This Movie is one of the best that I have seen in a long time. It is the first I have seen in Digital 3D, and I must say it blew me away. The depth the 3D adds to the movie just adds to the great story. You get so engrossed in the movie that you forget most the characters are CGI blue aliens.I did not move the whole 2hrs and 40min. the movie lasted. Great Job James Cameron and Crew! Thank you.

Avatar was fun to watch - not dark like most sci-fi movies. As fantastic as it was - it never looked fake. I highly recommend to see it in the big theater. However, the story was so ridiculously political it actually took away from the graphics at times. Story in a nutshell...US military and big corporations BAD, BAD, BAD. I was still rooting for the little guy but with a twinge of guilt.

But - oh that CGI - stunning visuals- just sit back and enjoy the breathtaking views.

The storyline is very predicatble, and while the graphics are good, the 3D quality was lacking. Avatar is "Dances with Wolves" meets "Star Wars; Episode 1". Don't get me wrong... I appreciate the imagination and creativity to create the environment, flora, fauna, etc... it was as if the deep sea environment was perfectly mixed with a tropical rain forest and all the mamals were hybrids of each other (horse meets aardvark). Over all, it was entertaining and interesting to look at... but not overly spectacular or mentally stimulating. Good try, James.

They did an amazing job on graphics, action & adventure. Most 2 1/2 hr movies are drawn out but this one was perfect; any longer would have been too long & any shorter would have been too short. The story put me on an emotional rollercoaster!! It is definitely a keeper to have in a movie collection.

I thought this movie was amazing. My husband saw it in 3d and regular and said that the 3d didn't really add anything and that the movements actually seemed a little slower in 3d.

The story, although entertaining, is a retread. The real star of Avatar is the 3D imagery. Cameron's use of 3D will change future movie making as this technology does for movies what HD and Blu ray did for TV. Once you've experienced it, settling for anything less is unthinkable.
See this movie in the theater! Even if they release the DVD in 3D, the small screen will not do this movie any justice.

I am not going to review the movie - it is great - dialog is perfect for what it is. I have seen it in Dolby 3D, IMAX 3D and Real 3D. Real 3D is a disappointment. Colors are muted and off, fast moving images were much more jerky. Images seemed to be cutoff (esp,. compared to IMAX). Movement is so bad to the point of almost being sickening. Not sure what the frame rates etc. differences are, but don't waste a first viewing with Real 3D.

I have been waiting for this movie to be released to see if it was worth all the hype. I had heard so much, that I could not believe it had any chance of living up to expectations, but it absolutely did. I thought the movie was great. The story was constantly developing though you always knew where the outcome was going to be.
My only issue is though 3D does enhance the picture and feel, I didn't think it was necessary. The movie was just as good without 3D.

I am rarely impressed by James Cameron's writing, as it is often full of cliches and shallow plots. In a way, this isn't much different, playing off a Pocahantas theme. But all of this is forgivable when seen as a retranslation of the New World with 3D effects. The parallels between the indigenous population and Native Americans are obvious, and, as most have probably already said, the 3D effects are breath-taking. One important theme in this movie is that of "seeing." In a way, we truly "see" this new world from the native's eyes because of the 3D effects. An incredible sight. This makes me wander how differently did (or do) Native Americans see the New World and does this movie show us the contrast in a new way through allegory?

I was initially nervous about this movie because of the cost of the special effects but my concerns were quickly allayed. This was an excellent story. George Lucas should take lessons on pairing great special effects with a great story. I was able to release myself into this movie while enjoying the 3D effects. There was acting going on in this movie. I loved how the real actors were paired with the computer graphics seamlessly. I would recommend this movie and will probably be going to see it again.

The best movie we have ever seen!!! Great plot, creative in nature, action packed, colorful, never a dull moment. The only down fall for us and I am sure others is it is long...deserving, but if you need to use the restroom...you can't go, for you would miss something! Movies this long need an intermission 1/2 way through, since the Theater promotes selling, popcorn and drinks...why put your guest through agony.

the glasses were annoying, the 3d with the glasses reduces sharpness of the video. The effect of the 3d was very good however, The balance of the story and the cinematography made the movie very engaging.
