This is the greatest movie made since the Wizard of Oz. The graphics were superb and at times you felt like you could reach out and touch the characters or scenery. The 3D effects put you right into the movie! Loved it and went to see it twice, which I haven't done in over 35 years.

Excellent movie! I usually don't like long, and unrealistic movies...this one really surprised me! The 3-D effects were great, the story was fanastic, and I got so wrapped up in the movie that I completely lost all sense of time. I would have never believed it, but even I give this one five stars!

It's like seeing Star Wars for the first time. The worst part of some epic blockbusters is their tendency to seem like the director lost control of the story at some point, and tried to compensate with bigger explosions (i.e. The Matrix sequels, The Star Wars prequels, Transformers etc.) whereas it's very obvious that James Cameron knew exactly what he was doing with this. Detractors are reading too much into the simple story, just enjoy the movie people! Some movies are meant to be experienced, not over-analyzed.

Don't get me wrong, this was a very good movie. Almost 3 hours and I didn't get up once to go to the bathroom or strecth or anything. Although I agreed with the sentiment of the story line, it was a LITTLE bit preachy. I think every generation needs a film like this though, to remind us of certain rights and wrongs. Special effects were excellent and it was visually beautiful!

Avatar 3D kept both my grandsons spell bound for the entire movie. They had already seen Avatar in the regular format. I was impressed with the progress in 3D that the film demonstrated. The story line left you wanting to see what happened after they got their planet back. This could be one of the few I actually buy.

This movie had been sold out every time I went to see it since it opened. So, I purchased advance tickets online. Even with doing this, the only open seats were the very front row (hate the front row). Nonetheless this movie completely blew me away. It was a very long movie, but I was so stunned by the 3D experience that the time flew past and I was wanting the movie to keep going. I typically get very disappointed with movies that get such rave reviews, but not this time. I would rank this film the best overall movie experience EVER. Seriously people, go see it in 3D on the big screen. You most certainly WIL NOT regret it.

Good that the movie showed how evil mining corporations bulldoze sites sacred to cultures they don't care about or understand (ref. Uranium extraction, oil drilling, Bhopal, etc.) Nice that the lead characters were allowed time to develop within and beyond the spectacular imagery. Unfortunate, violent battle full of Hollywood explosions, deaths and impalements - don't take any kids under 13 to see this movie. Zero tobacco would be allowed in space travel, so Sigourney Weaver's character puffing away was just ridiculous. 2D version reportedly better than 3D, because of brighter, clearer pictures, not having to wear glasses, and fewer distractions thrusting out of the screen.

When my son suggested we go to the Imax and see this movie, I was not looking forward to it. It may be a teenagers movie, but I felt that the previews were not portraying the type of movie I would enjoy. Boy was I wrong! Despite its futuristic theme (which seemed way out there for a 40+ woman), I enjoyed the storyline and the special effects. I did think the 3D was well done and not too obnoxious. Sigourney Weaver did something she's never done before and did it like the pro she is. Great job James Cameron and Jon Landau, you did good in my book.

I hadn't been terribly excited to see Avitar. However, considering advancements in 3D and sound, I was curious. My husband talked me into seeing this film. I was surprised by the crispness of the picture and the detail of the characters in the film. The plot of the film was interesting, but at times a little too hoaky, spiritually speaking -- very political. Overall, it was a great film. Very innovative, indeed. Quite a visual rollercoaster. I probably wouldn't have wanted to see the film without 3D. Sci-Fi is not my thing and I would have been bored.

I found the cinematography to be amazing and worth the time and extra money. The 3D effect was basically worthless and I could'nt read any of the subtitles. The backgrounds tended to be blurry as well. The plot was predictable and follows the same formula as every other love story and good triumphing over evil movie. What makes this worth seeing again and again is the extraordinary detail put in to it. The graphics are amazing and for the first time in a movie I actually felt as if I was on the planet with them. From texture in the trees to the rushing waterfalls, nothing was missed and kept me mesmerized for the entire movie. Kudos James Cameron!

Underneath the terrific 3-D effects and action galore, there is so much metaphysical information about the role energy plays in our lives. The characters are developed within a beautiful love story. Life is a continuation in all of its forms. Never count Mother Nature out. She will protect her own. I felt like the action was coming right at me. The wonderland of the forest tantalizes all of the senses. AMAZING, DAZZLING, SPECTACULAR!

The 3D didn't add a lot, but the scenery was amazing. Beautiful flora and creatures. Very well done. I went to see it a 2nd time.

omg the effects in this movie were SPECTACULAR, all the small details that were put into it can make you really appreciate that it was almost 3 hours long, 3 hourse of georgeous colors and creatures, the plot however, i think took too long of a time to get to the endscene. but watching the buetifulness of it was truly wonderful

Great Movie. Fantastic effects. Story plot was slow in the beginning, but definitely worth seeing! I would like to see it again, but in the IMAX. If you go to this movie, do the IMAX.
