It was alot of fun. I thought Robert Downey Jr did a great job with the character, and all the little nods to the comic history were great. Overall a great job, ranks right up there with the Spidey series!

'Iron Man' is another Marvel cash-in summer blockbuster. Like Spider-Man before it, 'Iron Man' takes a Marvel superhero and modernizes its origin story to suit today's fickle audiences (as you probably have guessed by the classic superhero movie title: _____ Man)
Favreau (the director) is a funny guy. He uses so much humor in this movie, it became the funniest superhero movie ever made. Robert Downey Jr. rocks the house with his portrayal of Tony Stark (Iron Man's less metal alter ego), making feats of engineering entirely believable, and adding his classic laconic wit and style. Gwyneth Paltrow and Downey's chemistry was so THERE, you could almost taste it. Paltrow's Potts was a warm, instantly likable character, while Jeff Bridges was exactly the opposite. (If you are familiar with Bridges' previous work, it should come as no surprise that he played his part straight, but great.)
On the other hand, what stops 'Iron Man' from being THE film of the summer (Wall-E or Dark Knight will probably take that one home) is the classic pitfall of superhero films; the pacing is a bit slow because we have the origin story and THEN the first "bad guy" rises and needs to be taken down. It affects the pacing by slowing down the beginning of the movie. Favreau's liberal use of humor helps speed this up, but it doesn't eliminate the problem. (Iron Man 2 will not have to worry about this)
At only 2 hours and 6 minutes (compared to Transformers which clocked it at almost 2 hours and 30 minutes) 'Iron Man' is a gem of a summer blockbuster that will have the boys wanting to become rich engineer playboy superheroes, and leave the audience in awe. Go see this iron-clad film, and take the family.
P.S. Stay after the credits.

Very good movie. Some extremely funny parts, some very good drama, and a really good bad guy. Robert Downey Jr. and Gweyneth Paltrow did a great job. I don't like Jeff Bridges playing a bad guy, but he played it well. Kind of a long movie, but I'm not sure where you could cut it without hurting the story.

I just saw Iron man last night and I have to say it was by far the best superhero movie marvel has made yet. The Xmen movies comes somewhat close, as does Superman, but not nearly close enough. Even if you're not a comic book geek or fan of marvel, anyone who likes action will love this movie.

This was an excellent movie for young or old. It was very well directed and had a great story line. It was longer than most but I did not even look at my watch once.I was glad to see Robert Downey Jr. back on the screen and what a wonderful job he did. I will definately buy it when it comes out on DVD.

The movie was a joy, especially Downey's performance. He really is the finest actor of his generation. You can't take your eyes off of him when he's on screen - and he's on screen almost all the time. Pretty much everything works - the acting, the effects, the screenplay. There is one scene in which the Downey character has his epiphany which rings false and you can detect the rewrite gang, but it's mercifully short. There's a franchise here if they want it.

I saw this movie yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. Jeff Bridges is a great villain and Robert Downey Jr is awesome as Ironman. The special effects are not cheesy and over done as in many other comic book derived films.

The film is interestingly fun, and full of laughs and killer effects, and sight gags as Tony Stark develops his flying suit. The final builds up to a showdown w/ his business partner using his own early suit designs w/ modifications and his update power source ripping from his chest. Tony battles against failing power reserves, and succeeds in destroying his enemy w/ the help of Pepper Potts. Robert Downey Jr. was abosoutely perfect for the role and marvel hit this flim way out of the ballpark for beings it was their own studio. This film never dissapoints the audience with wow and laughter. I will get this film on dvd(not Bluray) when it comes out! Can't wait to view bonus material! Well done Stan Lee!

I really enjoyed Ironman! Robert Downey Jr. was made for this role! His dryness and wit is exceptional but more importantly, he can pull it off!! The effects were consistently good. Though the move was filled with loads of missiles, rockets and bombs, the one bomb that wasn't used, was the f-bomb so the whole family could enjoy this movie together.

There wasn't one minute throughout the 2 hours and 6 minutes that myself, my wife and my 9 year old were not kept fully focused on the movie. Excellent special effects and plenty of "cheering for the good guys" in this one. The humor was great as well. Can't wait to see it again!

Awesome!!!! The special effects were out of this world, so much so that you didn't even realize you were seeing special effects. The plot lines were good, it was action packed, suspenseful, drama with a splash of comedy thrown in for good measure. It is good for both kids and adults alike. Oh, and make sure you stay around after the credits, there is a small scene that I have just one word for...FURY! If you are a comic book fan, you will know what I am talking about. Go see IRON MAN!!!!!

The movie was good. Alot of action and laughs at points from Downey. However, I would not bring a younger child to this movie. i DID bring my 7 year old after reading a review that had said they give it a range of 7 and up. however after the first 10-15 minutes of humvees getting blownup and terrrorists
getting ready to torture a victim, my wife pulled her out. It is a good movie and hopefully in the 2nd they will make an even better one. I still think that Spiderman is better and even the last Batman. It is still a good movie to go see in the theater though.

This is by far the most engaging of the Marvel franchise films. Pefectly cast (how did they afford it?) and except for a banal performance by Jeff Bridges, they all delivered. Go see it. It's way cool.

I was anxiously anticipating this film ever since the first trailer was posted online. The biggest challenge with these comic book-based films is satisfying both the devoted fans of the comics and those who've never cracked open a comic book in their lives. I can honestly say that this film meets and exceeds that requirement.
Robert Downey, Jr. was perfectly cast as Tony Stark because both characters are brilliant men who've struggled with substance abuse. He kept me rolling in my seat with laughter, and when I wasn't laughing I was engrossed in the action sequences, superbly enhanced by George Lucas' special effects company, Industrial Lights & Magic.
I'd recommend this film to all. Oh, and make sure that you wait through the credits for the short clip that plays afterward. I smell a sequel!

My 6 year old son is a Marvel Fanatic so when we saw that this movie was coming out, the countdown to the Movie Release Date began.
Even though my sole intention of going was just to make my son happy, I truely enjoyed this film from beginning to end.

Although this movie is slightly over 2 hours, it's hardly noticeable since it keeps the audience engaged. It has some great effects, as might be expected, but ILM always comes through in providing astonishing work.
The mix of drama, action, and humor was balanced and there was good character development with Tony Stark and other key players. I have to say this is the first time I've seen Jeff Bridges play this kind of role and he did a great job. If there is any hesitation you might have in seeing Robert Downey, Jr. play lead - give it up, because he nailed the role. Look for Stan Lee to make his usual cameo appearance, which is always fun.
This movie is engaging, visually appealing, and flat out enjoyable. Go see it. And when you do, sit through the credits all the way.

The first two hours of this movie was terrific -- great special effects and a pretty good story. The last three minutes of the movie (the part just before the credits) was ridiculous. It was unrealistic and not in keeping with the comic book story.
For anyone who has seen the movie, can anyone disagree that Tony Stark painted a target on his back? Did he really need to answer the last reporter's question?
Unless they do an amazing "about face" inf there is a sequel, I don't think there will be much additional life in this series.
