise? Everyone is fresh out of the academy, with only Spock seeming to have any seniority? Ridiculous!
Good performances and hooray for key Trek phrases ("Fascinating," "I'm a doctor, not a X," or "Are you out of your Vulcan mind?").
I could have waited 'til it came out on DVD - but it was a birthday night out for my husband, who really wanted to see it.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Star Trek was 2 hours of Han Solo as the captain of a Starfleet. It’s exactly what the new Star Wars movies have been missing. I’ve never been into Jedis and the Force, but scumbag cowboys that get down with princesses is my kind of thing, so Captain Kirk is cool in my book. As usual J.J. Abrams makes a somewhat gritty movie, allowing innocent women to die in horrible violent deaths, without compromising the charm of a good classic Hollywood movie. He’s got the formula down, he has style, and he’s unpredictable enough to use his talent on a Sci Fi cult series.

I grew up watching the original Star Trek & loved the backround info on all the crew. The attention to detail really shined through, each crew members quirks & core personalities were very well preserved.
The special effects were great!! I loved the movie but.. The relationship developing between Spock & Uhura was a bit out of character for both the original crew members

Excellent representation of the origins of Star Trek.
Great action and nice writing of an imaginitive story.
Only flaw, as a true trekkie, was the fact of Spock being too human, albeit it was his youth.
The jungle fever was very interesting and fresh and brought further character depth to Spock's role. Not only one world , one people but one universe one people is the very essence and meaning of the series and the original plan of God.

It's a great movie and I recommend it whole-heartedly. It does bother me just a little bit that a rogue mining ship can destroy a task force of Starfleet ships, but I suppose that's why we need James T. Kirk. I love the backstory on Bones. Not sure I like the new spin on Spock.
I went with some friends, we all agree that the movie seemed a lot longer than 2 houts. Not in a bad way -- none of us could come up with a place it dragged, but it subjectively felt as long as a Harry Potter flick.

WoW! Thank you for recreating a franchise by paying attention to the critical features that made Star Trek such a cult classic. The bad guys are BAD and the good guys are...well...lucky. I loved the homage to the guy that goes up in flames as the character on ST that could always get killed. Spock is HOT AND got the girl...excellent!

I thought the movie was very good, worthy of the Star Trek brand. However there were to many special affects. The special effects do not make the movie, the plot and substance do. You can definately start to see how the the 3 Amigos started to form their lasting friendship, consequently it makes you think of your best friends.
The movie is second only to Khan in the Enterprise franchise.

Great movie for the "trekkie" like me and the newbie. You definately want to see this on a BIG SCREEN so don't miss it. I think the team did a wonderful job with the story and the intertwining with old canon. Some of the die hards will give it a red shirt butthis movie is why I wish Abrams had been allowed to keep the helm of Enterprise for a full season.

I am married to a Trekkie, so I've seen them all. This was by far my favorite of the bunch. I recommend this to everyone, as it is a movie for everyone. Drama, comedy, suspense and adventure. I really do love this movie and I left the theater wishing that this new cast would have their own ST show. A not to miss summer blockbuster!

I was a big fan when Star Trek was on TV so I don't know if that makes a difference. I really loved Star Trek the movie. It wasn't just a bunch of special effects--it was a great story with great characters. It was fun watching how it all began.

AT first like so many I was skeptical of this film because Hollywood rarely gets it right when it comes to remaking classics. This is NOT the case with this film; JJ Abrams did an awesome job with the film. I saw "Star Trek" as though it was my very first time experience with the title. The story is cool, the timeline injection with Mr. Spock of the future did not make this film corny in any way, if anything is added to the story's plot is a positive way.
The story, the action, the humor is all worth it. Come on and beam aboard the Starship Enterprise for the ride of your life.

From the second the movie started it was moving. There was not one second of the movie that I would change, I was not bored for a second. I liked seeing the back ground story of the old favorites like spock, scotty and Kirk.

Really liked it. McCoy (Bones) was great. Good mix of actors. Worked well together like the old team. Very innovative how they pulled them all into the Enterprise. Overall thought it was a big thumbs up. Yay.

This was one of the best Star Trek movies since Search for Spock. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Someone mentioned in one of their reviews that Kirk was reckless and Spock was too emotional. Kirk was always a reckless individual. And if you ever saw some of the earlier episodes with Spock ... he was emotional see the original pilot episode for Star Trek

I'm not a Trekie but did watch each and every original Star Trek episode and all the Movies. I must say the characters casted for this movie were spot on! The movie was simply five-star all around. This was the best Star Trek film ever and I highly recommend it to all.
