At first I thought...Vikings? Dragons? Not my cup of tea but they hook you in to care and root for these characters.
Also, you actually feel like you're flying, you feel vertigo when looking down and some scenes look like it was actually shot live action. Amazing. Visual effects blew me away.
Dreamworkss is giving Pixar a run for their money. First Kung Fu Panda and now How To Train Your Dragon? Animation is really stepping up their game.

I had pretty low expectations when I heard about the movie because, well, it's Dreamworks, not Pixar. But my friends recommended it, and I was literally blown away. The commercials made it look so little kiddish, but I'm 17 and I LOVE this movie and I've since gone back to see it again and trying to go a 3rd time. It's not only completely adorable, but it also has a great story and characters, the music is amazing, and the ending is so thrilling and (I hope I don't spoil anything) actually pretty scary. There was so much heart in this movie I seriously thought I was watching Pixar. Plus, the flying scenes are incredible.

This was the first movie my husband and I have taken our child to see and it really kept her attention. This was a very entertaining, and first "G" rating-like movie I have seen for kids in quite some time that was also enjoyable for adults. I would highly recommend this movie.

I took my 3 daughters, ages 3-9 to see this yesterday and we all loved it! Without giving too much away, I loved the ending. It wasn't a fairytale picture perfect ending, it had some depth to it, but was still happy. The voices were great, the messages were good. We just really enjoyed the whole thing!

It is difficult to find a movie for kids between the ages of 12-6. How to Train your Dragon was a perfect fit for them all! The kids rated it an "A" and said they will certainly purchase it when it comes out in DVD. Sure was a long time since I heard the audience applaud at the end of a movie, but they did at this one. Have already recommended it to my sister in law for her granddaughter.

What a great movie! It has action, cute characters and dragons, and Gerard Butler's beautiful voice! I will go see it again, love the little dragon - Toothless. My 5 and 3 yr old kids enjoyed it.while we (parents) found it engaging (not like some other kids shows--Alvin and chipmunks).
Animation was great and action sequence was thrilling. On a philosophical note good movie for both parties (kids and parents ) to see together and perhaps discuss the lessons.

This was simply a funny, action filled, entertaining movie. Its appropriate for kids, my 4 year old loved it, though there are some scary bits particularly in 3D for the very youngest of the audience. I took my 3 year old daughter to see this movie. She usually gets scared when there are loud parts to a movie but she laughed and enjoyed this movie immensely. All the way home she talked about the dragons in the movie. Animation was excellent as was the story line. Definitely Reccomend!

How to Train Your Dragon was very entertaining for this adult reviewer. The animation and sound track were first rate, as were the actual character depictions. Interesting story line, well executed. Lots of laughs for adults, an interesting parent/child relationship, and all in all, a very enjoyable film. I particularly liked the implied social messages of breaking stereotypes and admitting ones mistakes.

This was a terrific movie, we are going again, this time when my husband can go. Great story, touching, funny, we had to go right out and find the Night Fury action figure for my son. I have seen enough BAD cheesy kid movies, and this one was fantastic, which seems to be rare these days. Definate must see!

This is a great movie for adults and children both. Delivers a wonderful lesson for children but has enough action so it doesn't loose their attention. The humor for the adults is great too!

I was not sure that I wanted to go to this film because most Movies like this are cute but predictable, but not the case. I was very pleased with the film and was glad to see that it had a good story line and a plot. Most films of this nature get lost in the technical and animated features& they lose the most important aspect & that is the story. If you get the chance go see it, it is well put together and alot of fun to watch.
