With all the hype about Avatar, I was thinking that it might not be able to live up to the expectations I had. However, by the end of the movie I was sorry to leave the world that we had been transported to. Besides the beauty of the computer generated world in 3D (which is the way I feel you must see this move), its story transforms your consciousness to that of an alien race and makes you feel that you would like to be one of "them" and live in their world. The ability of a movie to achieve that type of effect in so short a time speaks to the creativity involved in the creation of this revolutionary film. This is going to be a classic and is something you are going to want to see again.

Avatar is the best movie I've seen in my 42 years on this planet. I've tried to think of a better movie than Avatar and cannot come up with one. The only movie that stands a chance is Lord of the Rings but it's not fair to compare the two because Lord of the Rings is a trilogy. I went into the theatre expecting to be blown away, and I was -- by the colors and scenery. Trouble is, I'm not a 'computer graphics' fan. I don't like anime or cartoon movies. This reminded me of those. Story line was one done 100 times (think District 9, which I loved). Actors were all very good. Colors beautiful. 3D gave me a headache as did the crying baby in the theatre. Yes, go see it. It's good, but I prefer more "real" movies.

This is a very straightforward movie but it's a great one. I saw it in 3D but I think it would have been just as great in a normal theatre. The movie I would most compare this to is Jurassic Park, it has that kind of feel. And, yes, the special effects are amazing!

I have seen this movie twice. 1st on regular screen 3D and 2nd on an ultrascreen 2D. 3D is superior but the ultrascreen was also great. I must say, I first went into this movie blind. i knew from others that it was a "great movie!". So I saw it in IMAX and naturally went to the theater with an open mind and high expectations. I was completely and utterly floored. The CG is flawless, and the actors were brilliant and captured every detail. The dialouge at times was slightly dorky, but it was very true to life. The entire movie I found myself being lost in the very relatable story and the magic of the scenery. And the 3-D made it feel so real I caught myself a few times thinking about jumping up into the screen to try and help during the battle sequences. This movie deserves the extra money to be seen in all its 3-D glory on the big screen. (IMAX is even better!)

Avatar 3D is like no movie ever created. It's easy to forget that the world that is Pandora is not real. The imagery will leave you temporarily stunned when you step back into the real world. There were applauses after the show and nearly zero chitter chatter that often plague long and slow movies. Avatar is anything but slow and the length is fitting for the films completion.

only way i can describe this movie. granted there are predictable plot points, but after 25 years of movies i'm not surprised.
you dont need to see it in 3D, there are a few scenes where it comes into play

Good story, strong characters, and an incredible experience. The message it sends is not new, but it does it justice.This will be a cult classic Sci-fi film.

I experienced true movie magic when I saw this film. It takes you through this adventure across a world that instantly feels real to you. A few critics will harp that the plot and dialogue are formulaic, but they said the same thing about Star Wars; no one can argue about that movie changing our theater-going experiences thus far. I was drawn into the characters and their struggle because Avatar makes you empathize and care about these aliens. Don't get me started on the visual effects which I have never seen before in a 3-D movie. Everything looked real, not computer-generated realism, and that's what I believe draws you into the movie so quickly.
