At first I had my doubts...casting Robert Downey, Jr as a hero? But he plays it to perfection!
I didn't know a lot about Iron Man before I went to the theater but I followed the story with no problem. This is a great story and the effects are absolutely outrageous.
You HAVE to see this movie!!!

Excellent initial offering from Marvel Studios. We took the whole family; we all loved it (even our youngest two were rapt, but some scenes were a bit scary).
True as possible to the comic books. Updated without losing the feel for the hero. Not one wasted scene. Better than any comic-based movie to date.
I cannot wait for the sequel and for an Avengers movie. Too bad we have to wait so long for more.

Having been a fan of the comic books going on a few years now, i have to say that i was impressed with this movie. I was expecting a VERY watered down Ironman without much inspiration in Suit design and a dumbed down technological feel to Tony's overall presence. I was wrong.
Both the suit and Tony as a whole delivered bang for buck and didn't let down the entire flick. Adi Granov's suit designs were also put to GREAT use. The acting was also top-notch. RDJ hit it on the head with the looks, sarcasm, inappropriateness, and flair that make Tony Stark so likeable.
Thank You Marvel for NOT screwing this up!

I thought this movie was excellent .From the get-go, you know you are in for a treat with that title, the Marvel producers and Terry Stark (Downey) - a weapons mogul. From the start, its a face-paced, well written story with tons of action, comedy and some of the best special effects I've seen in a while - not over the top but really effective.
This movie will appeal to even to everyone (over 13) as will Downey's character - which is very true to his real-life one - which makes him all the more fitting for this role.
This truely is the first blockbuster of the summer and lets hope its the first of many to come from the Marvel studios!

Smart, very well written, subtle, and very, very entertaining. Robert Downey Jr. was perfect as Tony Stark - I haven't seen casting like that since Christopher Reeves got to be Superman.
If you are any kind of Comic book fan then this movie is one that you SHOULDN'T miss.

I was highly skeptical when I first learned Robert Downey Jr was Iron Man. But he played the part fantastically! Not only was it action packed, it really emphasized Tony Stark's moral dilema and change of heart. I liked how there were hints of romance but the plot was not polluted with it. I also liked how the movie was not over done with digital effects. Most of it looked pretty authentic. All in all, this movie is a MUST SEE!!

The movie was full of action and a great story line however there is a lot of CGI and in some parts you can really tell it's fake. Also the very last line (ending) of the movie was a little cheesy. But overall it's a well written movie. If you liked Spiderman or other Marvel comics turn to movies like you will really like this one.

I went to this movie having never read the comic or seen a preview. I actually had no expectations for it what so ever but I was blown away. There were great action scenes with dry humor as well. Iron man was a good story with great special effects. Also I stayed for the post credits segment and was excited to think about the future of this genre.

I give it a four, but must have really liked it, because usually I hate comic book movies. Robert Downey Jr. was perfectly cast. He was smart, hot, and flawed. Loved the special effects. Much less cheesy than some others.Also, not as preachy as Spider Man, etc. It was good for the kids, but I would probably save it for the 9-10 and older crowd.

I haven't seen a really good comic movie in a long time. The dialogue in this movie alone was so fluid and intelligent that it almost seemed that Robert Downey, Jr. was improvising the whole time. I have to say he has not lost his comedic timing in the world of sarcasm and quick wit. Beside the 4" stilettos that Gwenyth Paltrow had to run in, she was fantastic! Her eyes are so expressive whether she's in love or scared, you are just right there with her all the way. I'll watch anything that she is in. And Jeff Bridges can never do any wrong. That man is so scary and intense that it's hard to believe that he was the Big Lebowski. He can do anything, I swear. Jon Favreau lucked out with this cast, but he has directing down to a fine art now. The fighting sequences, the cast direction, the character development, the movie is brilliant. The one thing I left the theater realizing though was that there is no real theme. The music was forgettable. It was probably just a cheap temp track. That's sad, but fixable...Anyways, go see it!

I was hesitant at first to see this movie. My assumption was it would be like other action films that try to seduce you with too much visual stimulation and the story line would be lost in the midst. However, this film had all the action where it was needed. The story line was simple and fun to follow. Everything about it was great with the expception for a few scenes that were staged for live theater. All the actors did an outstanding job in thier roles!
I would advise those parents who do not pay attention to the PG 13 rating to do so. There were many children in the audience who were under the age of 13. Parents beware that thier are pole dancing flight attendants and some of the violence was a little much for them to see.
Overall I like the movie very much. It will be a great DVD to put in the archives and see more than once. I look forward to the next chapter being made. Make sure to stay after the credits for a sneak preview of the upcoming continuation of this story!

We did the first showing matinee as my husband and children are major superhero fans. We thought it would be similar to the Transformers Movie and decided to give it a shot as the kids were good with that one. Anyhow, not so much...a little more graphic as far as the war scenes. They were dead on with the rating of PG-13. Away for that, the movie is awesome! Robert Downey Jr. does an incredible job as well as the others. Must see...just not for kids under 10.

Robert Downey Jr. delivers an excellent performance in making the character believable as a regular human being instead of just straight out of a comic book. He gives the character life without which the movie would have been nothing but 2 hours of high tech fantasy.
My whole family enjoyed the movie. Once the movie started, even the noisy loquacious chatter boxes sitting behind me shut up and remained silent until the end of the movie. It was that good.

I didn't expect to like the movie (I went for my husband) but it was really well done. For an action hero movie it had suprisingly good dialog. As a graphic artist I was really impressed with the fluidity and creativeness of the computer graphics. Pretty darn amazing! Robert Downey Jr. was excellent!

I came into the movie expecting alot. I have always enjoyed Iron Man as a superhero and the story behind Tony Stark. With that being said, I was somewhat skeptical when I saw the casting of Robert Downey Jr. as the lead character. Thoughts of "Less Than Zero" and "Chaplin" raced through my head. Don't get me wrong, both said movies are outstanding and his performance in both was outstanding, but super hero like? It took all of 5 minutes into the movie to squash this concern. He was excellent in the role and brought so much to the development of the character. Jeff Bridges was an effective villain also. Gwyneth P, played the assistant to Tony Stark role well also.
The effects of the movie were brilliant. The technology that surrounded Tony Stark was simply amazing. I found myself wishing I had all of it at my fingertips.
Overall, I hope this is a sign of things to come with summer superhero movies. Up next is the Hulk, then the biggie: Batman in June.

My family and I have been anxiously awaiting the release of this movie and the movie did not let us down! It was full of action and had some comedy parts to as well. Robert Downey, Jr played the character outstanding! I would highly recommend this movie to anyone interested!

I was excited by the trailers, extremely elated by the prospect of another Marvel movie, and overjoyed when I took part in it. The movie presented itself as action packed, and while there was enough action to whet the appetite of the action movie-goers, the movie still took adeqate time to build the storyline of the hero and unfold the conflict in a quality manner. Very good movie and I look forward to seeing more in the future!!! Ironman 2!!!

I thought this movie was funny and action pack. The special effects were awesome and actually believable. Robert Downey Jr. I felt was brillant andTerrence Horward was a good match to play opposite to Downey. Jeff Bridges was also good and I felt this was a different role for him, one I am not used to seeing him play but he did play it well. I particularly was happy with the ending and for those who seen the movie you know what I'm talking about....

The original story was adapted well and the visuals were wonderful!!
