This is a strangely great film. The story, humor and everything else that is included is something very different. Great ensemble acting and Oscar worthy. I'm not sure this town would allow that but this film breaks a lot of new ground. Definitely go see it if it's around where you live.
Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace are great. The actors as an ensemble really do a fantastic job with this. Great science fiction as it should be. Good story behind it. Fassbinder plays his role with a sense of humor and Guy Pierce is almost invisible in his role. C. Theron has icy down and she does a great job with her character. The design and overall look and feel of the film is a tribute to H. G. Giger and his art. Very well done and go see it!
This was really a funny movie. Hardest I've laughed at a movie in a long time. I noticed a few of the jokes were not referenceable by the audience but hilarious. The ending was a little dragged out but otherwise very enjoyable. Go see it.
A beautiful little film about integrity and the salt of the earth. A young African boy escapes from the French immigration and finds shelter and aid from the poor working class in Normandie. A classic in the French style of sympathy and humor. Well worth seeing and a rocking performance by the famous French singer, Little Bob. Great stuff!
What a great film. If you love a tense, mature film, this is it. Great cast doing some of their best work and wonderful script to work with. 24 hours is what the film deals with. Wall street from an insiders perspective. This is one corporation that has been around over 100 years and deep on the hook for a lot of risky loans. Risk determines that the company owes a lot more than it is worth. The film is about how the company responds and the characters decisions on how it will handle this crisis. Great performances by Jeremy Irons as the company CEO, Kevin Spacey doing some of his best work ever, Paul Bettany and Stanley Tucci are brilliant as usual. Demi Moore and Simon Baker deserve accolades as well. Go see it!
Extremely entertaining. Kind of a Raiders of the Lost Arc for the Crouching Tiger group. High adventure and highly enjoyable. Sometimes a little cartoonish but well done and epic in scope. Go see it!
Subtle and lasting film. Michael Shannon plays his role with a intensity that is gripping and focused. Jessica Chastain plays a wonderful character that evolves to show a strength and commitment to her husband that is inspiring. The film moves slowly through the first half but really takes all the elements it has built and comes together. The family is the key element here and they are tested. Really a very beautiful film in it's insight into support and the strength that can come through love. The last scene is amazing and will stay with you.
Here's the quote from Huffington Post in a 4 star review from Hollywood.com.. "Instead of dissecting its flaws, just go with its purity so rare in today's cinema. Purity of images and of spirit." In other words don't think too much about this and eat your popcorn. Well, if you are one of those people then go for it. If you aren't - steer clear of this nonsense.
Not sure where to start with this. I was one of those people that was old enough to remember this type of segregation. Colored Bathrooms, Water Fountains and sides of town. I was really apprehensive that this movie would fall into the cliches from this time and all the white people would walk out out of the theatre thinking that they were talking about someone else - feeling very good about themself. Or - a White Man's Guilt type of movie. There were parts of that here but it the material was handled through a good heart and that was Skeeter. She struggles to find a guy that she can love. The result of that and the rest of the culture she has to deal with is solved by getting the hell out of there. Not before she makes an impact on those around her and discovers her strength in the process. Very good film and fun to watch.
This is an excellent movie. Really kind of a strange film. Story of some small time hoods during the 60's in Brighton and their struggles for power. Mix in a very strong, twisted love story and add a great cast, script and all elements. This all adds up to a really entertaining and under the radar film. Go see it, you won't be disappointed.
