We were near the front of the lineup before going into the theatre. This week's all-day pass had better collectible quality - it was laminated. I don't think the theatre sold-out this year, even though people had the chance to buy single-movie tickets on day of event. I know there's 10 Best Pictures, but here are my top 5 picks for last year's Best Picture crop:
1) District 9; 2) Precious; 3) Hurt Locker; 4) Blind Side; and 5) Up;
AMC Theatres needs to allow its' FaceBook and MovieWatcher fans to be able to purchase their all-day passes for the same price as if they were go to the box office. There was a lot of criticism about AMC "no outside food/beverage" policy which may have turned people off from spending the day at the showcase.
There were some major snafus with AMC's "on again" and "off again" scheduling for the picture showcase at theatres because they didn't have enough movie prints to go around.
See you at next year's Best Picture Showcase on February 19 and 26, 2011.

The perfect opportunity to play catch-up as well as to prepare for the Big NIght - and a great value to boot! I really hope that they decide to do this again next year.

I've attended every year that AMC has offered this & I love it every time.
My only complaint - those that bought a ticket for a single movie did not seem to know that most of the audience was there for the entire day. So they came in talking, expecting previews and just knowing that people would quickly move for them. We were warned that some would come in for just one movie, but they should have been warned, too.

This is only my second year coming to the showcase, but I can say without a doubt that I will be back again next year. It's not easy for me to get to though. I had to drive down from Jacksonville to see it because the AMC near me wouldn't play it this year. I did see that plenty of other theaters have it though. I would suggest that if you haven't been to a showcase, go. You won't regret it.

This was my 4th year going to the showcase, but my first time at the Tustin 14. There was a LOT of room for improvement. In the bathroom, 4 of the 8 sinks were out of order. They didn't turn the lights on between the movies, and people were bumping in to each other trying to get in and out of the theater between films. We watched the credits of every movie except the one that had info and an extra scene (The Blind Side) they shut that one off right when the first sentence came on. They replayed it before the next film, but still managed to cut off a bigportion that we missed. Aside from that, it was a delightful way to spend a rainy Saturday and get caught up before the Academy Awards.

Last year was the first time i did the marathon and I went by myself. This year I brought three friends and they all loved it--we even (mostly) agreed on our favorite movie--Inglorious Basterds. The theatre got one of the starting times wrong and started fifteen minutes earlier so even though most of us were there in time they gave out a free movie pass to everyone--nice! Thanks AMC! See you next year!

My friends and I have been to every Showcase since they began. We love it. It's like a mini-vacation with no demands and nothing to do but watch good movies all day. Staff and patrons are all friendly and courteous. We went on the second day because the first week conflicted with other commitments. We seriously considered doing the 10-movie marathon in Chicago, but it sold out. In retrospect, sitting elbow to elbow with a theatre full of people for 24 hours would've been excessive. We like to bring pillows and blankets and make ourselves at home! One of our group even brought her knitting for between-show breaks! Great Fun! We hope to do it every year!

I attended both Saturday Showcase screenings. The staff were organized, helpful and so courteous. The event was smooth and no hassle. Loved being able to see all 10 best picture nominees with no stress before the Oscars. Free popcorn all day, just save the first bag to reuse... a respectful crowd and great great help from the staff.. especially from Kelly at AMC 6 in Burbank..
