Awesome 3-D, wonderful animations and very intense visual and sound effects. Maybe the best I have seen. However let's get the story right? Can u hear me? This was as story of the destruction of our Mother, Mother Earth, of the American Indians verses the white settlers, of the Indians in the Amazon and the cutting of the rain forest. Good verses evil, powerful verses the weak, technologically advanced verses the primatives all rolled up into one. Masterfully done and very timely in our current "killing her Softly Mode" of what we are doing to our Mother, Mother Earth.

The message is obviously left leaning but allows the open-minded to view commonly portraid social issues (interracial relationships, environmental apathy, military intervention in other societies, and the power of the almighty dollar) in intriguing ways.

I was worried that at 2'40", there would be "filler". WOW was I wrong! Jammed usual 45" set-up into 5" an' BAM... yer in the thick of it, runnin' with the throttle Wwiiiiide open! Visuals were STUNNING! 3D makes this thing ROCK... SO HARD!
My top ten is different than most... The American Astronaut, A Night at the Opera, Ju-On, LA Confidential, Koyaaniskatsi, Blazing Saddles, Oh Brother where Art Thou, a couple others that change depending on the day... and now AVATAR!

You easily lose yourself in this movie, and unlike some other alien movies (like, er, Alien), you develop a rapport with the denizens of Pandora quickly. That the world has a natural way of doing what the high technology from the earthlings can do, only better, is a great theme that will keep you thinking for days. The 3D effects were amazing, and this is one I will watch again and again.

This is the greatest movie I've ever seen. I've gone to watch it several times now and everytime, my mouth hangs open and I can't look away from the screen. It's kind of like Star Wars meets Pocahontas (sorry for misspelling) Lots of action, humor, and the story is great. Cameron does a wonderful job about making you care about the forest and its inhabitants. Die-hard flag-wavers might be disappointed however, since the overall theme of the movie is anti-war :)

Although I somewhat agree with everyone about the somewhat predictable good vs evil love story this became, it is still a 5 out of 5 for originality and special effects.
It was worth the money to see it in 3 D as it takes you to a whole new level of realism which for this movie is very creative and really breathtaking.
I will likely add this movie to my collection when it comes out on DVD and Blue Ray.

Avatar sets a new standard in cinema. Old themes brought to new heights by unimaginable colors, lighting and , of course, special effects. Even the Tarzan-like rescue by the creatures gave viewers a familiar feel-good (cheers went up in the theatre). I will see this movie at least two times despite the 12 dollar ticket price. I can't wait for the movie... "The Making of Avatar"

Just saw it last night and this movie was totally awesome. 3-D made it feel like you were right there in the forest dodging bullets, tree limbs and branches. I loved the effects of the flying scenes. My favorite was the night scenes and all the colors, what an imagination Mr Cameron has. I will definitely have to see this one again, I am sure I will see things I missed the first time. The 3 D and speical effects were the best I have ever seen. The animation was superb. However, the plot was very predictabe - I would have liked a deeper story line and more character development. I am a BIG Sci-Fi fan, and there is so much good stuff out there that could be adapted for the screen.

It's a Pocahontas rerun on a sci-fi setting, aren't they speaking some native indian language, or is it the way they dress and act? This is followed by Lord of the Rings / Star Wars battle scenes taking up the majority of the second half of the movie, a la James Bond.
The Avatar concept yields some interesting twists to the plot.
Many will find attractive the evasive simulated computer cinematography and the bright colors. To me it works for a little bit until you realize this other world is just a very Earthly tropical forest in phosphorescent color, the way most of us have discovered through ... the Jurasic Park movie. But in this case go for IMAX.

Avatar was a joy to watch. I'm not usually a science fiction fan but this was done beautifully. The special effects really made me feel a part of the movie. Wonderful!

By far the best animated movie I have ever seen. Cameron/Landau do it again, I was absolutely mesmerized. The acting flawless and so very believable. I am not easily moved to tears, but this movie had tears rolling down my face. Tears of joy and sadness, it was an emotional rollercoaster that had me rooting for the Na'vi. I have seen it twice to date once with a date, and once alone. I can honestly say I plan to see it once more but this time in Imax. Thank you both cast and production crew, this was so very well done. this is a movie all can enjoy I am 50 and I enjoyed it as much as my grandson......

There is no award category for the way this movie will leave you . Therefore there is no award good enough.... I plan on going to see it for a third time next week. Awesome movie !!

Avatar means Incarnation in Indian language. Most Indians will love this movie. It teaches people how you should be nice to your surroundings: Trees, animals and nature in general. We are bonded strongly to our surroundings. The movie did a great favor and was taken very well to convey this to all people. The theme is good and the computer graphics are excellent. I do not like movies at all. The last movie I saw was “Lord of the rings”. I will give Avatar 10 out of 5. Go baby.
