From the moment I saw the station orbiting Pandora I knew this movie was going to be a visual treat. I wasn’t quite prepared for the stunning beauty and emotional draw that pulled me full-force into this amazing epic. There were several times I found myself smiling and tapping my toes in giddy anticipation. From beginning to end I was captured by this masterpiece. 2D vs 3D… easy… 3D. I was thoroughly impressed and in awe of the quality of visual effects. I want to explore this world again in a sequel. Not once did I look at the time, because I was so immersed in the environment, action and simple story. Characters were cast well and I especially loved and hated the Marine Col.
What I enjoyed most was seeing this world through the eyes of Jake Sully, the strange yet recognizable creatures and fauna were majestic, magical, menacing and memorable.
But stop wasting your time reading reviews and go see it already!

The story may have been told many times over the generations, but JC made the story look fresh and stirred emotion and at the same time you forgot you were looking at CGI, but into another world you wished you were a part of. I saw this in both types of 3D, and I think due to projectionist issues, it was fuzzy both times. Being a high end Blu-Ray HT owner, I know a good image...and can't wait to see this in crystal clear clarity so I can be taken away into this world over and over...

It was pretty Ok - Age Old Story told over and over again. Sitting there I kept thinking of Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Brave Heart - the history of Native Americans and the African Diamond Mines, and horrible loss of Forests in South America. 3D unremarkable, not worth the extra $$$ - take lessons from Disneyland...
While I would recommend this to a friend - I would tell them what I thought of it so they could decide whether or not to pay extra for 3D or wait for the DVD.

As all have stated time and time again, see this movie in 3D. It was fabulous! The special effects, costuming and make-up is what make this movie so very special. This is what made the almost 3 hours worth sitting through. If this was the only criteria I would give it a strong 5 stars. Alas, there is the storyline which was boring and very predictalbe. -Although the story line might be a bit cliche if not overdone, the plot is presented in a way that makes it seem completely fresh and new.
-The quality of the Computer Generated Imaging mixed with 3D technology completely immerses you into the universe making it much more captivating than similar movies. All of the animation as well as the main character development is fluid enough to make you believe everything that's happening.
-Although it would have been interesting to incorporate some morally gray areas into the "good guys" "bad guys" aspect of the plot, this movie is as giant as the trees of Pandora in a forest of mediocre films. Romantics and skeptics alike will find something to love about this movie.

This movie is truly one of a kind. It kinda reminded me of the Native American's experience. The only thing that would have made this movie better would have been for me to see it at an IMAX theatre, but they were sold out. The movie content, which was really thought-provoking, along with the 3D experience was so good that I didn't even feel like I'd sat through a 2hr, 40minute film. It was great!!!

Avatar is a movie that in the future, we will look back at to separate movies pre-Avatar and post-Avatar. The graphics are incredible and MUST be seen in 3D. If you have not seen this movie in 3D, you have not seen Avatar. 3D is part of this movie unlike other 3D movies I have seen in the past where the 3D action are like bit gags just to say that the movie is 3D. I actually liked the story line and thought that the acting was good I have seen Avatar in IMAX 3D and digital 3D on a regular screen and I preferred the smaller screen so save yourself a few bucks and just see it in 3D at your local theater.

This movie was so beautiful in its portrayal of the native race of Pandora, it took my breath away. The acting was great, the CGI was so good it wasn't CGI; you absolutely could not tell. It was NOT secretly poking fingers at the current political landscape but of the classic, natural conflict that afflicts all races across time and countries. Graphics and sound were excellent as well as all the Animation of the Caricatures in the movie. This movie grabs at your heartstrings. I went into Avatar 3D expecting to be wowed by the 3D effects and had no real interest in the movie otherwise. My opinion was quickly refocused on the storyline. I am proud to say that this movie is a masterpiece. From it's beautiful, lush, mystical landscapes to it's in-depth characters and creatures, this movie surpassed all expectations. Were the technology available now, or ever in my lifetime, I would be envious of any who could experience that. This movie is highly recommendable, and if this isn't your cup of tea, I still recommend this simply for it's immersive 3D experience. You will leave raving about Avatar 3D.

I would like to say this movie is better in it's time than Star Wars but it's not. It is a good movie but the character switches were a bit hard to follow in the beginning. I finally got into it and the at the end it was hard to believe it had been almost 3 hrs.
I did like it and look forward to Avatar 2 and whatever follows after that.

The movie was fantastic, the 3D was just ok. It is a long movie so make sure you are prepared. One of the few movies that we really felt like it had to be seen on the big screen.
