This movie is AMAZING - I have yet to meet someone who didn't love it, or who didn't want to go back and see it again. I've already seen it twice and would love to go again. The story was a bit predictable, but not in a bad way. The effects were amazing and beautiful, and I found myself wishing I could move to Pandora! It's a great way to escape a hectic life. If you're at all interested in this movie, you HAVE to see it on the big screen and in 3D!

It is really a visually amazing movie. However the story is hackneyed and banal. Do all the military have to be pseudo-macho jerks? Do all the corporate have to be evil-greedy jerks?
I am sure that people will disagree with this. However, rather than getting sucked into a two-dimensional telling of an old story, why not look around and try to do something in real life to improve our military-industrial complex?
If you really buy into this story, tell your state and congress reps that you want better enforcement of regs of the financial system and healthcare and the environment!

First, I was very impressed with the computer technology that makes this "animation" so realistic in the expressions and movements of the N'avi characters. I almost believed that these were real beings. Second, the artwork in the world of Pandora was exceptionally creative and beautiful. I have never seen anything like this in a film. The story, though very engaging, was a bit predictable and some themes were trite, but it's a perfect story and message for children, if they can brave the parts that would be scary. I saw movie in 3D, and wonder if it wouldn't be just as impressive in 2D. 3D effects were not so obvious.

What an amazing experience! And I do mean "experience!" So much more than just a movie. I was transfixed and didn't mind the length of the movie at all. I'd like to go watch it again and again, to catch all the details I might have missed the first time around. The Navi were so expressive and sensual and real--didn't seem "animated" in any way, shape or form. And what soulful eyes! I was completely drawn in to their amazing, bright, sparkly, beautiful world. And the 3-D only served to enhance the experience. All this from someone who isn't much of a movie-goer IRL! Run. Now. This movie reminded me of the first time I saw Star Wars or King Kong on the big screen as a kid. It was an epic event - a change in the type of movies of the time.
I was genuinely surprised at the impact this movie had on me. It was interesting in both the graphics and scenery as well as the story line - think John Wayne western with good guys and bad guys - this is really no different. The audience even clapped for the good guys in the end!
I found myself forgetting that I was wearing 3D glasses and that the main characters were 10 ft tall blue creatures - the visual effects were stunning and so life like that you almost forgot you were at the movies.
This movie is pure entertainment - go see it, you won't regret it.

It really is! We left the theater feeling consumed, wanting to scream. We actually did when we got into the car. I am in my 50,s and thought that this type of movie would be boring. HOWEVER!!! The special effects left me just wanting more. The 3D experience was way too good for the old heart but needless to say this will go into my top 10 list of all time and number 1 for the imagination and special effects of Mr Cameron. Well done sir, I salute you.

Visually stunning, see it in 3D! However, there was no original story, the acting was phoned in (the Aussie star couldn't even keep his Yank accent together!) and it dragged. A story about the superiority of being peaceful with nature would be more effective if it wasn't so violent. Yawn.
