Long on Spectacle, Short on Characterization

A stunning visual spectacle. The richly realized alien landscapes will leave you slack-jawed with amazement. It's a pity that the characters are so shallow. If Cameron had invested as much time in creating fully-realized characters, "Avatar" would truly have been a masterpiece.

Wonderful Story, Spot-On Characterizations

My cousin and I went to see Star Trek in IMAX this past weekend. We are both lifelong Trek fans who went into this film with high expectations, and we were not disappointed. Messrs. Abrams, Orci, and Kurtzman have crafted a wonderful story that pays homage to Trek's past without being bound and gagged by it. The acting is uniformly superb, channeling the essence of the classic Trek characters without imitating the original actors. Highly recommended, both for Trek fans and non-Trek fans alike!
