My tween-age daughters loved the show and the small children in front of us laughed infectiously on many scenes. My wife and I thorough enjoyed it too. There are plenty of whimsical or just plain ridiculous scenes that entertain small kids. And the underlying theme is superb for all. The five lessons of Nanny McPhee: 1) No fighting 2) Share 3) Work together 4) Have courage 5) Have faith Maggie Gyllenhaal and the children were a great, crazy team. Emma Thompson was nearly over the top on a few occasions but yet understated. Lynn Redgrave -- a hilarious treat.

Absolutely wonderful movie!! A tad bit more sad that the original but a happy kind of sad. Different enough from the original to stand on it's own and does a wonderful job of doing so. Our girls (11, 6, 4) loved it!

We did not see the first Nanny movie. With that said, what a great surprise! The movie was simple enough for my 3 year old and kept the 6 year old very entertained. The lessons are classic and a breathe of fresh air with today's style of entertainment. Emma Thompson did a wonderful thing with this movie.

When my kids said they wanted to see this film, I was a bit hesitant only because sequels typically dissapoint. This one did not. Stylistically reminded me of Mary Poppins. Emma Thompson is genius!

I was amazed at how compelling this movie really is...it has a fully developed storyline, a plot that speaks to both kids and adults, great acting, a lot of humor, wonderful "animation," and is just a great "feel good" story without becoming sappy. It is a movie that an adult can take a child to and actually enjoy immensely. It teaches so many lessons about life as well. I highly, highly recommend it.

Nanny McPhee Returns and it is all in good fun as lessons are learned with a little Nanny-magic and natural consequences. This family, child-oriented, comedy is a worthy sequel to the first film. McPhee appears just in time as a family appears to be on the verge of being swallowed up by rebellious children acting out, an unscrupulous uncle, debt that cannot be repaid and oceans of "mud and poo". Children in the theater laughed at the appropriate times all throughout the movie and adults will enjoy the film almost as much as watching their kids enjoy it!

Love Nanny McPhee.
More of Nanny McPhee's 'humanity' was visible in this movie (and I hope there are more Nanny movies). Nanny's consternation at bird's behavior and being able to continue loving it but having to get over the bad behavior was great; ; giving a 'hint' to the soldier about helping eat his broccoli; allowing the children to take a minute of control of the cane; all added some life lessons that are important. Not just an 'army nanny' but an army nanny with a heart.
Cast was excellent. The 'character' of Phil was not quite as funny as the 'bad guy/lady' in the first. I love the actor that played Phil. He has a wonderfully expressive face and body language. Maybe Phil was meant to be stupid and not evil - but somehow to me he fell so in-between that I almost felt he was 'separate' from the story -- hmmmm.
Will see the movie again - will purchase it when it comes out.

We took our 8 & 11 year olds and they loved it.
We grownups liked it, but found it unevenly paced and many of the scenes in the beginning to be flat and unengaging.
I think it was the director's problem, because it is a great script and all the performers are wonderful.
It has a wonderful, tearful happy ending and is well worth taking the family to.
