An original atmosphere is created in "Pandorum". This is sometimes really cool, original and adds to the "crazy" plot line....while at other times it is too frenetic with some rather large plot holes. The acting gets an A+....as does the make-up effects, CGI and general effect of the mutated creatures aboard the ship. The movie is so dark, slimy and grimy that we all breathe a communal sigh of relief at the end....along with those shipmates that survive the journey. This SciFi flick is not for everybody. It does require a bit of patience and a dulled "gag reflex" ....but it has some original themes, some surprise twists & turns and a satisfying "surprise" ending that makes it worth the journey for those that like this kind of "tea". See it!
This movie could have really smoked but it mostly fizzled. Largely this is due to and under-developed plot. Some of the effects along with the basic premise are high SciFi and well-done. The 89 minutes and major plot flow just do not allow for a full course meal and that is what I was hoping for. In summary - This flick is just okay - and you should see it or rent it - but, dog-gone it, it could have been so much more. Interesting and disappointing - at the same time. Shucks!
....not great....but good. All of the actors do a good job and Aniston is impressive. I've never been a big Aniston fan but every time I see her I like her more....so I'm slowly becoming a big Aniston fan. The movie story line has holes in it (what doesn't these days?) but it was fun watching the interplay between the lead characters. Not your typical "date movie" as there is some heavy subject matter. The biggest negative is the two-dimensional plot lines which telegraph too much before we get to the "natural outcomes and rewards". See it in theater if possible and/or rent it if you miss the run.
There are some creative moments and unusual "demon" scenes in this movie which give it an original flair. In contrast there are so many plot holes and leaps of logic within the context of the story itself that detract from what could have been a high end horror movie. At times I thought the underlying premise was to get Megan Fox to talk dirty in as many ways as possible which implies that this is a turn-on. Not! If you are over 21 and can compartmentalize fairly well - good from bad - you should enjoy "Jennifer's Body" enough to see it in-theater or rent it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Do you have a thirst for original well-done films?
Then see "Thirst"! It is indeed well done. Very original as vampire movies go and holds one's attention throughout. Often thought-provoking and always keeping you on your toes ....TheMovieRhino can only find two negatives to levy against the movie. 1) It's just too long (133 minutes) and it does not need to be. Sometimes the director just spends too much time "under-lining" his point - as if he is afraid we won't get it. 2) The branching the movie takes at various times goes a bit too far off the main path and dilutes what should be the "heart & blood" of the movie .... the struggle of the priest turned vampire. Worth seeing in theater and you may find my criticisms a bit "nit-picky". See it!
Quirky movie with multiple dimensions well-told and even better acted - based on a true story. I giggled and laughed all the way through this movie. In some ways it reminded me of the TV show "The Office" only without the wink & nod aspect you get when the characters look into the camera because you are "in on it" with them. Matt Damon displays his range ....from his action Bourne roles to this true story comedy. May well be the best acting he has ever done! Kudos to everyone ....but especially Matt Damon! Well done sir! You should be in contention for a Best Actor nomination. Let's see if the Academy gets it right.....
9 gets high marks for it's originality and animation! It is graphically delicious. The weakness comes from it's spiritualization of science. It just seems a bit goofy to my Christian sensibilities that a scientist is working at creating mechanical life forms and "spirit-filled animated sock monkeys". Actually - more than a bit goofy. Cute though. At the very end I was thinking about a world full of wet, rusting metal and soggy, animated burlap-beings. Not quite as cute and maybe a bit "stinky"? Worth a visit to the big screen though - to see some amazing animation!
What is Carrie Fischer thinking? What is anyone associated with this movie thinking? No shrieks from the audience watching this "horror movie" ....just lots of giggling and embarrassed twittering .....not good! We have all seen this movie many times before and often done better. I will give it 2 stars for the decent twist at the end and some of the acting. Not enough to see in a theater or for renting though. Let's not encourage studios and producers to keep making this schlock!
I have been anticipating this movie for at least a year. The actors, the environment and possible subject matter just seemed chemically matched to produce a great horror-suspense movie. The resulting meal is a "McDonald's cheeseburger (single patty even)" rather than the gourmet feast I was expecting. It rises above 1 star only because of the excellent special effects work displaying the frigid weather of the south pole! The weather special effects and outside environment cinematography was top notch ..... and everything else a contrasting big let down. Stay warm, hold on to your hard-earned buckeroos and skip WhiteOut.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

An adult comedy that is pitch perfect! Refreshing!
Renee Zellweger is in top form here. Once again demonstrating her range and effective style. Drama, comedy, musical, farce....what can't she do? Kudos to all of the actors, writer Peters, director Loncraine ... as well as the cinematographers, editors, costume designers and set producers! Pitch perfect throughout this movie is one of my favorites in 2009. May not end up in TheMovieRhino's Top 10 but it has a virtual lock for 2009 Top 20 status! If you are over 18 don't miss it in theater. The larger venue will capture the excellent period work and display it as it is meant to be seen. Splediforous!
