I think it was just AMAZING!!!! I read coments about it being a racist movie, but to understand the real message in he movie, you have to be OPEN MINDED. I think it shows how selfish humans can be, destroying anything or anyone on our pass to get something, without care about others.
I beleive we have to be more conceous about our natural resources, about Earth in Genereal that at the end is the HOME we have.

With the 3D visuals I could easily pretend I was right in the movie. The story shows mankind up to no good with greed motivating his every thought, as has been seen through history. Pros: Beautiful scenery, well planned and carried out. Fastinating, dreamlike, sad. I was pulling for the Avatars to win. Cons: Sent STRONG anti-American sentiment, as us being nothing but killers. Political and even used race as a theme. Since I am white I felt my race, culture was evil (According to the movie). Left a bad taste in my mouth. All races can be evil so why was the lead comander white, and the country ours?

3D visual feast! We saw film in Fork and Screen so 2 hr 40 minutes flew by. Story line was a little lacking but the effects made up for it. We would definitely recommend to see in 3D or IMAX.

This is probably the best movie overall that I've seen in years, from both a story viewpoint and also the amazing use of 3D in this film - the 3D was used to better effect here than any other 3D movie I've seen.
If you haven't seen this yet, you need to - you will regret missing this in 3D if you wait for the DVD... it's really that well done in this case.
I don't usually see movies more than once, twice at the most for something exceptional... I've been to Avatar 3D three times now with various friends and family, and I'm actually planning to go again before it leaves theaters. Truly an amazing piece of work.

Lots of hype, raves, rants and complaints. Story line taking some hits, but while story is nothing new (peaceful jungle people being forced from their land by evil "white men") it is handled very well and hooks you.
Effects are awesome and though the movie is long, I wouldn't cut a thing. Enjoyed every minute of it.

I read some of the reviews and I will say that I had it pretty figured out too, but despite that I enjoyed the special effects and the character's and the story line. Someone mentioned it didn't have a story line - it did. It reminded me of the Native American Indians and what happened to them and how the invaders tried to wipe them out in order to take their land. This is just on a different planet. I was entertained and would recommend it to anyone.

I actually had no interest in seeing this movie despite so many good reviews. I'm not sure what I was thinking...I guess I thought it was going to be too geek fest-y. I went to see it out of desparation for a movie to see and to my total surprise...I LOVED IT. It had me at scene 1. I was thoroughly engrossed and actually wished it was longer. Go see this on the big screen, it is totally worth it. And PS, people say that the story wasnt very good but that the effects were incredible. I disagree - I thought the story was really cool. The effects of course are, as every one says - incredible.

Well it was certainly worth waiting 10 yrs. for! Story line was tried & true but well told. The visual effects were everything I'd heard & more. great effect--3D aspect average--good plot line with iconic figures of capitalist, militarist, scientist, princess--great message of being in tune with nature and bonding with the earth, animals, other people--disservice to make "oppressed" civilization so romanticized and one-sided, the "noble savage" stereotype--amazing that a white guy could learn an entire civilization's culture in about 3 months--parallels with European decimation of Native Americans etc.; role of diplomacy vs. destruction--good to talk about in discussion that goes beyond Star Wars battleship fights

I thought the movie had really good effects, but that's the only thing that will carry it, would have been much better w/o all the taking of gods name in vane, really was no need for it and not a good idea for kids to listen to.

I thought the movie was outstanding...even with some negative reviews I tend not to expect an action movie to give me moral codes to live by...just as I dont expect intelligence discourse in a raw comedy. I take the movie for what is intended for purely entertainment purposes and feel this movie delivers and then some. At no time was I wondering how much longer it would continue even though it is nearly 3 hours. The action was steady throughout the venture and the story line while aged and common was still as exciting in this venture as it was in Dances With Wolves or Last of the Dogmen or others. I am ready for the sequel already....

I would recommed this movie for everybody... now I know why this movie outsold Titanic... its FANTASTIC, specially because is on 3D! Me and my husband already start to plan going to the movies again and we can not wait to get it n DVD!
