For me, it was like watching a train wreck in slow motion- a wreck that commanded my attention with an amazing all star cast (a lot a lot of very funny people doing very very dry humor) and Matt Damon taking the lead as a big time bozo I loved to cringe, scream and laugh at all at once.

Even though this movie at times is very funny, it is not actually a comedy. It makes the FBI look like unbelievable idiots, but if you can stick with it, it will be well worth your time. Of course the trailer was projecting this as a comedy, it is, but it is very low key. Just in my taste. I really enjoyed it and reminds my about Catch me if you can. It is also a sad movie, but it's very subtle and I had a very good time for almost 2 hours. I will recommend this to my friends.

Despite a very brave and interesting performance by the ever surprising Matt Damon, this film is an odd failure. From the 70's music and fonts of the opening credit, you're expecting a period spoof, only to find the film is set in the early 90's. Not nearly as entertaining or endearing as Catch Me If You Can, and just plainly odd. I think Soderbergh fell in love with his character and thought that substituting a strong character would be enough to offset a story or a point of view. Too much Ocean's Eleven fake jovialness. Wait for the video, and then make sure you have a good bottle of wine. Maybe it'll make more sense then.

Very entertaining film. The cinematgraphy is wonderful in that it captures a certain feel. It is blurred like the line between truth and fiction. This is a comedy, but still manages to convict judgement on the guilty parties, and makes a definite moral statement about truth.

Extremely clever and very well-acted - the internal dialogue is well-written and had us laughing most of the movie. I laughed throughout this movie and a week later still think some of the jokes were very funny, but I have to say this is one of the slowest starting movies I've ever seen. This movie was intelligently written, humorous and entertaining. The acting was great. I don't understand at all the other review comments about it dragging on (it didn't). Perhaps some of the other reviewers are only interested in movies with special effects and the ability to entertain without much thinking involved. The Informant is a cleverly made character driven movie with the pacing and style of European cinema.
That said, it might be a little hard to digest for the average American movie-goer. But it sure is different than your typical run-of-the-mill Hollywood motion picture.
Matt Damon vividly portrays a complex character with real personal issues. I totally forgot the celebrity and was drawn into the white collar crime world of this quirky fellow.
This isn't "Borne Identity" but it IS a most unique film, proving Matt's versatility as an actor!

Not a movie for everyone. If you want to see Bourne Identity or Oceans Eleven, go rent them. If you want to learn and laugh at an intelligent movie, then pay attention. Excellent quirky movie. Not at all what I expected going into the movie but it turned out to be one that myself and my fiance enjoyed thoroughly. His little observations (polar bears, poisonous butterflies, etc) are hilarious and shed some light on how this character devised such a plan. I def recommend this and it's fitting in a time when big business is really in a negative light with the economic issues we're facing.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie was so boring. I kept waiting for it to get better, to be funny, or to at least be entertaining and it just never happened. After a little over an hour, I actually walked out of the movie. I can't remember the last movie I did that with. Doing nothing, was better than sitting through this movie.

This is just another case of the trailers being more funny than the movie. One would have thought this was a comedy by the trailers. I sure did get sucked in and then disappointed. The plot did get more interesting as the movie went on, but there were too many subordinate characters to keep track of.
